Found another place to charge phone in MK

My son, always searchin for hidden Mickey's Found one on the que for VOTLM . Not much use though, unless the ride is down.

What does "on the que" mean? Or is that supposed to be in the queue?

Omg people. This was a thread on locations to charge your phone.
I understand the right to a discussion and opinions but this thread has not turned into a discussion about places to charge your phone, it had turned into a heated discussion as to whether or not you should.
This board is also a place people go to get information. So, now, someone will stumble across this thread and have to go through 9 pages of arguments to find anything.
Perhaps the OP could edit the 1st post with all the places folks have found and save future readers a headache.

Considering that smart phones have less than stellar battery life, theme parks should come up with some sort of charging station at various areas of the park.

Usually, we go from rope drop until mid day, go to the hotel and back at the park after 5. So that gives me time to charge the phone.

I am not on it all day and I remove the location finder and 3G until I need it (reporting ride times and checking on ride times). Mostly, I use the camera to not have to carry more stuff.

I also use it to find my missing party members. I find that "I'll wait for you RIGHT THERE" never seems to work. LOL!!!

I paid $5 for half an hour of charging = 30% mor battery life at IoA. I needed my phone to keep tabs with the older kids and my best friend who traveled when we did.

In some parts of the english speaking world, they do indeed say "on line" instead of "in line"

Correcting someone's spelling of "queue" seems to be needlessly argumentative in a thread that's already pretty heated.

For the record, if I ever needed to charge my phone in the parks, I would ask the nearest CM, and abide by what they tell me, understanding that it's likely to be inconsistent since there seems to be no set Disney policy.

My mom actually found a solar charger for me online. You can either plug it in and charge it or you can charge it via a light source. It's almost the size of a cell phone, but it holds the charge on it. When I need battery, I just plug in the charging cord to the solar charger and the other end goes in my phone. It takes the battery from the charger and puts it into my phone. Now, I don't have to worry about my phone dying while I'm in the parks unless I'm using it like crazy which doesn't usually happen.

When I used to have a phone that allowed me to swap out batteries, my mom and I found spare batteries on Amazon and we bought those. We also bought battery chargers so we could plug in the batteries and charge them after they were used. They came in handy.

Just some suggestions for people to look into if they don't want to sit around at a restaurant and wait for a charge. I believe both items can be found on Amazon.

1. Next to Aloha Isle on right hand side (if looking at stand) of building.
2. Tomorrowland Terrace has 2 I found. Both near trash cans.
3. In front of Carousel of Progress. Center. Beside tree near fruit cart.

I charge mine often....usually the 100 times my DD5 needs to visit the bathroom.

I guess I didn't realize they are hard to find. Imhave noticed though that not all outlets are live. I just keep trying.

As to WHY people need to charge? Who died and put you in charge of cell phone usage?

There are all sorts of reasons people use their phones.

Sorry, but paying 5 dollars to charge my phone would leave a very bad taste in my mouth.

Think of all the money that gets spent on analysis to improve customer service, to improve guest experience and to get guests to stay in the parks.
Imo giving guests free charging spots and letingt them use a nickels worth of electricty would be a reasonable thing to do. The could put in a few charging ststions in each land area. Better yet, install a charging plug into every chair arm on COP.

Ps I would love to hear Pete vent on this.

But you do realize that nothing is 'free' - they'd just have to jack ticket prices up to compensate for the cost of installation, use, and service.

I've just read the entire thread and I'm surprised that one point hasn't been raised at all (unless I missed it). Within the past few months, Disney has installed free Wi-Fi throughout the parks. Disney not only knows guests are using their smartphones and iPads in the park but they are adapting and providing free Internet access as a result. It only stands to reason that if thousands of guests are taking advantage of this new service, there is going to be a need for people to charge their electronic devices

I also believe the WiFi is going to play into the new Fastpass system somehow. So for the person who wonders why anyone needs their phone in the parks, Disney is actually driving that need themselves.

It is no one's business why I or anyone else uses their phone on their vacation.

We usually charge back at the room, but if I needed to charge while at the parks then I will. If a CM tells me to not do it then I will.

Charging at the parks or charging at the resort are both coming out of WDW's pocket, just a different line on the income statement.

Just because WDW has an outlet every certain amount of feet because of a building code does not mean that they were put there for guest use. That would be quite an assumption, actually. The outlets in the queues, for example - think that they are there for guest use?

I wasn't suggesting that they were specifically put there for guest use. Obviously they weren't. I was just saying that since they are there, guests can and do use them.

Here's a question. Does anyone see a difference between me charging my phone in my hotel room vs. charging it at the hotel food court while I'm having breakfast?

I think that ultimately, we are going to see charging stations come to the parks. Maybe they'll be free. Maybe not. Time will tell, but I think it is only a matter of time until charging stations come to be. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Disney is already working on how and where to put them.

I don't see much difference in the hotel room or the hotel food court, maybe other that I don't think it's ideal to have phones and cords laying around in public areas. I charge mine in the hotel, mostly because ...

1. My room is "my" space
2. I don't want a charger in my pocket all day
3. No one invited me to use the park plugs
4. I don't want to be seen as impolite
5. I don't want to have to set my expensive phone down potentially outside my reach

On the flip side, I don't give it a thought if I see a phone plugged into a stray outlet. (Except for maybe the safety of their phone.) None of my business. I love my park apps and all, but it's no big deal to me if the phone dies because I forgot to charge it. The world is certainly beginning to accommodate this all though. Airports certainly do, in a huge way. I believe someone above mentioned that DL already has paid charging. I probably wouldn't use charging stations even if they had them.

I'm curious about this. At DL, if they have paid charging stations, do they restrict people from just plugging in at open outlets, like in a restaurant?

Wow...so much angst about charging your phone. Is it still bad for phones to be recharged when they aren't fully depleted?? That used to be the case, but since I am not technologically knowledgeable, I just don't know for sure.
I can't imagine sitting around, plugged into a wall at a WDW restaurant, killing time, waiting for my phone to charge.
But, unless someone says something to you about it not being allowed, then go for it.
