Intro

Hello fellows DISers and welcome to my new TR !!

We had planned this trip earlier this year, but cancelled it when I found out I was having surgery on my ankle. We thought I would still be in a cast at Thanksgiving, but I got my cast off on Halloween and after a couple of days, DH said to book something for Thanksgiving. Well, he didn't have to ask me twice. I booked that trip so fast his head spun (but not in a creepy Exorcist kinda way).

On July 23, I was coming down the stairs at our house and as I was descending, the dog was at the front window barking at something and my focus shifted from the stairs and onto whatever was causing the dog to spaz out. And I am not sure exactly what happened, but I fell down the remaining stairs injuring my left ankle very badly.

I had surgery September 20. It is a very painful surgery and it is VERY slow to heal. So even though I had my cast off, I was still in a walking boot and still in a decent amount of pain. So walking 8-10 miles a day was out of the question. So we rented a scooter - again.

In case anyone is wondering how long it has been since my injury occurred - it has been FOUR months. And I am still in a walking boot and not able to get around very well. It has been horrible. So I was happy to be getting another trip to Disney to cheer me up. So with my scooter rental and a bottle of pain pills, we were off !!

SO &&. Let me finally get down to introductions and trip details.

When: November 21-25, 2012

:welcome: so happy to have to back to follow along !!

I see at least one picture from the Segway tour was taken. ;) Ride on scooter mom!

:welcome: My Disney bestie !!

Yep - that photo was one of three and the other two looked just like that one. Epic fail on the photo taking of the tour. But I will let him slide, I guess since he had to have both hands on the Segway.

Day 1 – Part 1

DH loves to drive at night because the lack of traffic. We try to leave super early and we usually get there in pretty good time. We are pretty tired at the end of that first day, but it works out well for him, so I go with it.
We headed out around 2 AM and the kids and I tried to sleep some in the car. I woke about 6 AM and we were over halfway there.

DH concentrating on driving and getting us to Disney as fast as possible

I find Waffle House dirty and prefer not to eat there, but the food is always decent and the kids love it, so I go along.

We hopped back in the car and I took some boring photos

We parked in handicap parking.

I have a temporary handicap placard from our DMV. Having it with us made things much easier since I can’t walk very well.

These are standard issue at our public schools now. I wouldn’t buy him something that expensive. But he has done a really good job of keeping up with it and he enjoys listening to his music and keeping in touch with his friends, so he used it a lot on this trip.

Some pretty Christmas decorations

We are DVC members and we only had a certain number of points left we could use, so I booked a deluxe studio for the first night and then a one bedroom for the remainder of our stay. I had requested Congress Park, but they didn’t have anything available, so they chose a room that was available in the Springs section.

Great pictures. I'm with DD love the pillows. I have to say tho the hose on them looks like Mulan's or from one of the shows.

I have actually been looking for who the horses actually are. DD said that she thought one of them looked like Mulan's horse, too and she thought the other was Maximus from Tangled. But I can't find anything to back it up yet. I will keep looking though. Let me know if you can find anything. :goodvibes

I'm in! Great start! I love all of the SSR pictures, it looks like such a lovely resort! :thumbsup2

:welcome: Hey Jen !! Thanks so much for joining in. We love all of the Disney resorts and SSR didn't disappoint. It was lovely, quiet and comfortable. And we love how close it is to DTD.

Your room at SSR looks so nice! I love how bright it is! :goodvibes

It was good for the one night. I don't think I would have wanted to stay there for a whole week. Just because it was kinda cramped with all of us. We switched to a 1 bedroom the next day and it had lots more space. I have pictures !!

One of the horses is Maximus from Tangled. We were dismayed he was not represented in all the horse portraits in the lobby. :lmao: The other I'm pretty sure is Phillipe from Beauty and the Beast.
