Why purchase BCV over BWV?

So we're looking at purchasing either BCV or BWV. Why are prices lower at BWV? Is there a reason why folks choose BCV? Thanks for your input.

if you stay at BCV, you can swim at stormalong bay pool (with authentic sand on the bottom) and no one else can hop to stormalong bay pool. so if you stay at BCV, you can hop to BWV's pool but not vice-versa. BCV has slightly higher demand as a resort.

BCV is also more compact (no long hallways) - and BCV's smaller size means less supply. and supply and demand are what drive pricing.

if you are booking for food and wine (for one example) at 11 months out, you can get BCV as an owner but are unlikely to get BCV if you own elsewhere. BWV's size makes it easier to book at 7 months (in general) if you are willing to pay for preferred view villas.

Trivia: That's not authentic sand, it's ground-up granite. (I think I once heard it's from Stone Mountain in Georgia.) It's very cool, though, so why is it unique? I've never heard of it anywhere else, in Disney or elsewhere.

Amenities and resort specifics aside, free market pricing is normally determined by the forces of supply and demand.

BCV has about half as many points as BWV. Even with equal demand, the lower supply of BCV means it will command a higher price.

i thought all sand was ground up rocks...:upsidedow

well, now i'm totally bummed about the man-made sand at BCV...

( :) )

In our case we chose BCV over BWV because we found the perfect contract. BCV seems harder to get into because it's smaller. It's also the closest walk to any park (Epcot).

Stop spreading such evil rumors. If everyone starts believing it is a "mountain" the lines to get in the pool will be two hours long.

Parking at BWV is horrid, especially during F&W Festival times. BCV, you park right next to the villas and can easily transport the stuff from your car to your villa. BWV has one elevator bank for the entire resort. BCV has two elevator banks for the entire resort.

BWV may have better views to some, but BCV is quieter.

I always thought it felt like aquarium sand. ;)

Why purchase BCV or BWV?

Because you have stayed at both and you like one more than the other is the best answer that I can think of.

I agree that the higher price is mainly driven by lower supply at BCV. I'm not sure we'll ever add on, but if we do we would definitely consider an EP resort. I might be willing to pay more for BCV simply because of the parking situation. We have stayed at BC, btw, not BCV; but the parking for BCV is not far from the BCV building. When we stayed at BC (spring break season) i don't think that lot was ever full. We usually use our own car instead of busses, so parking convenience is a consideration for us. Being more quiet is also appealing, although not having much of a view at BCV is a downside. Personally, I did not find SAB impressive enough to buy BCV based on that alone, although my kids might disagree. Does BWV have zero entry? If not, then BCV would appeal to me more if I had young children. The shallow zero entry area with lots of sand is nice for little ones. One other pro for BWV is a community hall. BCV does not have one.

What Bill said. :thumbsup2

Also BCV does have dedicated two bedrooms where BWV is all lock offs. That does make a difference to some people. Also BCV has 25 dedicated two bedroom villas with two queen beds.

I also recommend BCV. There is already too much competition for the standard view and BW view rooms at BWV. ;)

We love BCV for all of the above stated reasons.

I heard from somewhere that the sand they used for SAB is unique in that it doesn't stick to your skin as easily as "regular sand". I didn't test that theory out, but that's what i heard anyways.

BCV is a great resort but BWV is our very favorite. We enjoy the option of reserving a GV at the BW if the need arises. HS is our park of choice and the BW is closer to that particular venue. We just reserved a 2BR 2 Queen at BCV at 7 months which was a tough decision as we usually stay at the BW. Stormalong is amazing pool and we used it when our children were younger but as teenagers they aren't interested. Either resort would be a good choice.

Thanks so much for everyone's input. We love the Epcot resorts, we honeymooned at BC. But couldn't decide which dvc to go for. I think we're going to go for BWV. Now to find the right contract!
