We have stayed at the Sofitel a few times and have always liked it there, the Hilton though is coming up as a bit cheaper so I'm tempted to try there. Does anyone have any opinions on the Hilton? Is it directly attached to the South Terminal?

Know it's probably not quite the same but have you considered the brand new premier travel inn opposite the entrance to the north terminal .... Just make sure you get the right one .... Should be rounfpd about £60 a night

Described as "London Gatwick Airport" on premier inn website and NOT gatwick north ..... Hope this helps

The Hilton is attached to the south terminal by a walkway. It's next to the shirt stay/valet parking.

The hotels nice enough, nothing special but each time we have stayed the rooms are nice and clean and staff friendly and helpful. Personally I think food and drink prices are expensive but its a 5min walk to the restaurants in the terminal.

Another option is the Marriott. It's onsite and although outside there is a pathway directly to the terminal. It's about a 10min walk (shuttle is also available). We got our room there for £70 inc breakfast.

I have booked 3 rooms there for next July @ £43 per room:goodvibes

Having been to both the Hilton (yes, it is attached to the terminal) and the Sofitel in the past I think the Sofitel wins on a quality basis but all things considered I am happy enough with Premier Inn at that price

not a fan of the Sofitel as I find the rooms claustophobic. Much prefer the Hilton and normally stay in the Executive rooms with access to the executive lounge and breakfast included. We find this well worth the money (just a few free drinks in the lounge pays for the upgrade, plus all the free nibbles and buffet stuff) but we do look at our stay as the start of our holiday and not just a place to stay the night before our holiday begins.
Stayed in the Premier Inn in Liverpool Docks recently and thought it was excellent for the money and would def stay in one again.., thought the breakfast was disgusting though and wouldn't recommend you pay for that.

The non-refundable rate is only £29 which seems like a bit of a bargain! :thumbsup2

All booked! The room was £29, I also added on the meal deal for £22 each which gives us a 3 course dinner and an unlimited breakfast buffet :thumbsup2

Late to this, but I think that if you're looking for value then Premier Inn's good and close. If it's a straight choice between Hilton and Sofitel, then my advice would be to go for the cheaper option as they're much a muchness.

Super job, yes think they have those dates on offer right now, hoping to improve on our rate a little closer the time. Have a fab time!

Stayed at both the Hilton & Sofitel & we both much prefer the Sofitel.
We found the beds in the Hilton to be very uncomfortable this was a few yrs ago now so may be better now.

We've always stayed at the Courtyard Marriott. It's a LOT cheaper and it's a nice little hotel. It's about 400 yards from the terminal and there is a walkway. When we go, we usually fly Virgin and use the twilight check in too so we pull up at the airport, arrange for the car to be collected at the terminal for the parking. Go in to the terminal, check in for our flight then take the short walk to the Marriott. In the morning, you don't have leave the hotel until hour before take off time!
