Breaking news...Pete retrackts rant

I could hardly believe my ears. Pete actually retracted a rant about decorating the damn parks.

I have to say that I agree with the rant and not the retraction. While each of the parks does something special that takes money, other non Disney parks decorate and do something special.

Example for me, Hershey Park puts up a ton of lights through the park (note not all of the park is open due to cold). But they also have a dancing light show that runs every 30 min that is very nice and popular. They also have a drive through light display ($20 per car) outside the park.

Point is, I feel the rant was warranted.

Honestly, I don't want Christmas decorations in Frontierland or Fantasyland. Main Street and the castle is fine with me.

My only issue with the recant is while they do offer all these things such as the Osbornse lights, the Christmas party and the Candlelight processional. These are not free events.

There is a charge for the Christmas party and for that amount they can decorate the entire park.

The Candlelight processional has a dinner package. but it is open to the general public and worth seeing.

The only one that comes with your ticket that you buy for a day is the Osborne lights.

I have not been this year only last year and I was not impressed. Maybe Dustin can put up some Decoration tours on YouTube. Just trying to keep him employed

I've just started the episode with the rant and haven't gotten to the retraction yet but the first thing I thought was of course Disneyland can decorate the whole park, they don't have to also decorate 3 other parks and 24 resorts along with a much larger Downtown Disney. There is a set budget for Christmas decorations and if they are going to decorate the rest of Magic Kingdom that has to come from somewhere else, it won't be in addition to everything else.

Not decorating the entire castle though is just poor show and that should be fixed.

I think Frontierland would be amazing with decorations.

DL may have fewer parks, but that is no reason to not decorate. I don't even understand why people bring that up.

I don't think they should put it all up in November, but I do think there should be some decoration everywhere...and I think they should bring the hotels up to snuff.

But mostly, I want the 'Twas show, the Cristmas Country Bears and the LoW back. The Epcot walkway is so desolate without them. :(

I have photos from 2007 and 2008, and I went and looked at them, and sure enough, they NEVER did the back of the castle. In all my pictures, the icicle lights stop just after the front of the castle. And I NEVER NOTICED that in the 4 years I've seen it! I thought the castle was gorgeous, and took many fabulous photos, and it never *once* occurred to me "Gee, they should have put those lights all around the castle." It looks fabulous the way it is. I'm not sure why Pete noticed it this year, and not in the past, but I don't think it's "half done" at all.

Sayhello

I can almost understand the castle front only being decorated. I only decorate the front of my house, not the back. :)

We recently toured the new Fantasyland and I brought this up to the Disney rep with us. He told us that since there is now more focus on the area behind the castle, next year they would be decorating the back side too! Now I think it's crazy it hasn't always been this way, but here's hoping this guy was right!

Right, but now that they are building up Fantasyland more people will be back there viewing the castle. I think not thinking of that and adjusting the castle lights accordingly was bad show.

I didn't see this before responding but I'm glad they realized they made a mistake and will correct it.

Was the MK once entirely decorated for Christmas and I mean decorated well, not just a wreath here and there? Were all the Lands decorated well?

We went to the Christmas party a couple of years ago for the first time and I remember being very disappointed because I thought the entire park would be decked out. Since we had never been before prior to that year, I had nothing to compare it to.

We agree with the rant. It feels like Christmas in the front of the park, but once you get off main st. it's like what happened. Would be nice to see decorations through out whole MK.

I think it'd be fun to see the various lands decorated using their theme. It is similar to the resorts and how they do so. Futuristic ornaments and silver wreaths come to mind for Tomorrowland. Something rustic for Frontierland. What else could they have? :)

Even Disneyland doesn't decorate Tomorrowland. There is no Christmas in the future. :confused3

You know there was a period where the space age figured heavily into furniture and decorations. Silver trees. Spaceship decorations.

Adventureland- Decorate the Tiki's with tinsel. Twine garlands with pirate flags. Put small tikis in wreaths.

Frontierland. Garland and trees made out of sticks. The stars on top a Sheriff's star. Gingham and red plaid used as fabric pieces.

Liberty Square- They could do what Colonial Williamsburg does. While CW does fresh fruit, WDW could do fake fruit that looks real.

Fantasyland- Near Cindy's castle have decoration inspired by her. Also the same with Beast's castle. Decorate as the characters would.
