Spring 2013 Professional Internships

Thanks for the update.

That's alright about Traditions. I expressed passion about Traditions because I do think it is such a memorable experience for new cast members, but that's alright. My top one is the DHS one because DHS is my favorite park and I worked there before and just aaaahhhh love DHS :lovestruc

I also expressed interested in the Epcot one primarily because I thought that would involve a lot of interaction with international CMs and I love people from all over. I know that every area in WDW has Cast from all over the globe, but Epcot especially so :) I studied abroad in Europe over the summer too so I'm just like I love foreign cultures and stuff.

I'm really not picky though with the PIs. The CP recruitment one or other CP related ones are great too. I loved my CP and am currently a campus rep so I'm all about being an info resource for CP potentials/participants.

Sorry I know y'all don't care. I am just so ready to find out. It's unbelievable to me that it takes them so long to make decisions.

:confused3 do we know which internships still need to make decisions?

The deadline is really close!

I know! very close! my son just came home from college tonight and we were discussing that same thing! He is STILL in interview stage for engineering! Was told (in response to an email he sent) that he will hear about an interview soon, via email. :confused3

I'm still in interview stage for my CP Alumni PI.

The good news is that we'll all know something - one way or the other 2 weeks from today :)

I know from my last experience when I applied for a CP Alumni PI I did not hear back until after the deadline that it did not recieve one. Are people still being offered positions this late? I know they so no news is good news, but is it really?

Trying to stay positive though!

Totally negative, dude! Wow! There is a deadline to hear back for a reason. If I don't hear anything by 12/7, then I'll throw the towel in and expect a rejection email sometime after that. I was reading through last year's long thread for people waiting to hear for a spring '12 PI and people were hearing back past today's date. I'm remaining positive. It's the only way to go. Hope you're able to change your mindset :flower3:

People were being offered positions up until the office closed on Wed and not all of those were alumni either. There are still lots of positions not filled yet.

Delmar411, do you have any info on Finance/Accounting or Corporate Tax?

I haven't seen anything recently mentioned for those PI's but of course it's only a tiny fraction of people who apply, who even post on those FB boards so who knows where they are in the process.

Okay thanks anyway. Trying my best to wait patiently.

Thanks! That's great to hear! I guess I'm just nervous, I know everyone is anxious to hear back. I'll try to think more positively, you guys are right there is still some time.

I'm a freshman in college and lately I've been looking into the college plan/professional internships as a possible option at some point. I'm assuming that doing a regular CP is highly recommended before applying for a professional internship, correct? I'd most likely be applying for management and possibly other corporate internships (most likely finance/accounting), though I'm not entirely sure of what I'm doing at this point.

My current plan is to apply for the Fall 2013 college plan as I'll be a sophomore by then which is apparently recommended. Later on I'd apply for a professional internship either leading up to my senior year or immediately after I graduate. I'd like to get into the hospitality/tourism industry and obviously Disney is one of the biggest companies in that industry.

I just got offered a Workforce Management Cast Deployment PI and I only went through one interview over the phone! I guess that was all they needed... but I have a friend who went through 3 interviews and a panel interview. I guess it varies depending on PI and past experience!

I'm still waiting too. Slowly losing hope, but I'm still in interview stage and no news is good news. At least we know that sometimes a second interview isn't necessary depending on the PI.

Congrats by the way.

Yeah, I had 1 second interview, which happens to be the PI I'm in IS for. The other 7 I applied to are still stuck in IP. I guess we just got to have faith that they call in the next week and a half.

I know someone on this thread said that when they had applied for a CP Alumni Only PI they didn't hear back until after the deadline that they didn't get it, but maybe this year is different.

I know that none of us have any insight into the methodology of when and why Disney lets people know that they got a PI, but this year they seem to be putting people in NLIC status, even for the Alumni Only PIs on a daily basis.

I have a friend that yesterday got NLIC for his Alumni Only PI. I told him I was still in interview stage and he joked and said "At least you made it through today's cut."

I honestly don't know how they're doing this whole NLIC/offers thing, but I just wanted to post this to encourage people that maybe we all have a chance up until 12/7. We only have a week left of waiting. Good luck to everyone :)

Can anyone help me out? I just want people's feedback on whether or not this is a good plan.

You should probably make your own thread for that question as it is kind of irrelevant to our topic. We also are trying to get a PI, most of us haven't done one before, so we can't analyze what's a good plan or not.

I have no idea if this is a good plan or not but a portion of the MI's that have posted their info have not done a CP. I think a CP is the 'foot in the door' for things like operations, any type of guest service PI but again that depends on how much experience you've gained during your college years in other jobs and internships.

Your best bet for any career path is to get local internships in the field you desire during your college years and work to apply those experiences to the PI/MI that you want to apply for with Disney.

People change a whole lot during college. What you are interested in now, may have nothing to do with what you end up doing after graduation.
