Any rumor when 2014 dates come out?

If they'd start with more reasonable pricing off the bat, they wouldn't have to do all these *GT rates, KSF, mil rates, FLR, etc. People are only willing to pay so much. I would book a 7 day May cruise today if I could do it for a decent price. Since I can't, I will wait for a special rate and if one doesn't come out for some crazy reason, then I will stick with the reasonably priced fall sailing that I have booked.
Overpriced rooms = unsold rooms = need new plan= no release of 2014 sailings yet

That said, the 2013-14 school calendar was released yesterday, so now I am armed and ready!

:) Excited to see what DCL has for us!

Apparently none of the cruise lines start out with reasonable pricing. If they did, I wouldn't get constant emails from Carnival or Royal with rock bottom specials for me to cruise.

Maybe people feel like they don't have the money to cruise with the economy "in the tank" feeling so nothing is selling as well.

Whatever the reason, I'm excited to see what they have for 2014. Two cruises in the chute in the next 7 months. Going to book next one this Dec sailing in prep for release.

depends imo...mostly as to the popularity of a cruise (best/port intensive/special itinerary, age of ship, time of year)

CCL especially seems to have a 'rack rate' out of the gate. Then they add special rates (military, senior, resident, past guest within a few months). Many of the really big promos come out after final payment date has passed, but i'm not that flexible with vacation time. Lots of CCL guest book the ESB rate (early saver best rate) early, then keep checking to price match up until day prior to sailing for OBCs. It worked out very well for us once.:thumbsup2 The rate basically locks you into the sailing, albiet with a cancellation fee if you really need to cancel and rebook within a certain time period.

With the influx of DCL sales, it does seem that those who book early stand chance of 'overpaying'. Even though DCL is pricey, it used to be comforting to know if i booked early i'd usually have the best rate. Some cruises the fare for my cabin increased almost 50%. Now, other than being able to obtain a specific cabin, i'm beginning to rethink booking early.:confused3 It would be a nice gesture if DCL would offer some sort of early saver rate for those loyal enough to commit to a specific cruise far in advance.

I'm just hoping they don't release the dates when i'm on vacation in January:worried:

Not true. When we booked our Alaska cruise on HAL, we booked in March of 2011 for May of 2012. The price was VERY reasonable and a couple thousand cheaper than Disney's. Their pricing did not even rise for the first six months that their bookings were open (unlike Disney). I've found amazing prices on other lines at the beginning of their new itinerary openings. Disney is the only line I know of that lets their prices shoot up by the thousands in just a few hours :(

They are in trouble... I believe they recently gave away 100 free cruises for Miami cruising in this December in Facebook. Celebrating the new port.....

WOW, that's a lot of promotional money they're putting out there!

We cruise high $$$$ time. It pays to book early. Both the cruises I have booked have increased tremendously. Now if I was sailing low season times, I'd wait to the last minute because I know there would be a lot availability just like on other lines.

I didn't mean that the other lines don't start out thousands of dollars cheaper, I meant that even though they are cheaper, they still offer huge discounts on unsold cabins closer to sail date just like DCL.

And I receive a lot of rock bottom price offers from other cruise lines.

The Miami cruise sales must be really weak. DCL has never given away a 100 free cruises to promote a new port. With all of the discounts on the Galveston sailings, they are practically giving those away. With the Miami cruises, they ARE giving them away!!:lmao:

Yeah, but the other cruise lines have a lot more than 4 ships. ;)

The sail dates not selling well are during school time and Disney is geared to families with children. Looks like that they sell fine during school break.

Thank goodness there is a large group of brands to choose from. People who are unhappy with their release schedule and price have good choices elsewhere.

Then again, who wants to cruise from NYC in Dec? Unless it's a really long cruise, at least 2 days in each direction will be too cold to enjoy the outdoor activities. It wasn't that cold in Alaska!

This is true . I thought it was to cold in the pool deck in June . I can only imagine dec .

between MIA & FLL lots lots of competition/bargins, especially for FLA residents or those who can do the pack and go cruises.

I looked into one of the DCL cruises originating from there for a vacation week i needed to fill but Castaway Cay was missing:eek:from itinerary, a deal-breaker for us but pricing wasn't bad either.

Now for the changes.

We noticed that once again the Jamaica port calendar has changed. There will be the same unknown ship, that turned out to be the Wonder, every other week starting May 14. We also noticed that the Grand Cayman schedule has also changed. The Magic is no longer on the port calendar. Instead, only the Fantasy and Wonder will make calls on Grand Cayman. We are seeing the Disney Wonder on the port calendar twice a month between January and April. This would be the schedule we would expect if the Magic were continuing her schedule at the end of 2013.

With the changes to the Jamaica calendar, we anticipate that the Disney Fantasy will pick up Jamaica on Western Caribbean sailings between May and December.

Here is our prediction. The Disney Wonder will move from Galveston back to Miami at the beginning of January. She will then alternate 4 and 5 night sailings much the same as what the Magic is set to do at the end of 2013. We predict a schedule like this:

. January 10, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. January 15, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. January 19, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. January 24, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. January 29, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. February 2, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. February 7, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. February 12, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. February 16, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. February 21, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. February 26, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. March 2, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. March 7, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. March 12, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. March 16, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. March 21, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. March 26, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. March 30, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. April 4, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)
. April 9, 2014 - 4 Night Bahamas (Key West & Castaway Cay)
. April 13, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Cozumel & Castaway Cay)
. April 18, 2014 - 5 Night Western (Grand Cayman & Cozumel)

After this we cannot predict what will happen since the ship is no longer on the port calendars.

That leaves the Disney Magic and this one is a big mystery. Will she stay in Miami or move to another port of call? We do think it´s possible she will stay in Miami and possibly alternate Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. If she does this, we anticipate there will be different ports of call than the Disney Fantasy as we are not seeing the Disney Magic on either Grand Cayman or St. Maarten´s port calendars. She could also alternate 3 and 4 night sailings to the Bahamas or Key West. It´s hard to say.

While we have no specific knowledge of a release date, we will suggest that this could be before Christmas since these itineraries are not dramatically different from what the ships are doing at the end of 2013. We don´t anticipate that the entire year will be released, but could see the first half at that time.

Thank you for posting this, but I have to say *yawn* DCL *yawn*.

Just more of the same. Really hoping that the Magic offers something more exciting!

I'm hoping that DCL will put a ship on the west coast, at least for a few cruises (besides Alaska). Since they are already coming to the west coast for the Alaska cruises, they could stick a couple of Pacific Coastal ones in, and maybe a Hawaii one, once in a while.

What would you like to see that would make it less yawn worthy?

We live close to Galveston. Any and all cruise ships can leave Cozumel, Costa Maya and the like off their schedules.

I have to admit though, I'm not crazy about Caribbean ports. I'd like to see something a little more grand.

ITA! If those itineraries turn out to be correct I'm sure we will see some "fire sale" pricing. ;)
ITA...they may so well offer *GT rates now! How many times can DCL repeaters do the same itineraries over and over? Even if they depart from different home ports (NYC, Galveston, Miami, etc), they still have very little variation in port schedules between ships. Nothing they haven't offered in previous years times ten. They must be vying for new cruisers.

I understand those on the West Coast would want a ship based there, but they would have to come up with something better than the Mexican Riviera and, I'm sorry, but IMHO, their Alaskan itineraries sort of suck compared to other cruise lines.

Still holding out hope that the Magic does something cool instead of the Caribbean/Bahamas.
