I am planning to stay at Pop for the first time in January. I haven't actually booked the hotel/tickets yet but plan to do so next week (already got airfare and rental car!!).

I'm very excited about this unexpected short trip and I hope I will love Pop!

:woohoo: Unexpected is GOOD!! :thumbsup2 Hope you love POP and pack a lot into your short trip!

Thanks! :) We are going to wait until Jan. to book. So here's hoping! :) I probably won't be able to keep it a secret.. I keep asking them stuff about Disney! LOL So I'll probably cave.

I am a bit nervous to go back. Last trip ended on a sad note. We found out that my sister had a brain tumor and it was cancer while we were there. I sat on Main street and just cried. So I am anxious about that and hope those memories don't overwhelm our visit.

So sorry Marla ... you are bound to have your sister in your thoughts, so hope you can go and enjoy the time with your family ... Perhaps concentrate on something positive currently with your sister (how are her treatments going?)

Also, last time we stayed behind the big Mickey phone. :) We LOVED that location. We were on the back side of that building on the second floor. What type of room would that be now? Since the room options have changed since we were last there, I don't know what type of room that would be. But, we would love to stay in that same area. :)

(It was just a regular standard room two years ago)

Bldg 6 has the mickey phone ... and yes, those rooms are still standard .... :goodvibes

Checking in this Thursday for 15 days...We usually stay at a moderate hotel but I heard so many good things about POP we thought we would give it a try...How are the preferred rooms? I chose the 70's building ground floor.

Thanks!

Preferred areas are great ... and the 70s is no expection .. .nice and convenient to classic hall and busing ... it's all good!!

Hi, me and my dd will be staying at Pop for the first time Jan.17-27. for her 10th birthday. This will be our first time at a value. I would like to be close to the food court, so is 60's the best area to request. Thanks.:)

Yes, the 60's buildings are closest to the food court, although the 70's buildings, and buildings 1 and 3 in the 50's are fairly close too.

We are booked for a week at POP beginning February 3rd...SO EXCITED! We just got back from a week in October for the F & W festival and stayed at CBR. I am soo looking forward to being back at POP!!:cool1:

:yay: what a nice post holiday treat! :)

Ok so I have read all 45 pages of this thread :) love catching up on new info and being prepared. We haven't been to DW since 2009 stayed at the Pop and hubby didn't even get to go (his last visit was 1997 for honeymoon). Really glad to hear about upgrades and that we can walk to AoA.
Quick room question - our DS 12 is in the autism spectrum and the pool is a must. We are going 1/12- 19 and yes, no matter what the temp., he will swim every day. On our last visit we were pool side 1st floor. That would be really helpful again this year, with the many visits and amount of time at the pool.
Do I just call and explain this, do online reservations and note it, or just wait till I arrive? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Also hoping for Play/Stay/Dine package to hold out till we have the cash to pay. It would really help our budget but not making that reservation till we have the cash to pay. Anyone have a clue how long that special will be available?

Pool View is a bookable category now and costs extra. It's not just a request anymore. You can book Preferred Pool View to be in the 60's or just Pool View for the other pools. That information is in the first post of this thread.

I can't help with your pool view question, but I am also looking at going in Jan. on the Play/Stay/Dine package. I think I read that you must book by 12/31 (which I am guessing you're planning to do for a vacation that begins on 1/12), so you should be good.

EpcotBill is correct. The pool view rooms are a category that you can book. If it is important to you to have a pool view, you should book that category. You can also request a first floor room if that is something that helped you out last time. That is a request that you can make by phone and is also something you can request during on-line check in.

Hope your family has a great vacation.

I wanted to add that since this is a medical concern you can ask the CM when booking to refer the reservation to Disney Resort Special Needs - explain that your request for a 1st floor room, poolside location is for your special needs son.

You can also call Disney Resort Special Needs after the reservation is made, (with reservation # handy) and let them know that your request is for your son's medical need. As long as you have booked a pool view category, they will likely be sure you have a poolside room. We also have a direct number to special needs on the first page of this thread - 407-939-7807 choose option #1. :)

Hope this helps! Happy Planning! :goodvibes
p.s. Jan 11, 12 and 13 is Marathon Weekend and you are arriving in the middle of it, so please, when booking be sure to let the CM know your room location request is for a medical special need. If you haven't been during Marathon weekend before, expect traffic to be mess on Saturday and Sunday morning for several hours. :thumbsup2

I'm booked with free dining!!! 58 days!!!! Had to change resorts but I'm excited to stay "home" again !!

Did you have to book a preferred room? We got a FD pin as well and booked, but they only had preferred rooms (which we didn't even want) so we are paying that extra 15$ a night...which actually only makes it 10$ cheaper than the S/P/D deal, but I would love to have gotten just a regular room and saved a little more!

No I could have got a standard room but our travel dates (my dates 1/21-1/25)could be different and that may have been all they had available for your dates if not they are they same idk why they would I would call disney back and find out

Also I forgot to ask for a king bed being a solo trip what are the odds of me getting one without calling back and requesting one I plan on online check so it will all be ready when I get there, should I just call them back??? Or hope that they will since its a solo trip??

Definitely call and have the king bed request added to your reservation.

As dansdad posted, definitely add the King request to your reservation; please remember though that King beds are limited in supply.

Here's hoping for some pixie dust for that request get granted!! :goodvibes Oh, and congrats on booking FD and returning "home". :hippie:

Suggest you keep checking back with Disney up to 45 days out, to see if a another category becomes available under the promotion, as people change or cancel reservations quite often. :goodvibes We have been able to do in the past successfully. Good luck!!
