I think this was the worst Disney trip we have ever been on.

Yes, I know y'all--and no I'm not from down South--are probably thinking "How can a Disney trip be awful?!"

Well I am here to prove that is possible.

I basically rolled my eyes, gossiped about my family with Mum, and came this close to punching someone in the face during this trip.

If I could take away one thing from this trip, it would be that we are never ever ever--now you will all have that song stuck in your heads. You're welcome--going on a family vacation again, especially with family that is on Main Street USA "looking for the hat."

I'm not joking.

And you are all probably wondering why two Disney FREAKS went on a trip with family that drove us up a wall.

I don't know the answer to that.

All I know is that we were stupid for inviting our family to come with us.

Y'all are probably wondering who Mum and I are and this family I speak--well, type of, actually--of. It was an interesting group, that's all I'm sayin.

First off is your narrator, chocolate croissant lover, disfreak, photographer, tweeter, music lover, trip report writer, etc., etc., etc. But most importantly, ME!

The name is
Meg
disneynovember20121216.jpg

(that's me and my best friend Henry)

You might know me as the writer of the masterpiece "Didn't you see our first movie? We drive..." An August 2012 TR. If you have read it, thank ya very much. And if you haven't, I don't know what you have been doing these last few months! GO READ IT. You will laugh, you will cry, and most importantly, you will think I am awesome. Because I am. DUH.

Enough about my first TR. Let's get to a little more about moi!

I am definitely not your average teenager. Nowadays, your average teenager is obsessing over One Direction and doing whatever normal teenagers do. First of all, I am a disfreak, but I have mentioned that already. I have been to the World about 11 times and once to Disneyland when I was 6, and I don't remember anything about it. How lovely, I know.
My dream is to do the College Program and to work at Disney for my whole life. I already talk about moving to Florida and doing the DCP.
I am obsessed with the details around the park, and if you read my August TR, you already know that and how I go on rants about details all the time. Oh, and by the way, ranting is one of my specialties. You have been warned.
And I also love reading about Walt Disney and the whole company in general. And yes, I am one of those people who sit in One Man's Dream and cry my eyes out. I am not ashamed.
Other than stuff about Disney, I LOVE to take pictures (you will find that out in this TR) and I am such a music lover and take guitar lessons every week.

And have I mentioned I love chocolate croissants?

Because I do.

Enough about moi, let's move on to the one, the only...
Mum
disneynovember2012341.jpg

Y'all may know her as Melissa, my wonderful mother, or melmar136 here on the boards. Or that person that I always make fun of in my trip reports, since I am such a great daughter and all.

Mum is the one who got me through this trip. She actually "gets" Disney and isn't there for just the rides, THANK GOD. She is actually the one who got me into Disney and has been on every trip with me. She has been to WDW about 25 times and to Disneyland once.
I couldn't ask for a better best friend, seriously. She is the best Mum ever and does so much for moi.
Good thing she understands my passion for Disney, because if she didn't, I would've lost my mind by now.

Oh wait. I have.

So usually, that would end my introductions. I wish my introductions were over...

Next up, is my cousin,
Troy
disneynovember2012777.jpg

He loved Muppet Vision, as you can see.

This was Troy's first visit to the World and his favorite thing was meeting the characters, especially the Big Cheese! Everyday he would ask "When are we going to Mickey's House?" up until our trip. It was a lot of fun to go to WDW with him and I don't have anything bad to say about him. I will about other people though...
He is three...I mean TWO years old! Disney thought he was two...SHHHHHHH!!!

Next we have my aunt and uncle (aka Troy's parents),
Seth and Jackie
disneynovember2012588.jpg

Seth is my awesome uncle and my roller coaster buddy. He loved going on all of the rides and seeing new things because he hadnt been to Disney in 21 years!!!! Something is wrong with the man, I know.

And Jackie is my aunt, of course. I truly think that Disney was not a fit for her. She would be perfectly fine relaxing on the beach, having some drinks. I really can't say if she loved Disney or not. I mean, if they are "planning" to go next year, they must've loved it, right? I dont know. And if you are wondering, we will not be going with them again next year.

So Seth and Jackie basically drove me up a wall. They complained, whined, woke up at 10 am (I was mad), and a lot more that made me want to strangle someone. Stay tuned for my rants on them. They should be good.

And last, but not least, is,
Mimi
disneynovember2012476.jpg

Mimi is my grandmother, but her real name is Cheryl. She has been through a lot this year and we wanted to get her away for Thanksgiving, so we invited her with us. I don't know if this was the best decision ever, but whatevs. She hadn't been to Disney in about 12 years and she was SO excited about this trip, just like me at first...

So that wraps us the intros.

And next we have our itinerary!

We were at Disney from November 22nd (Thanksgiving) till the 28th. Seth, Jackie and Troy only stayed till the 26th, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing...

We had a triple stay this trip, and boy, was it crazy! But I have to say, it was cool getting to see all of the decorations at the three resorts we stayed at.

So we stayed at Saratoga Springs from the 22-24th,
Wilderness Lodge (my FAVE!) from the 24-26th,
and the Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation from the 26-28th, because we ran out of DVC points.
(Mimi stayed with us).

Seth, Jackie, and Troy stayed at All Star Sports, thanks to my wonderful friend Alicia's CM discount! They were planning to stay off property at first and then they got the discount. THANK GOD.

So, I think thats pretty much it for all of the information y'all need to know at this point.

WAIT! I almost forgot!
I will be posting tweets from this trip (in this font) and pictures from Instagram.

Now I think we're all set!

Please move all the way down to the end of the row, make sure your feet and arms are inside of the boat, please stand clear of the doors, and hold on to the handrails if you are standing.

All ready?

Wonderful!

Then let's go!

:tinker:OFF TO NEVERLAND!:tinker:

Well actually we are off to our crazy family vacation, but you get the point.

Just so all of your readers know...I am a saint. :rotfl:
If they have read any of your first TR, they should already know that.
However, I should point out something that you didn't mention in the introductions....these are my EX-in laws. Yes, we are friendly...and amazingly enough after this trip, we still are. We just won't be going away with them again. ;)

I'm here !!

And I think I am free to mention that when I saw you at AK, you both looked a little peeved. You were holding your cousin's hand and had your other hand on your hip, looking like you were about to hurt someone. Your mom was shaking her head a little. And we have mentioned several times how PACKED it was that day. And if you got a late start ?? Yeah, I can imagine things didn't actually go smoothly.

We knew with the crowds, we had to get to the parks early. Too bad your family couldn't appreciate your Disney expertise and awesomeness so they could experience the optimum enjoyment that Disney can provide.

Looking forward to reading along and see all of the resort photos !!

I just finished your last TR and i'm looking forward to this one! I'm sorry it wasn't the best trip, but a trip to Disney is always better then any other theme park (l still don't like to talk about that trip i went on to Hershey park yikes!). Anyway, I will attempt not to be a lurker this time. Can't wait to see the updates!

Yay! You're back - can't wait to read all about your trip! I definitely can sympathize with going w/family who don't seem to understand it's important to get up earlier than 10 am and whine the whole trip (I'm speaking of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law on our trip back in 1997 where we stayed at BWV for 10 days which cost me billions of dollars because I wasn't smart enough to buy into DVC back then...well I still haven't but will one day lol. Plus I paid for their entire trip and all they did was complain so that was the only one time I've ever traveled with them...sorry about the rant :rotfl2:).

I love that you are so close to your Mum and share the Disney magic :goodvibes

Yes you are, Mum, yes you are.
I am SHOCKED we are still talking after this trip
We will NEVER be going away with them again!

YAY!!!
Susan, that was me the whole entire trip :rotfl: And yeah, we got there at like 9:30 and Seth, Jackie, and Troy got there at like 11:30. Then they would complain about how everything was such a long wait, it was so crowded, blah, blah, blah. Well maybe if you got there at 9:30 it wouldn't be bad! GRRRR.
They just didn't understand what Disney is. They thought sleeping in was fine, getting to ADRs late was ok, and just every other thing to possibly annoy the crap out of me.

I'm done now.

I kind of took over 1,700 pictures...

Welcome! I hope you enjoyed my last TR!
Yes, you are right! I remember going to Hershey Park years ago. I try not to think about that!
I love your comments and I'm happy to have you following along :goodvibes

Welcome!
Don't be sorry for the rant! I love rants! And I can totally relate to everything you said. Mum and I did ALL of the planning, getting ADRs, getting them the room discount, and pretty much did everything for them. Do you think we got a thank you? No. All we got was complaining. It was quite lovely...
And you should totally buy DVC! We love it!
And thanks :goodvibes Thank God I have her!

Sounds like our trips overlapped a little! :thumbsup2 We were there the 17th-24th. :)

Sorry you had bad traveling partners. We traveled with friends in 2010 and while it was fun, it was sooooo much easier to do our own thing on this trip!! :thumbsup2 I say that you should reward yourself for not hurting anyone (physically) and plan a trip back to Disney to erase the bad memories of this trip- STAT! ::yes::

Oh really? I hope you had a wonderful trip!
I like it MUCH better being just the two of us. It's hard to travel with other people, especially ones who don't "understand" Disney.
We are going again in August, which in my opinion, is way too far away, but I'll live. And THANK GOD it will just be Mum and I!
And I'm happy to have you here!

Awesome start!:thumbsup2 Can't wait to read more!:cool1:

WELCOME! I hope you enjoy!

I'm here and ready to read about your latest adventure!

YAY! Glad you're here!

"I think this was the worst Disney trip we have ever been on."
""How can a Disney trip be awful?!""

Been there, done that, like 3 times.
Or 2.5. Whateves.
First time was also with family, and the most recent trip was with (now EX best friends) My mom and I did a lot of gossiping too. Some people are just miserable and others just should stay out of the world because they ruin it for the rest of us!!!!!

I'm glad a lot of people can relate. I thought it was going to be wonderful and we were going to have such a great time. That's exactly how it turned out...
Instead of talking about Disney, Mum and I would whisper about everyone and how annoying they were. It was great!
I can't wait to her about how my aunt and uncle's trip to the World next year is going to be. They will be those people who eat chicken nuggets the whole time because they did no planning and have no ADRs. Seriously.

The day before Disney

November 21st

I woke up at 7:30 on this fine morning.

Now, this wasn’t the day we were leaving for Disney. No, it was the last day of torture waiting for this trip to come. I mean, the whole trip was torture, but I’d rather be Home being tortured with my family. Being tortured there is better than being tortured in good ol’ yucky Massachusetts. I mean, nothin’ on Massachusetts, but I’d rather live in Orlando. Five more years.

Anyways, I worked on my August TR all day long, for the most part. I just wanted to get the thing done and over with! I know I have already said this, but, GO READ IT. The link is in my signature. You’re welcome.

At about 10, I did my nails. Disney themed of course. Duh.

I had no clue what to do, so I just did Mickey heads on all my nails in some sort of weird pattern.
disneynovember2012001.jpg

Here is one hand (they both looked the same).
disneynovember2012002.jpg

They came out pretty crappy. And yes, I know I am the world’s most messiest nail polish painter. You don’t need to tell me.

Mum got home at about 3:15 and we headed to a local baker because we had to pick up cookies we ordered for a snack on the plane.
Ohmygod, they were ADORABLE!

We brought them home and I basically obsessed over them.
disneynovember2012004.jpg

Please tell me those aren’t the cutest things EVER!

And it was great because there was one big one for each of us and then a bow or two buttons. We put them in little sandwich baggies to give to everyone.

It took us about an hour to get all of our stuff together, get last minute things, vacuum so the cats wouldn’t eat their fur that they shed, and feed them.

We got all of our stuff in the car and said bye to our kitties. Meeko wouldn’t even look at us. She was on Mum’s bed all curled up and would bury her face in the bed when we tried to pet her. Someone was mad we were leaving!
Figaro on the other hand. He didn’t even care. He was probably thinking “FREEDOM!”

We got to Mimi’s house at about 6:15. We were staying there that night because her house is much closer to Boston than ours.

We just ordered some take out for dinner. I think I got a sub. Who knows. I don’t think you guys want to see non-Disney food pictures in a Disney trip report. I mean, you’re all here for the Disney food, right? And to read about our awful family vacation? I would think so.

Once it hit 8 o’ clock, Mum was all excited. It was Charlie Brown Thanksgiving time.

BOOOOOO!

I am NOT a fan of Charlie Brown. At all. I have never liked him. Probably never will. Mum just loves all of the stupid holiday specials and always records them. I could care less.

She wanted to watch it so bad and she knows I can’t stand it. So with all of the huffing and puffing, she goes “I guess you can change the channel.”

I didn’t want to hear the complaining, so I left it on for her and Mimi to watch. I just stared off into space for an hour and thought about Disney. I was bouncing off the walls. That’s how everyone was. Yup.

At 9:45, we went to bed. Yes, that early. We needed some sleep. It’s not like that happened! I was up pretty much the entire night. I was just so excited to see all of the Christmas decorations, have Disney food, and cry over everything. I WAS READY.

I got only 3 hours of sleep.

And if you are wondering, I wasn’t tired. At all. I don’t think I yawned once the next day.

I woke up at four with Mimi and I watched some stupid show on the Food Network called Fat Chef. It was some weight loss show for, you guessed it, fat chefs. I don’t understand why every channel has to have a weight loss show. Maybe Food Network does because so many people watch it and become fat from making all of the yummy food they show. I’m just sayin’.

Then, it was time to get ready.

Omg the chicken nuggets just sparked a memory. One of the 'friends' was so cheap, she bought a KIDS pizza from Pinocchio's Village Haus because it was cheaper...................

I almost DIED when she sat down with it. It was the size of like a hockey puck. And she was like "oh it came with grapes, do you guys want some?" and she shared her kids pack of like 8 grapes with 5 other people.

My mom decided to charge the group that came (4 people) $250 for 7 nights/8 days in a Grand Villa at OKW. Same person with the pizza asked not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES "Does that include food?"

Your "friend" sounds like a lot of people I know...and no, not the ones in this tr.
She shared her grapes with 5 people?! :rotfl: I have to say, those grapes are really good, but I do not like to share, but you already know that.
I truly think $250 isn't a bad price for one to pay for 8 nights at a Grand Villa at OKW, so I don't see why she was complaining about it not including food.

HAPPY 111TH BIRTHDAY WALT DISNEY!!!

And now on to the update...

Our crazy travelin' morning

November 22nd

It was turkey day! I mean, it’s not like I cared because I was going to DISNEY WORLD!

VSKSHSIJQBCPBWKDBQLENWJWNZBXNVCKDHGXNNDNNSOPQOEUDYCGAONWBBENMMQJQOPDCNVBZREEQKLDN!!!!!

I got 3 hours of sleep last night. It's not like I care because I'm going to DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

I was bouncing off the walls. I was going crazy. I was laughing hysterically. It was kind of like that night in Epcot, but I’m not goin’ there.

I only had half a chocolate croissant for breakfast. I know, I know. HALF. I wasn’t hungry because I was so excited and Mimi got these really nasty ones and I couldn’t finish it. I wanted real chocolate croissants aka Disney chocolate croissants.

We were out the door by 6:15 and got to Logan at 7:10. Not bad at all! And we fit everything in our little car!

my emotions: EEEEEEE SJDBKAKXKDNAK DISNEY!!!!

We parked in the Economy Lot, which is much cheaper than parking in the main parking lots near the airport. You do have to take a shuttle to get to the airport, but it’s only like a 2 minute ride.

Before heading down to the shuttle, we weighed our luggage one last time. No, we do not carry around a scale in our car. We got this hook thingy that you hang your luggage on and you lift it up to see how much it weighs. We got it at Walmart for like $7. I don’t lift it up because let’s be real, I am lazy and sit on the couch and eat ice cream all day. I do not like exercise, so I have no muscles. Michelle Obama would be proud.
Surprisingly, all of our luggage was well under 50 pounds. Mine was the lightest, which was a big shock because I have a huge black and white hard suitcase. The suitcase by itself weighs 15 pounds.

We dragged all of our stuff to the elevator (we were on the 3rd floor of the garage. I know you guys really care about that) and hopped on with this family going to Chicago.

A shuttle was already there so we hopped aboard. Terminal E was our stop, so we were the last to get off.

Mum did not want me taking pictures of her, like usual.
disneynovember2012009.jpg

She is going to kill me for posting that. It’s not like I care.

We also sat in the priority seating, aka where the old folks sit, like Mum.
disneynovember2012010.jpg

Once we got off, we headed inside, and headed up a floor to drop our bags off.

AT THE AIRPORT. CAPS LOCK IS NEEDED RIGHT NOW.

We already had our boarding passes since Mum printed them off the day before.

Seriously, it was DEAD in there. I think there was like one other family in there. I know it was early—well, for Jackie at least—and it was Thanksgiving, but I was surprised!
disneynovember2012011.jpg

We checked our bags in, and that was a breeze. So next stop was security, aka everyone’s favorite place. I mean, all the TSA peeps are so happy and friendly and they don’t yell at you to hurry it up or anything… Actually, they were pretty nice on this day. Except the one who made Mimi go through the giant body scanner.

The complaining started.

Already.

Maybe they thought my grandmother looked like a terrorist, I don’t know! I guess they thought I have looked like a terrorist too because I have had to go through that thing before. It wasn’t a big deal or anything.
Yes Mimi, I know Mum and I had to just walk through that metal detector thing and that was it, but it’s not the end of the world.
I mean, the complaining already started and we weren’t even through security yet. Oh wait. She complained before that because she didn’t want her feet touching the floor with all of the germs when she had to take her shoes off.

Did I mention she is a germ freak?

Cause she is.

She even asked one of the TSA peeps why she had to go through the big body scanner. IDK. Move on with your life, Mimi!

I told you guys there would be a lot of ranting.

And we weren’t even in Disney yet!

You’re welcome.

After all of the complaining, we got our shoes back on and then I saw the Three Stooges, I mean Seth, Jackie, and Troy.

I ran up to Troy and gave him a giant hug.

Then Jackie said he wasn’t feeling the greatest and was having “bathroom issues.”

Right after I gave him a giant hug.

Awesome.

I mean, I wanted the kid to feel better and all, but…I don’t know.

I guess those cookies wouldn’t be eaten this day.

Troy did get over his bathroom issue, so he wasn’t blocked up for the whole trip.

You guys probably didn’t want to know that.

TMI, I’m sorry.

MOVING ON.

I went over to the windows with Troy and he explained how they put the luggage in the plane. It was so cute!
disneynovember2012012.jpg

Then we checked out one of those little convenient stores for last minute snacks, reading material, etc. I found nothing I wanted to eat. I JUST WANTED DISNEY FOOD.

Then we went to good ol’ Dunkin’s and Troy hugged someone’s leg, that wasn’t Seth or Jackie’s. Jackie flipped out when she saw him. She was like “TROY!” I have done that in my earlier years…

Then we headed to our gate. We were at gate E1E. Good information…

Then Seth couldn’t find his brand new iPhone. It wasn’t in Troy’s stroller. Not in his pocket. It wasn’t in their backpack. So if you couldn’t tell, he didn’t have it.

THE DRAMA STARTS YAY!!!

So Mum and I sat at our gate with everyone’s stuff. The rest of them went to go look for it.

Dear God.

5 minutes passed.

10.

15.

I count really well by 5s, don’t I?!

Then we saw them coming.

THEY FOUND THE PHONE!

He left it in the bathroom and some custodial person had it, that spoke like no English.

Finally after the missing phone was recovered, they made 5 zillion announcements about how our flight was overbooked by one, blah, blah, blah. BUT, if someone gave up their seat, they got two free round trip tickets. Not bad!
Mum could’ve stuck me in her carry on and said she was just a party of one and could’ve gotten those tickets for us to go to Disney at a later date without “the other people.”

Sadly, that didn’t happen because I would’ve broken her shoulder from her carrying her carry on so we had to get on the plane with “the other people.”

I think that’s what I’m going to call them from now on. "The other people." Sounds good to moi!

BOARDING THE PLANE SOON OMG.

I just wanted to leave!

Family picture!
disneynovember2012013.jpg

How sweet.
Not.

We boarded the plane semi-early, which wasn’t a bad thing, I guess. It just took FOREVER.

Someone was ready!
disneynovember2012015.jpg

We got the backpack for him, duh.

We found our seats, but Mimi was nowhere near us. Mum paid for all of us to sit together, but that didn’t happen. It was probably because the drama that happened on the 21st. I didn’t tell you guys? Shame on moi!

So we had to pay for our bags the day before. Thought we would pay for them when we got to the airport, but whatever. We had no clue how many bags “the other people (minus one)” would have. Maybe they were going to have two suitcases. One for Seth and Jackie. And one for Troy. Or, one for each of them. So Mum texted them and they didn’t write back for like two hours, and we needed to know ASAP. By the way, that is foreshadowing, FYI.
Anyways, Jackie wrote back and said “they didn’t know yet.”
I will never understand them sometimes! Don’t they pack like a month before or start getting stuff together?!

Maybe that’s just us…

So they said they would just check in another bag if they had one, since we only paid for two and only checked in Troy and Jackie. And plus we had to book Seth separate, blah, blah, blah. So I think since Seth checked in at the airport, our seats got all mixed up. Thanks, “the other people.”

So Mimi sat way back by the bathrooms. How lovely. So Mum and I had to sit across from “the other people (minus one).”

Before we took off, I read up on all of the wonderful and ridiculous items they make today in, you guessed it, SKY MALL! My favorite magazine!

I ordered Mum’s Christmas present from there. Don’t tell her what it is, guys, ok?!

I bought her the Animated T-Rex Hoodie!

It comes in adult sizes, so it’s all good! She is going to love it. Aren’t I the best daughter ever?! I know!

Moving on.

Troy absolutely LOVED take off. Weirdo.

During the flight, I did homework, in style of course.

I also read D23 and listened to the DISunplugged with Mum.

AND, I took pictures of Seth and Jackie sleeping. Troy was wide awake though watching some movie.

And Mum and I took some crazy pictures, because that’s what we do.

Yes, I was already wearing my mickey ears. I was wearing them days in advanced.

So attractive.

Then I took a picture of Mum having Minnie’s eyes as her own eyes, from the cookies.

It came out awesome.

And before I forget, the WiFi on AirTran didn’t work. You had to PAY for it. Idiots.

Pretty soon, I saw palm trees. YAHOOOOO!!!!

Our flight landed at 12, which was great because we had the rest of the day at the happiest (yeah…) place on earth!

We headed down to the fake-o-rail once we got off the plane.

Troy was a good boy and held on to the handrails.

We headed down to baggage claim so “the other people (minus one)” could get their bags, since they never called Magical Express. It’s not like we told them five+ times or anything…
Then less than a week before we told them WE can just go down to the bus and not get our bags and they were like “Why???”

Some people will never know…

So after “the other people (minus one)” got their bags, we headed down to Magical Express. It’s very convenient because the AirTran baggage claim is on side B, which is the same place Magical Express is.

We got down to the desk, and told Seth and Jackie to go up to the desk WITH THEIR RESERVTION NUMBER and get their vouchers to get on the bus. Easy, right?

Not at all.

Jackie looked at us like we had three heads.

“We need our reservation number?”

WE ONLY TOLD YOU FIVE ZILLION TIMES BEFORE THIS. DIDN’T YOU WRITE IT DOWN, YOU IDIOTS?

Meanwhile, Mum has a whole book with our reservation numbers for our rooms, ADRs, etc.

It already started.

Jackie found it on her phone and then they headed up to the desk. We stood around and I just shook my head. I WANTED TO GET TO SARATOGA GRRRR.

I looked over at the desk because the CM who was helping them looked CLUELESS. So I ran up to help, since let’s be real, I know what I’m doing.

The CM thought I needed a voucher too when I got up there, but no, I was just seeing what the crap was taking five hours.

And then they told me once they were finally done that the CM couldn’t find their reservation number, AT FIRST. THANK THE LORD UP ABOVE HE DID.

After everything was all set, we got in our lines to wait for our motor coach. IT WAS TIME.
