Hi all! I am having an Escape wedding on May 2, 2013, currently scheduled for the Wedding Pavilion at 5:00pm. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on the pavilion versus SBP? Thanks!!

I was married at SBP. I wanted an outdoor location and took the risk that if it rained I would be put in a banquet hall. It is total preference. If your mind is not set on an outdoor wedding the pavilion is beautiful!

Thank you! And the cake ceremony was right beside the gazebo? Was the hour long enough for all the photos and everything? I think SBP fits me more but air conditioning is on DFs list :).

An hour was long enough for us! I let me photographer know before hand that I did not want to spend too much time on the posed family potraits and wanted to bang those out quickly! We did not eat cake at SBP, just did a staged cutting ceremony for the photos. I don't know if we had eaten the cake there if an hour would have been long enough. We just let our planner know we did not plan to eat cake and they packed it up for us and we brought it to the reception!

we are planning on getting married at sea breeze point. we love the boardwalk and think it is a beautiful location! i'm only have 30 or so guests, and i feel the wedding pavillion looks a bit empty with that number. although it is a beautiful location none the less!

We choose the Wedding Pavilion! I actually wanted to have ours at SBP but my husband really wanted the Pavilion - and I'm glad we went with it because it POURED on our wedding day! Of course, weather isn't the sole reason to choose the WP, but it was nice to not have to worry about moving the ceremony. We only had 20 people total at our ceremony, so the pavilion was far from full, and if that would bother you SBP might be a better option! But it was also nice to be inside the air conditioned WP during our ceremony because in June it was sweltering outside.

I had a Wishes wedding at SBP and loved the location. There is always the chance of rain but my planner said they really wanted me to have my wedding outdoors and as long as it didn't rain within the hour of the wedding, I could keep it outside. It rained within the hour before and after but I'm happy to say I stayed outside.

The location at SBP is beautiful and I think it works well for smaller parties (I only had 23 guests).

The WP is way too churchy for me and DH. We LOVED SBP (still do) and the atmosphere there. It was a bit hot even on May 1 and we did eat the cake there after the cake cutting.....

It was great sitting outside. I wasn't sure at first with the BW right there, but it really was so nice sitting there afterwards for a bit.

We risked it for SBP and I couldn't have been happier!! But then again my heart belongs at the Beach Club/Boardwalk. :cool1:

If I had gone the DFTW route, my choice would've been SBP. So pretty!

The WP just isn't really my style.

We used SBP and loved it. WP was a little too church-like for our tastes. The risk of getting rained out is always a factor though. There's a higher chance depending on time of year and ceremony time.

Thanks all, you are super helpful. I am still torn but that is pretty typical these day (let's put it this way, I am 5 months out and all I know for sure is my dress...and the groom of course).

Do you know of anyone who was rained out at SBP? Would love to know what the alternate location is like?

Thanks again!! :thanks:

The rain backup location for Sea Breeze Point is a ballroom at BoardWalk Inn Convention Center (or, rarely, The Attic). :thumbsup2

Thanks lurkyloo.....do you know if those locations are pretty good? And do you know of anyone who has gotten rained out? I have no idea if May is rainy or not, but that one does have me nervous. Thanks!

You can see photos of some of BoardWalk's ballrooms here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/wdw-venue-photos/boardwalk-inn-ballrooms/

BoardWalk Inn has my favorite decor out of all the WDW convention centers, but it's still a convention center, so you're getting cavernous spaces that some may feel need considerable decor to personalize.

I do know of a few couples who have been rained out at Sea Breeze Point. The weather in Florida is never super-predictable, but in general during the rainy season (May–October) it tends to rain just in the afternoon. So booking the first ceremony of the day might help cut your chances of getting rained out.

I am having the same dilemma. SBP or WP? I think I'm leaning more towards the WP because to me it is more formal, dress/suit wise, whereas SBP to me can be a little more casual. I see more guys wearing tan suits and tennis shoes at SBP. Plus I just really want the castle in the background of my pictures.:lovestruc
