It's NEVER Too Late, for Number 8 - the most UNOFFICIAL, 'official' AKL thread yet!

Hey folks! We're set to leave in 11 days for AKL! And I am sooooo excited! We had a teaser trip last time with a split stay. Only one night at AKL is not enough!

So tomorrow we're going to try our first attempt at online checkin. Do y'all have any suggestions for requests? It will be (6 months pregnant), DH, and our DD (almost 3). We booked a standard view studio.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

We are planning and I have booked our next trip. August 5-9 @ AKL. Can't wait to go back. Really wanted to try BC and we know we can save money by going to POFQ (we like it too), but really love AKL so it looks like another trip to the lodge.

Since you say studio, I guess that you have a DVC villa booked? The standard views should then be mostly the pool view rooms on Zebra trail as well as a few reclassified villas of sub-par savanna views (at the edge of the building). You might want to request close to the lobby in order to avoid a long walk to your room as I would guess you will be tired enough with all the walking you do in the parks. However, the rooms very close to the lobby will first have the roof above Boma in front of them and then the pool in the distance.

From what I've heard the value is smaller than the standard, more like a regular hotel room.

Great thanks! I had some extra DVC points to use up. It was either stay for a longer trip in a value or a shorter stay in a standard. I opted for the longer. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

FWIW- We stayed in one of the "sub-par" savanna view rooms in Oct and were blown away by the amount of time the giraffes spent in the area :cool1: There was a fair amount of other animal time, but the giraffes seem to just hang out and play. Would another view have been *better* maybe, and I can't really say, but I do know that we were in no way disappointed with the view and really felt like we got quite a deal considering what "standard view" gets you at some of the other resorts...like roofs, parking lots, etc.....that we were able to see two different fireworks shows in the distance at the same time was just icing on the cake!

Seven daysssssssssssssss!! :cool1:
...you can start doin' the 'One-Week Wiggle'.....:thumbsup2

6 more days until our stay at AKV! I cannot wait!!! Pulled out the luggage and am ready to start packing. :)

We will be in a value studio, but am really hoping we luck out with a savannah view!!!

Hi, could someone help me with the diffrence between: Standard Room with Bunk Beds, Arusha Savanna View, and Kilimanjaro Club Level with Concierge Service - Standard Room. Heres what the disney website says. We stayed Bunk bed Arusha view in October, & it was AMAZING. Just wondering why Club level/concierge is slightly cheaper. It says you get Arusha savanna view, & can choose queen with bunkbeds. And you also get Secure key access to the Club Level Lounge, which serves refreshments from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. That would be a plus! We just had such a great room/view where we stayed last time, I wouldn't want to change it up for next time with out knowing all the facts. Our room last time was just a super short walk right past the lobby!
