Swan & Dolphin Weddings FAQ

Hi Swalphins,

My name is Cassie and I am really glad I finally I decided to click on this thread! My fiance and I are in the beginning stages of planning a June 2014. I always knew I was going to have a DFTW but recently I have been running the numbers and I am not sure if I want to spend that much in addition to dealing with all the rules and restrictions. I have already been emailing Erin from Just Marry to get some more information and she has been very responsive! I'm still in my "research" stage, but I'm looking forward to reading some great planning journals & exploring the possibilities for a S/D Wedding!

I will be going to Disney for the week of Thanksgiving and I wondering if Just Marry does site visits for Swan Weddings, or if its just easier for me to visit the ceremony locations on my own. What do you all think?

Thanks!

Hi Cassie!

The Swan and Just Marry really excel in the area of communication. We actually had two different site visits when we were planning our wedding. The first one was just with my parents and the second one was with my DH and I. Each time, they met with us with no time restrictions and no extra charge. We also had a cake and menu tasting session-again with no time restrictions and no extra charges. In addition to that, we also had a separate meeting with the florist to pick out flowers and a separate meeting with the planner and caterer to just go over last minute stuff, at our request. Our JM planner and swan caterer always got back to us quickly throughout our entire planning experience-through phone, email, in person, etc...

You are in good hands with the Swan and Just Marry!!!:goodvibes

Welcome welcome welcome! You will find us a very tight knit group and very willing to help each other

Thanks so much Ladies!!

I went ahead and emailed Erin from JM about scheduling a site visit while I'm at Disney next month, and she was more than happy to help! She's not if sure she is available to do the site visit, but she will see if someone else is :)

I am a soon to be Swan Bride! Just got our date approved for September 29th 2013 :) I am a little nervous, Erin is going to be our wedding planner and she says in September it rains like clockwork every afternoon. Of course the date is non- negotiable for us, since it's the only date we can actually get all of my brothers and sisters there. I planned for an elevan o'clock wedding to hopefully (knock on wood) not get rained on. My only real concern is having to do the ceremony inside. I mean the whole point of getting married in Disney is getting married outside, right? Were keeping the ceremony very intimate. Parents, brothers, sisters, neices, nephews and of course our daughter. Even with our exclusive list we have at least 25 guests. This is one of the reasons we chose the Swan. A WDW wedding over 20 guests is just too much money! Were also throwing a big reception for our extended family and friends when we get home. Disney themed of course. Love reading these threads and getting ideas. Does anyone have pictures of their wedding at the crescant terrace site? Thats the location we have the hotel holding.

Welcome!! Congrats on getting your date! Being a Swan bride is the BEST. :grouphug:

As far as rain and September, yes-- it rains in September. You will probably be okay at 11am.. most rain comes in the afternoon. Don't sweat it!

I am having my ceremony at Crescent Terrace. There are some pictures on my Planning Journal (link in my signature) on the first page or two. Also, Teresa (Icecoldpenguin) had her ceremony at Crescent Terrace and she has some shots in her Planning Journal as well. Jilian does too. In addition, there are some pictures of Crescent Terrace at the start of this thread (pages back!!).

Let us know if we can help at all; we are a very tight sisterhood!

PS. we're on Facebook if you'd like to join us-- loads of pictures there.

Welcome, Lilu!

Faith - You keep changing your avatar and confusing me! When I'm checking the dis on my phone, I can't see signatures and I'm more visual, so I just look at the picture of whoever is posting - I keep thinking "Who is this person? They're new! Is there a planning journal I haven't read!" :rotfl:

Speaking of - What is Shannon's username? And does she have a planning journal? I saw her pics on facebook and they are gorgeous!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Love seeing all the pictures. You have some great ideas, and congratulations with graduating in December! I have to wait until this May, but I will finally have my bachelors in Communication and Science Disorders :)

:rotfl2: I KNOW! I'm so indecisive!!

Shannon does have a PJ but for the life of me I cannot remember what it is. I know she has posted in this thread and the link to her PJ is in her siggy.

Hello again,
To all the Swan brides who instead of a reception are doing a family lunch/dinner did any of you have the restaurant order a cake? I was just wondering about the prices and to see if they were the same amount that just marry charges or more? Also my wedding planner is Erin, did anyone else have her and what did you think? Thank you!
Happy Halloween:stir:

Ordering a cake through the S/D is pretty pricey-- I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't heard much about ordering a cake through the restaurant. Sorry!

Most of us go with It's Tasty Too.. amazing cakes, sweet lady, and great prices.

I started out talking to Erin, and when I set up a visit, I met with Diana. I was told that it might be Diana handling my wedding and that they don't decide who has what wedding until it gets closer. So at this point I don't know who I am working with for the actual day of. Erin and Diana have both been super nice though!

Hey guys!
I am Talia, long time lurker, and am finally getting to the point where we are making concrete plans with the Swan and Dolphin  We are planning on a late afternoon/ early evening ceremony October 29, 2013 (We may move this to the 26th for a Saturday, but the 29th will be the 2 year anniversary of our engagement) followed by a catered reception in one of the ballrooms. We have just started talking with Lindsey about the reception. I have read mixed reviews on the catering department, so we will see how it goes.
I just wanted to thank you ladies for posting all of the wonderful information you do, it has definitely helped us in our decision to go with Swan and Dolphin. Can't wait to start a pj of my own! :)

Hi Talia!!

Welcome and congratulations! I had a catered reception in one of the Swan reception rooms, coordinated by Lindsay & I cannot say enough wonderful things about her & our event!:goodvibes We had a plated lunch reception for around 55 guests in I think the Pelican room & also a cocktail hour in the Swan Courtyard. Both locations were gorgeous. Food was delicious. I felt that Lindsay went above and beyond for us and was a total sweetheart.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Thank you for the welcome everyone!

Minniebride~ Thank you so much! I will definitely PM you if I have any questions. I've heard mixed reviews on the swan catering department so I am glad to hear from someone that had a great experience! :)

Hi, I'm new here. :wave2: I've read through some of this thread but haven't seen anything on this topic so if I missed it and am repeating, I'm sorry! :confused3

Has anyone planned a dinner at O'hana after their ceremony? If so, were they able to easily accomadate a large-ish group? I wonder if this is even a good place to go for this or is it distracting with all the activity? Or do they have private rooms available? I have no idea...I've been there and don't see where they'd be, but just curious. Thanks for any feedback you can give! :goodvibes
