My kids don't drink pop. What else can you put in the mug?

Other food court choices for the refillable mugs include: coffee, hot tea, iced tea, lemonade, Hi-C fruit punch, and Powerade. The specific lemonade, punch, and Powerade flavors/choices vary by resort.

You can't get milk or OJ, but you can usually get hot chocolate.

I don't think we have Hi-C fruit punch here in Canada but I figure it's no fizz fruit punch that you can get here in juice boxes and large jugs in similar brands. We should be good.

I noticed it actually says on the mug only good for the length of your stay. We got some cool souvenir mugs on The Disney Dream in the cinema. An Ariel cup ( by minute maid ) and A Belle cup. They have flashing Ariels or Belle figures clipped to the bendy straw they come with. They were not free refills but lovely mugs to reuse for personal use at home. I never seen them in the parks before would love to buy more if anybody sees them in the parks. We clipped the flashing figures to things all during our vacation!
they sell a similar thing at Disney world and land Table service rest. I've seen Lightening mcqueen, buzz light year, captAin hook, tinkerbell. There is 2 clip on choices per place usually one girly one ( tink, ? I can't recall but swear there was another) and one boyish one ( buzz, hook, lightening).

I see this is your first post, but I really HOPE you are kidding! This is a very heated topic - Disney's policy is that your mug is good for the length of stay when purchased the mug. So, for what it's worth- technically it is breaking the rules to use mugs for another stay.

RULES.....:rotfl2:
Tiptoe and look confident....:tiptoe:
:rolleyes1

I remember reading there was a "trial program" at one of the resorts and they were scanning the mugs, something like they do at the waterparks. What resort was it and are they still doing that?

Are there plans to do something like this at all the resorts? To me, it seems like it would be easier/more cost effective just to change the mug design frequently to prevent people from "cheating" the mug system...of that's really what they are trying to prevent. :confused3

That RFID chip trial was at All Star Sports during 2011. The mugs and cups had a chip on them and the soda dispensers detected the presence of the chip in order to work.

But the trial has been over for a while now, and there has been no news or evidence of Disney implementing the RFID mugs/cups further.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge back in 1996 for our honeymoon. We did get the refillable mugs back then, and kept them - I don't remember if we were told we could bring them back, or if we just liked them, or what, but I just found them in the back of our cupboard. According to the sticky, they might be "permanently" refillable, but I can't find any writing on the mug to confirm or deny this. Does anyone know for sure?

No, for the most part, mugs have always expired when you left the resort you bought them at during that trip. People constantly bringing old mugs back forced Disney to write the rules right on the side of the mug in the 2000's.

We bought our first mugs in 1997 and a sign was posted over the mugs saying they were good only for that trip at that resort.

For whatever it's worth, I'm at All Star Sports now and mentioned that I wished they still had other mug lid colors like when they tested the RFID chips and the CM told me they are planning on adding the RFID chips again. Take it with a grain (or whole spoonful) of salt...

I'm staying in a value and not purchasing a mug.

Can I just walk up to the mug stations with any cup and get hot water?

Can I get free hot water in a cup with a lid from the pool bar or the food court?

Which would be faster first thing in the morning when trying to catch emh?

Can you eat and drink on the bus?

You should be able to get free hot water. You cannot eat and drink on the bus.

Just for information -

Lifetime Mugs - We have the Dixie Landings & Ft. Wilderness lifetime mugs. We've taken them back to WDW every year. In casual conversations, many staff members acknowledged these are lifetime mugs. As years progressed & in recent years, some "old timers" staff members even smiled & reminised when they saw them - especially the elderly man who sometimes is at the door to POR. Have had lots of friendly conversations about them - especially the Dixie Landings mug.

Just returned, & during this trip a Trail's End employee politely told us that she was instructed to advise guests using such mugs that the mugs are no longer usable. Needless to say we were shocked, but didn't take it as the end of the world. We did ask for the manager to confirm & see what he said about it. He also was polite, & agreed with us that they were sold as lifetime.

During this trip, we had free DDP mugs that we could have been using, but we like the memories of our old mugs. But we didn't use the lifetime mugs after being told not to do so.

BTW, as the manager at Trail's End agreed & which confirms, our mugs were sold to us not only as lifetime, but also as good at any WDW resort. We bought 2 kinds because we liked them.

We use them at home now, which we would never do before because we wanted them to remain pristine.

While I don't agree with Disney's recent reserval of an unwritten sales contract, & I believe the lifetime mugs do not hurt their profit, & I do believe it is a bad PR move, we will not use them at WDW. I'm sure the "old timers" employees will miss seeing them! The funny thing for us is, we rarely drink anything but water - so Disney wasn't even losing any money on us, since we wouldn't have bought bottled water from them anyway!

Happy "mugging"! :cool1:

Does anyone have a picture of this years holiday mugs?

We are leaving in 17 days (OMG!!! SO EXCITED! :woohoo:) and we were debating whether or not to plan on buying the new ones. We have mugs from our past 5 trips, of which several are the beach scene pictured in an earlier post which they should still be selling. Refillable mugs are PERFECT for our family of 4 and we are bringing two first timers this trip who drink A LOT of soda and iced tea.

Thanks for all the info! I hope someone has a picture of the current mugs!

From what I know the current resort refillable mugs don't switch to a different design for any holiday. They should still be selling the characters-by-the-pool (beach scene) design during your trip.

The parks might be selling a holiday-themed mug, but that's different from the resort refillable mugs.
