So what's the advantage of online check-in & what does it involve? We haven't been 2 WDW for 4 years so haven't ever had this option before. Thanks in advance for your replies

LOL about your DISboards App on your Blackberry comment but I know what you mean. DH has a blackberry for work and is continually frustrated by the lack of Apps available, (the coy he works for only uses blackberry's as they believe they are more secure data wise). He has an iPod touch that he carries all the time so he can use the apps on it (yes it is reliant on wireless but he just uses his blackberry as a mobile hotspot when necessary). Thanks for the info about online check-in too, does anyone know if it make it any more or less likely you'll b granted a room request?

Loving the DISBoards App on my iPhone :-D

For me, the biggest advantage to online check-in is not having to have the front desk swipe my credit card. I add it during online check-in so it stays in my wallet when I show up at the resort. :)

It's a long-shot that your credit card number will be stolen, but it does happen - yes, even at WDW resorts - so I am happy for anything that will lessen the chance of that occurring! :thumbsup2

I have done online check-in and they still want to swipe my card even if the info is there. I have found there is no advantage whether you do online check - in as far as room assignments.

It depends. Our last trip the online Check-in line was longer. Personally I found it did not speed up the process for us. They have simply ignored our requests.

How hard is it to get room requests met? We need first floor connecting rooms - is it likely we will get that the first week of December?

Interesting. I go to WDW 6 to 8 times a year, often doing split stays. I have been doing online check-in since they first offered it. I have never once had to have my credit card swiped. :confused3

backinoz - If the online check-in line is longer, go to the regular line. Just tell the CM you did online check-in. He/she can get the folder containing your room keys and resort information from the bin. :thumbsup2

There is really no way to know for sure. It all comes down to occupancy levels and checkouts at that time. When you check in, make sure to ask if the rooms meet your request. If they don't, politely ask if there is anything that can be done. They may be able to switch you or they may not. Never hurts to ask.

When we checked in at POR on August 31, 2012 the CM said they received my fax but couldn't accommodate my request. So as of that date they were still reading fax's.

what if I don't have a fax machine?

You can also call the main reservation line and add your requests to your reservation. That's how we always add our requests and have had great success.

Officially booked my room, River view! :) me & my sister will be there in 5 days.

I was debating between this resort & PORS. I have never stayed here before so this one won out. We stayed overnight at PORS & loved it.

POFQ is our resort:lovestruc but you can always walk up to POR , we always go up to their lounge in the evenings to see Yeeha Bob,sometimes even when he isn't there(it's a bigger lounge and has more comfortable chairs right off the lobby). Plus you can use their pools too.
POFQ pool bar has a great group of bartenders with Shelley being the best:worship:
We have only done breakfast at the FC but the Mickey Waffles are fresh & hot .Try to take the boat to DTD to shop &eat an evening or 2.

Can't wait for our 1st family trip January 19th - 26th! Stayed at POFQ in 93 and 99 and love this resort.

On the Disney website, under reservations; there is a number listed for room only and one for package reservations, depending on the type of reservation you have.

Just returned from our 11-24 to 11-30 at the French Quarter. We were in building 6, room 6112 and it was lovely. We have so many beads and the kids made a wish every day. I loved the Magical Express and the ability to get your boarding passes right at the hotel. We had friends that were offsite and had to go through the entire process at the airport. It took them an extra hour to get to the gate.

It was a great walk along the river to Riverside. The pool was fun for the kids. I preferred the Hot tub especially on the 58 degree evening. The food court was very nice and never too crowded. The decor was creepy for the kids at first but then they had fun with it. We had three meals and all were very good. The muffalleta was delish. And of cours the beignets were awesome.

The rooms were nice. The only downside, there were stains on the chair seats and the bench under the window. OH and the granite threshold from the carpet to the tile is deadly slippery if you are not careful. The only noise I heard from neighboring rooms was the toilet and that was no big deal. I never heard outside activity when we were in our room. The walk to the bus was short. We only shared the bus with Riverside during the afternoon bus to and from Epcot and Downtown Disney. But we were the last ones to get on and the first to get off for EPCOT. We took the boat to DTD and that was okay. Much to long of a wait. But the route is very pretty. OKW Treehouse villas are cool.

We would stay again during the cooler season but I do prefer the Caribean Beach Resort Pool during the warmer seasons.

Thanks for all the information that is on this thread. We will hopefully be visiting WDW in two to three years. If we stay during November again this is definately the resort of choice.
