Just booked our first Poly stay August 15-24th 2013....soooooo excited!!! Will we ever want to stay anywhere else again??????

We will be at the Poly a week from tomorrow. We just booked it last week so haven't had much time to do my favorite part, which is a lot of anticipation and planning but looking forward to going. I hope the weather is nice. Can't wait to go!

As I sit by my fireplace, happy to have the chill in the air today replaced by its warmth, and dreaming of our trip in about 7 1/2 months, I'm wondering how unbearable the heat & humidity will be mid July? We are planning only 1/2 day in MK; the rest of the time will be spent at the Pool (planning on getting a cabana), in the CL lounge and at restaurants.

We've never gone to WDW in July, but it's been pretty brutally hot in June.

Thanks.

If you found June brutally hot, July will not disappoint--it too will be brutally hot for you and more rain likely. When our kids were still traveling with us, we usually went in June, but have done July as well. We love the HOT weather, but then again, we always ate lunch somewhere and returned for the heat of the day at the resort for hours of pool time. We would head back out after the sun began to set and the heat was diminishing.

Honestly, I don't know how people do it when they spend the entire day in a park during the summer! :confused3 We found the pool time a great balance. I suppose though when you only visit once or twice in a lifetime, those people want to make the most of their time. The benefit of visiting every year or a couple times a year is not feeling the need to spend every waking moment at a park.

No. You will have a coffee brewer and that is the closest. Not being a coffee drinker I don't pay much attention to it but I think it brews a cup at a time. It may be able to heat your water for you though. The other option would be to request a microwave. Plus, the only other "kitchen" item that you will have in the room is a mini-fridge.

The "coffee makers" at the Poly are the pod type and will do a cup at a time. The coffee provided is Cuisinart brand. I have never used the pod system as I bring a hot water boiler and make my own real coffee. An immersion heater would work well to make water hot for tea.

Okay, if the Poly has the pod-type of coffee makers, can you make tea at all? Or hot water, say, for oatmeal? I'm a tea drinker, and I get up early, so I'd be looking for my caffeine fix at 5am or so. I'll have a refillable mug, but I'll be playign single parent to two kids (DD9, DS6), and I'm not keen on leaving them in the room alone while I head to the GCH...

Absolutely, just put water into it without the pods--it will make hot water. There are tea bags in the room and you simply process the water through into the pot.

Haven't had much DIS time at all, but thought I'd pop in here. We're headed to BWI in just over a week and a half. We're there for two nights, then back home to the Poly!! We're doing the rest of the week in a TPV CL room...our fave!!

So, anything new I need to know that I might miss while doing a little back-reading?

I was just reading some of the posts here a few pages back that tell me the POLY is renovating next spring ? I am currently booked for the end of next April at the POR and was considering switching our ressie to a POLY stay...is this going to be next to impossible at this point ? It would be our 1st time at the POLY and now I'm worried it won't happen ! It's too late (or perhaps too early) to call for reservations right now (3a.m.) ! How will I ever sleep worrying about this?! Can't wait for the morning to come so I can call.....:confused3

You may have a problem if you are trying to book a regular GV room under a discount. I know they have been scarce. I haven't been able to get one for April.

Hey all! I am here to do a ticker dance with the creepy Elvis :dancer:

It has been a long time since I have been on here but there is nothing like booking a new trip to cure PPDS (Post Poly Depression Syndrome) :thumbsup2

I can't wait for F&W, MNSSHP, to see the new rooms and to party at the Poly with my adopted family! :grouphug:

I am looking forward to planning a great week with lots of new adventures with all the changes and opening of Fantasyland pixiedust:

What is the schedule for the Poly refurb? We might be switching to the Poly for our May trip.

I'm wondering this as well. Timeframe and what will be affected.

Well some ppl were saying that they will be renovating rooms at the POLY the early part of 2013. I have called twice to change from POR Royal Room to a POLY GV and there weren't any available.I asked about the refurbs and she told me there wasn't anything saying this was going to happen ?:confused3 They only had GV CL or LV or MK view. I ended up taking a LV and even added an extra night ! :thumbsup2:crazy2: The price difference is outrageous but what the heck...They told me rooms open up all the time,I can try for a garden view later, but at least I know I have a POLY room booked :goodvibes our 1st stay here and I'm sooo excited ! DH doesn't know yet. I guess he'll find out when we board the Magical Express next April. :teeth: He really loves POR so I think he will learn to love the POLY even more ! When they give you a Lagoon view are there any specific buildings they have set aside for that? I would love a 1st floor and something close to the GCH...any special request I should make ? Thanks.
