San Angel Inn

Yes! We were there last week and I was leery because of the reviews, but I am so glad we tried it! I had Pollo de la Rajos (not sure if that is correct spelling bit close enough) and it was delishious! My DS had fish tacos and loved them and DH had steak and also loved it. Our server was Martin and he did an outstanding job! Also love the atmosphere.

We go every trip (most recently July) and enjoy - highly recommend the sopa azteca, a tortilla soup, and fish tacos.

My parents and sister were there just last night, and they loved it. My sister got enchiladas and my dad got the beef tacos (not sure what my mom got), and they had cheesecake for dessert. My sister doesn't like anything tomatilla, so she got her enchiladas with the sauce removed and enjoyed it greatly. My dad's beef tacos had large strips of steak in it, which he enjoyed, and slices of avocado (which he likes), and he thought they were great. He liked the tortilla chips and sauce, and my mom said the cheesecake was the best she ever had. All in all, they thought it was great, and they would return.

Thanks for the report! We are eating at San Angel Inn next week and I cannot wait!
Wonder if they have changed the menu as cheesecake is not listed on the menus I have seen.

NOTE: Eatery inside the Mexico pavilion serving lunch and dinner. As
with many WDW restaurants, the price is pretty steep for the food quality
and quantity. The ambiance of the restaurant is quiet and serene, which
cannot be found in most WDW establishments. The view of the "river" and
the overhead "sky" makes for an enjoyable meal. The Mexican food is well
Americanized and not for the true South-of-the-Border food enthusiast.
The lunch and dinner soups, entrées, desserts, chef specials are the pretty
much the same. There are, however, differences in the traditional Mexican
lunch and dinner meals. As with several eateries at Disney, the meal portions
are ample enough for even big eaters. Per Disney, the eatery is the only one
in Mexico to officially honor the TIW card.

Wow! That is different for sure. Wonder what else has changed. Oh I hope the appetizer I have been wanting again since last Dec is not gone. It was chicken on fried corn tortillas.

Did you eat lunch or dinner?

We had dinner. I did not notice what they had for appetizers. But I'd ask your server if they have them even if they are not on the menu because the churros were not on the menu.

We went there for lunch a few months ago and loved it. Try the cocktails! Awesome and strong! A bit too strong for me, but we enjoyed the food as well.

How is this restaurant? Dark! Take a flashlight to read the menu!

How is the food at this restaurant? Quite good. I, too, enjoyed the Pollo A Las Rajas. I thought Crema Bavaria, a delightful blend that tasted like whipped white chocolate mousse mixed with fresh berries was one of the best desserts I've ever had. I was sad to see that they removed the crab cakes 3 ways from the appetizer menu. The sopa Azteca was a good, but not excellent, substitute. Likewise, the bread pudding dessert we remember having for years and years was also gone from the menu.

Thanks for all the reviews! I am going to make a reservation for my Jan trip.

We ate there for the first time in several years last month and enjoyed our lunch - the quality of the food seems to have improved plus the margaritas are sourced from Cava now (and SA honors TIW so it's probably a good new alternative to Cava for drinks/appetizers).
