And these are the {Resort} Changes of our Lives ~In Memory of JungleCruiser <3

Hello all!! It's been a while since I've posted on the RC threads, and I really thought I had gotten over resort changing. We went to WDW in June and stayed at the Pop Century. I finally convinced the DH to go back in June 2013 and to book an Arusha view room at the AKL. I'm just worried about the cost, and if we will really spend enough time on the balcony to warrant the extra cost. Plus,if they have any discounts that view/resort combo probably won't be included. Now I can't stop thinking about where we should stay if I need to change, and if I should go ahead and change. I know that mousesavers has a list of discounts offered in the past, but I don't think they include the resort/view that qualified for that discount. Anyone, know if you can find that information any where? I'm thinking if I do I would either change to the WL or CSR. I swear the best and worst thing about WDW is all the resort options. It's like they are making it hard on purpose just to mess with our heads!!

Great to see you  How are you??? Health is good??? Miss you!!! Yes agreed the resort options are :faint: and :wizard: I think you'd like WL!! (AKL is awesome as well) but you were going to stay FWC...way back when, and you liked the area...but the AKL pool is pretty awesome, you don't need the Arusha view to enjoy the reort..there are viewing areas EVERYWHERE :woohoo:

:welcome: BACK party:

So what was Disney thinking???? :confused3 They decided to open the ADRs for the the January Dessert Parties in the afternoon of Black Friday?!?! But yes I did manage to get reservations for the RC trip!!! :thumbsup2

Linda

Glad you scored the ADR for the dessert party had I remembered you were waiting for January I would have sent you a PM but my memory is not what it use to be :rotfl:

Hope everyone had a nice ThanksGiving ours was quiet Bob his Mom and I plus the 2 dogs. I did announce that next year we are going somewhere for the Holiday.

Hi all:wave2:Happy belated Thanksgiving. Dh has been in LA for 2 weeks. He didn't make it home for the Holiday. My mom was here for 2 weeks watching the kids:eek: I love my mom, but 2 weeks.:scared:I have to say this has not been a stellar last two months. Anyway were off to Los Angeles in the am. I'm upgrading my passes to the premier. I booked 3 nights at the Grand California with 30% off. Dh is working, but he gets of at 2pm. Hopefully this is his last week of training. I think I am going to continue ft and him pt. He is going to do some work from home. I just can't handle the boys as well as he can. They really need their dad to lay down the law. I didn't realize how much until the past 2 weeks. :sad2:

I just decided to do all this today when I got called in for my second overtime shift. I love spontaneous trips. I'll let you guys know what I think of the left coast Disney. I have been few dozen times, but not in the last 5 years.

May 1-14 and Sept 7-15 will be our Orlando trips. I won't even try to guess how those trips will end up, but I got lots of ideas running around in my head.

 How are you? I'm good, just busy. Health is good, better when I remember to take the meds. The inlaws, and all their drama, has kept me so busy I have slipped back into the habit of forgetting to take them every time. Our oldest son started high school. He didn't get to play much football thanks to a concussion and maybe a small 2nd concussion just as he got back to playing. The youngest started football this year, and might do it next year. I don't remember if I talked about it here or not, but I not only figured out how to make the scarf I was trying to make, but finished it. It's stripes on one side, solid green on the other, with Mickey Heads. I'll just post a pic, it'll be easier..
FinishedMHscarf.jpg

The WL is awesome!! We stayed there in 2006 and loved it!! I thought about just picking a different room type at the AKL, but if I stay there I really want a savanna view. I know you can still enjoy the animals with out one, but that is the main reason for staying there. I do have some time to decide what to do since the trip isn't until June and they probably won't announce any discounts in the next couple of days.

Hi Candace  I just had to say, you've got a great man who loves and supports you, great kids who adore you, and if it's meant to be that you're blessed with another, it'll happen in time :) God doesn't punish us or play the guilt game or the barter game "I'll do this if you do this" don't ever worry it was something you did or said that is putting up an obstacle. if it's meant to be, it'll be , I hope it works out however you and DH would like it to! one things for sure, YOU ARE AN AMAZING Mommy!

Melissa, Interviews where on WED......they'll offer next FRI, but the start day won't be till the new Yr JAN 2 :crazy2: ugh! another month of full time! I'm so ready for it to be over! :p

:wave2: Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Trying to get back into the DIS ...

Any Kookstalicious sightings? Our Pop Century Princess?

Miss... Right here ... :)

Having some health issues with the clinical trial, those side effects :scared:. Taking me off the drugs for the week :goodvibes and doing some tests. It's nice with the holiday to feel more like myself! :flower3:

Sarah, so sorry about your health issues. Your nice quiet holiday with DH and the girls sounds just what the doctor ordered. hmmm... how 'bout a lunch soon with a certain PA RCer? :) (and maybe we can snag our elusive Pas .. )

DetTigsGirl ... Hope you are having a fantastic time!! :cool1:

I Heart ... sorry you thanksgiving was spoiled by your MIL; agree that next year is the time to start you thanksgiving tradition at home.

Jenny... :yay: for ordering the AG dolls!! We love them; my DD started with Bitty Baby and then moved on to the dolls, and yes her first one was Samantha!! The $$ is worth it. And with your DH's bonus ...the sky's the limit, right? :)

Heather... SO good to "see" you back on the RC thread ::yes:: Love seeing Faith pictures with her AG doll!

Melissa ... sounds like the CL splurge is coming at a good time with your recent health issues ... I say go and enjoy!!

Marie ... so happy you took Friday off, your sanity and well being are more important than a day of OT.

MM ... everyone said it so well ...you have a great DH and kids that love you, and if another child comes along, your blessings will be triple! Whatever is right for you and your family is all that matters. ......And Star Wars ??? Fantastic!!

I am thankful for ALL my wonderful DIS family :grouphug:

As I reflect on a wonderful dinner with my kiddos and DH...I also reflect on 2 people I was able to help last night...a newborn who needed surgery, and a very kind man suffering horribly from the "C". The baby has a bright future since she is now in the best Children's hospital around, and soon her mom can be with her...the nice man and his wife, so positive, but scared, he is critically ill...but the love you could feel between them

I am blessed to be able to comfort others if only for a moment...and I am blessed to see CLEARLY how truly blessed I am to have my life each and every day...even when the days are long and hard.....

MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Pas, we are so thankful for you! You said everything so well in this post... love you!

DH and I talked about our Summer trip today! He brought it up, and we kinda went back and forth about things we need, house stuff, car...etc  I laid it on the line...we ARE going on vacation, and I will keep costs reasonable. We ARE going to Disney! And we ARE staying at the GF :yay:

I am so glad I spoke openly with DH, because HRH and I are already planning a trip to the new Spa :cool2:

:woohoo: for the GF!!!! And a spa trip ... .heaven ... :)

Hope everyone had a nice ThanksGiving ours was quiet Bob his Mom and I plus the 2 dogs. I did announce that next year we are going somewhere for the Holiday.

Yes, Sheila ... DISNEY

Padawans ....sorry that your holiday was minus your DH ...and that life's been stressful lately. The DL trip is perfect, and it's good DH can join you. Enjoy!

letthewookwin ... WELCOME BACK!! Good to see you posting here! Sorry about the family drama and older DS med issues... and you, don't be slipping up on your meds!! LOVE, LOVE the scarfs! You are so talented!!

:wave2: Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Trying to get back into the DIS ...

We're having a great one!! We spent Thursday with my family, Friday with the DH's family, today I spent catching up on Castle and knitting, tomorrow I hope to do the same.

letthewookwin ... WELCOME BACK!! Good to see you posting here! Sorry about the family drama and older DS med issues... and you, don't be slipping up on your meds!! LOVE, LOVE the scarfs! You are so talented!!

Thanks. He said that wrestling tryouts will be this next week for Freshmen. Hopefully, he didn't get the date wrong and he'll be ok to try out. This will be the first year he can do wrestling and he really wanted to do it. I need to get better about taking the meds, but I am better than I was.

Thanks about the scarf as well. I'm about to finish up one project, hopefully tomorrow. Then I have to make a MH scarf for a friend's daughter, and make a green hat for me to match the scarf. After that, I offer to make them for free for anyone that sends me the yarn.

Now to figure out what to do about the resort. I am really thinking about changing to be able to afford the DlxDDP and getting a cabana at the water park. I told my DH tonight that if we do change resorts, that my graduation present from him will be a split stay WDW trip 1/2 in an Arusha AKL room and the other at a TPV CR room.

Hello out there! (As Sophia likes to say).

Happy Thanksgiving weekend greetings!

Hard to believe this is my first post on the new thread - life has been interesting, but good around these parts.

Very happy the holidays are beginning - so enjoy Advent and the preparation for Christmas - now that DGD Sophia is 4, we will light the Advent Candle together each week and it will become a special tradition for us.:goodvibes

Sarah, I am so sorry about those darn side effects - praying you'll be feeling better soon...and a Disney trip with a countdown of weeks, rather than months.

Our RC trip did take a bit of a hit with a couple of of us not being able to go, but know those who are gathering together will make some very special memories. Wish I could have been there, but silly ole' life gets in the way at the least appropriate times.:sad2:

Sheila - not long now for your trip!

Hugs to all - miss you!:grouphug:

We also decorated Candace!!! And I am done with the shopping...except for DS4, who breaks everything!

I laid it on the line...we ARE going on vacation, and I will keep costs reasonable. We ARE going to Disney! And we ARE staying at the GF :yay:

I think God blesses us how He sees fit. Sorry if that sounds overly religious Candace

My crazy story...DS was born right after my 17th birthday..DH and I struggled to concieve a second child once the time was right..2 losses, I had given up...then came DS11...then came another loss :sad1: then HRH...then DD6, and 5....(they are 11 months apart) then on BCP DS4 :upsidedow

We never planned such a big family, we were done after 3...but now I am a Mommy to six. It's not easy, what I am saying is it's not for everyone..but despite planning, and not planning...things happen. And it sounds like no matter what..your family is and will always be perfect for you..no matter

WOW!!! :woohoo: I agree June would be better too...but crowds might be a little lighter in May, and plane tickets a wee bit cheaper!
:wave2: Hi sis!!!

Yay for Christmas decorations, and yay for GF!!!!!!! I agree that the time will be right for you this summer, it will be fantastic!!! Might I ask how you are swinging a more than 40% discount?!?!? :scratchin

Hello all!! It's been a while since I've posted on the RC threads, and I really thought I had gotten over resort changing. We went to WDW in June and stayed at the Pop Century. Marie, thank you. This made me smile. I LOVE my family exactly the way it is, and if this is all it's meant to be, than so be it. I just know that we have a lot of love in this family and we don't mind sharing....;)
Whatever comes our way, I know it will be what we are meant to get. :goodvibes

:wave2: Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Trying to get back into the Dis

Thank you Janet! I have to say....sometimes if you are having an issue you just need to talk it out, and you guys really helped me a bunch. It's amazing what a wonderful group we have here. :grouphug:

p.s. letthewookiewin those ARE awesome scarfs!!!

Hope everyone had a nice ThanksGiving ours was quiet Bob his Mom and I plus the 2 dogs. I did announce that next year we are going somewhere for the Holiday.

Great scarf!!! AKL discounts haven't been the greatest lately. You could probably swing Poly for about the same....unless they revamp the discounts a little. Happy to have you back :cool1:
Melissa, Interviews where on WED......they'll offer next FRI, but the start day won't be till the new Yr JAN 2 :crazy2: ugh! another month of full time! I'm so ready for it to be over! :p

Well my day yesterday didn't go exactly as planned!!!

Plan was for DH, DD and I to do a little shopping and lunch downtown to support Small Business Saturday and then DD and I were going to head over to the outlets. Drove downtown, parked, put money in the meter, started walking and that when it all went wrong!!! We were just about to cross the street, DH and DD in front of me, when I slipped on something and took the hardest fall straight down on my left knee .... the last time I felt such pain was 13 years ago when I broke my wrist! Well there I was crumbled on the ground and as luck would have it the fire department was having a meeting of the chiefs across the street at the Starbucks. Two very nice chiefs came rushing over to help me just as I was getting up and offered to take me to the hospital which I declined. I managed to make it back to the truck using DH and DD as crutches ... no way I could put any weight on it! Managed to get home ... now one good thing since DD has had so many knee injuries/surgeries we have crutches and a wheelchair. So instead of a fun day out I spent the rest of the day and evening laying on the couch watching college football. RICE .... without the compression. This morning I am able to put some weight on it but this is not ending up to be the fun filled weekend I had planned!!! Is there a smiley on crutches???? :confused3

A quick hello and happy Sunday to all of you. :grouphug:

So nice to see you back, Letthewookiewin! That scarf is absolutely GORGEOUS! :worship:

Linda: Yikes! Have you been taking anything for it? Ibu?

Christine:  We can keep up on FB now!

Pas: I seriously need to get over to your TR. Missing out. :upsidedow How was your turkey-sicle?! :thumbsup2

Sheila: :banana::banana::banana:

Sarah: How was your Thanksgiving? The turkey came out GREAT! So moist. Love it when it works out as intended. Everything was good except for the rolls (which I didn't make) and no having to gnaw on half-frozen turkey... so I'd call it a success. :rotfl:

Marie: Eesh, another month before you get your respite. It will pass by quickly!

Candace: Came back to late to add anything... but you and your hubs rock, that's all. :goodvibes

I_Heart, Jen and Melissa: Could it be possible that we have the ... same MIL? It all sounds so strangely familiar.

Jen: :rotfl: Oh that Poly comment. :rolleyes1

Is this what you are looking for??:crutches:

Oh, no!!! Hope you are okay. Oh my gosh, have had the same thing happen..and as a former dancer (a million years ago) we have every form of support known to mankind around here as well.

As I mentioned in my text - several years ago I had a very similar fall...waited a couple of days and decided it should be looked at - had 3 hairline fractures! So, please, do consider having it checked out tomorrow?
In the meantime - sending loads of ISPD (Industrial Strength Pixie Dust) for quick healing...and little pain.

Sooo....here I sit, reading the DIS, catching up, enjoying Christmas Music...when on comes "When You Wish Upon A Star"...and here come the tears. It always gets me misty-eyed, but today it was like a faucet broke.

Hello out there! (As Sophia likes to say).

Happy Thanksgiving weekend greetings!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you as well!!

My two cents, we are booked in a pool view at AKL currently. I had always said that I wasn't staying there unless we have a savannah view but given that this will be our 2nd 11 day trip inside of 9 months, DH interested in saving a little bit. It came down to a moderate or what we have now. AKL looks like an amazing resort and I KNOW we will spend about 5 minutes on the balcony during our whole trip, so for us, we will save the $600 it would cost to get savannah view, and perhaps now attend SWW!!!! :yay:

The DH and I usually spend a good amount of time on it, if we have a room with a balcony. We loved it when we stayed at the WL. We had a woods view room on the side with the otter pond. We couldn't see the MK, but we could see the fireworks popping through the trees. Every night as the DS fell asleep, we would sit on the balcony, drinking coffee, talking about the next day. It was a really great way for us to wind down from the day and helped me be able to sleep easier. My problem is, there are just so many places that I want to stay, and I would love to stay at the WL again. I think I'll just keep it like it is, until discounts come out. Then I'm sure we'll have to change it.

p.s. letthewookiewin those ARE awesome scarfs!!!

Thank you, I love making them.

Great scarf!!! AKL discounts haven't been the greatest lately. You could probably swing Poly for about the same....unless they revamp the discounts a little. Happy to have you back :cool1:

The Poly is one of the resorts my DH told me he was interested in staying in when we were talking about where to book. He surprised me with wanting to stay at the GF. After staying at the Pop Century on this last trip, I would really like to stay at a Deluxe this time.

:confused3

I hope you go ahead and have it checked out. You could do more damage to it by not having it checked out. A friend on mine injured her foot several weeks ago, but decided to not have it looked at. After several weeks of it not getting better, she finally went to the doctor. He told her, if she had come in when she first injured it, it wouldn't be as bad as it is now. She may have to have surgery on it.

A quick hello and happy Sunday to all of you. :grouphug:

So nice to see you back, Letthewookiewin! That scarf is absolutely GORGEOUS! :worship:
Happy Sunday to you as well!! :grouphug:

Thank you. It did turn out pretty good. Like I said, when I'm done with the few projects I have, if anyone wants one, all you have to do is ship me the yarn. Otherwise, you are dooming me to be the crazy scarf lady and I will have like 100 scarves that I knitted for myself. Although I do plan to make myself several one color scarves of lots of different colors.

Sooo....here I sit, reading the DIS, catching up, enjoying Christmas Music...when on comes "When You Wish Upon A Star"...and here come the tears. It always gets me misty-eyed, but today it was like a faucet broke.

What is it about Disney that makes us smile and weep?

That song does me the same way. Another Disney song that gets me every time is the Transformation song from the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack. I still cry at that part of the movie.

I don't know if y'all have one already, but has anyone thought of (or made) a RC FB page? I know they have them for DIS'ers going to WDW in the different months. A RC FB group might be fun.

Well, I'm off to get school work done. I have to turn in the outline for my informative speech by 11:59 PM tonight. I'm going easy with this one and doing "How to Book a Disney World Vacation". My last mini-Power Point was about recommending to buy Disney stock based on their recent purchase of Lucasfilms and it got a 100, so I think I'll stick with Disney based presentations.

We do have an RC FB page, but it tends to be VERY quiet. If anyone would like to join us, just let LUV know - she started the group. :)

We'd love for more RCers to join us!

P.S. Candace - know your AKL stay is during a busy weekend, but since AKL is not close to HS, and if AKL is not full, there is a decent chance they might upgrade you to a Savannah view. It happened to us in August on our first stay at AKL - it was brand new, my friend booked a std view with a FL resident discount - at check-in we were upgraded to an Arusha Savannah view (at time we had no idea how bad the std views could be since the resort was new). Not being a fan of zoos I was hesitant to accept the upgrade, but the CM convinced us...all I can say is I had to drag myself off the balcony! BUT I would book a pool view in a heartbeat to save money.... and make two requests: "nice view", "third floor". Fingers crossed for you... some of the pool views are really nice and from some rooms can see a bit of one of the Savannah's. :)

( Today I filled out an application to adopt this little one! http://malteserescue.homestead.com/AdoptMalteseRescuePeanut.html )
