For those staying onsite, do you do EMHs or avoid them?

If staying onsite, which do you tend to do?

  • Go to MK a.m. EMH

  • Go to MK p.m. EMH

  • Go to HS a.m. EMH

  • Go to HS p.m. EMH

  • Go to EPCOT a.m. EMH

  • Go to EPCOT p.m. EMH

  • Go to AK a.m. EMH

  • Go to AK p.m. EMH

  • avoid all a.m. EMH

  • avoid all p.m. EMH

  • We always stay offsite, so we don't have a choice.

  • We go to EMH if we feel like it at the time.

Sorry if there has been a thread about this recently, but I was curious as to whether people usually avoid EMH or take advantage of them when staying onsite.

My plan is to attend EMH for AK both AM and PM, Magical Kingdom PM EMH and DHS AM EMH.

I fully take advantage. At first, it's crowded and annoying (since you have to show a key) but then it thins out and it's amazing time!

~We take advantage of all evening EMH! Unfortunately, Disney cuts the evening hours for the parks toward the end of August just before Labor Day, so evening EMH is very important to us. Also, the end of August is very *HOT* during the day, but the nights are just fabulous!!! The only time we use morning EMH is on departure day, it's just amazing how much we accomplish in that first hour! Have fun! :goodvibes

We lucked out this time last year. Monday was EMH for MK and it was open until midnight. The weather was cool, but comfortable.

It had rained all afternoon and the park had cleared out. We went to dinner, back to the resort to dry out and change and went back to MK around 8 pm.

We practically had the place to ourselves. As quickly as we deboarded the rides, we were back in line again. It was a gift!

we are am emh folk in all parks, love them.
they are the reason for staying onsite.

may try pm emh at hs and mk, but that's probably just one evening each. :goodvibes

Interesting results so far - no clear winner.

We're in the camp of (usually) avoiding the park with morning EMH. We'll do the MK's evening EMH if we've had a nap that day. Otherwise we seldom pay attention to EMH's.

We tend to go to WDW for 10 days per trip and tend to go during the quieter times of year....

that said

- we never go to pm EMH - we leave the parks by 7 pm (except for parties or Osbourne Lights)

- we almost always go to DHS morning EMH (love TSM!)

- we rarely go to Epcot morning EMH

- we rarely go to MK morning EMH (we love meeting the characters that aren't out that early so we go on the quieter days - Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday)

- we really like to go to AK morning EMH because the really early Safari rides are great!

probably not helpful but that's what we tend to do.

We avoid. We're not early morning or late evening people, so I pick the park we go to based on which one is supposed to be least least crowded.

I never understand why people say to avoid it. It's a perk of staying on site and you can always leave if it's not for you. It doesn't cost you anything so no harm no foul.

Instead of using a question on the poll to find out who stays offsite, I should have asked who goes to a different park before or after the EMH (park hops to only use the EMH).

If you don't have park hopper tickets, then you are stuck if you went to the EMH a.m. park. But, yes, you can leave the p.m. EMH park and go back to your resort.

We're not getting park hoppers, so we can't leave and go to another park if it gets too crowded.

Plus - I have a 4 year old. She doesn't nap and we need to get as much sleep into her as possible without missing out on a lot.

So - we will avoid the EMH parks.

I think it depends on you. EMH really are a great thing. They're hardly ever MORE crowded than any regular hours. So if you like mornings and want to wake up early and enjoy that first hour, then absolutely do it. The park may get more crowded as the day goes on but at least you had a great start!

And if you like nights, don't mind staying up late, enjoy the evening EMH too! It's a good time to fit in those big rides after all crabby families head home after an after dinner tantrum. :)

True but It was your choice to go to the AM EMH park, that doesn't mean they're awful.

I almost always take advantage of pm EMH. Almost never do for the am hours.

I only go to the nighttime ones at Magic Kingdom. Never mornings, and never any other park (did Epcot once but never left the pub)

Is there a better way to spend it? :confused3 ;)

I woudn't know...it was useful to learn the pub stayed open during EMH, that was about 4 years ago, there ended up being sort of a wake for the Adventurers Club going on in there.
