Biggest Loser Fall Challenge!

My favorite thanksgiving food would be my moms real cranberry sauce. It was as much fun to make it with my mother as it was to eat it.

I do miss my mom and wish I had written down her special recepies before she passed. My sis and I still call each other and try to figure out how she made everything so special. She had that touch with everthing she made.

Aww. Makes me realize we should be making more of an effort to share family recipes. My DMIL self-published a cookbook a few years ago, so we have her best recipes easily available.

Morning friends! Back from the gym, breakfast made and eaten and cleaned up. We are heading out later to see Wreck-It Ralph before tonight's practice... And sadly I will be hitting the market during the craziness tonight to grab stuff I couldn't find last night. Market Basket has great prices, but they don't carry a really large selection. Will get the 14 items I couldn't find last night when I hit Shaw's tonight.

I should plan my outfits for the weekend and get them packed up today too. It's casual both days, but I'd like to wear my new boots!

Safe travels to everyone on the road or in the sky today and tomorrow!

Here is another BONUS QOTD:

Do you eat Thanksgiving dinner in the afternoon or evening?

.....................P

Here is another BONUS QOTD for those of you still around:

You have to pick JUST ONE Thanksgiving food favorite! What is it and why? (And NO, not an entire category like DESSERT! :rotfl2:).

Another carb lover who loves the dressing. think you call it stuffing if it's in the bird. Our style is very plain, bread, onions, celery, milk, broth and seasonings. If I had to choose between it and turkey, dressing would win every time. :rotfl:

Aww, it is a tough time of year to miss the ones that you love. You might check with aunts, cousins, etc. sometimes people shared their recipes with others. I have been rescuing the recipe boxes from DH's family because no one else really cares. I also had DMIL go through her Mom's recipes with me. That was a fun way to spend an afternoon. A cookbook is a great idea Pamela.

Afternoon -- then nap time. :teeth:

Killing a few minutes here before we head out. Have to wait for the vet to open or else we would be on the road now. :driving:

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! :flower3:

Sounds like our traditional NE stuffing. My DH grew up with his Mom's French Canadian hamburg stuffing. When I first had it I thought "ewwww!" Who wants a BIRD stuffed with a COW? :rotfl: But it has grown on me, somewhat. I still don't LOVE it and it is easy to skip.

It was something that my MIL always wanted to do. She has been an avid cook and baker her ENTIRE life and has THOUSANDS of recipes. MY SIL and niece helped her and it came out really well. And now, at age 90, I believe she is working on book #2!

Afternoon -- then nap time. :teeth:

Us too! Naptime for the men, playtime for the kids, and craft and chat time for the women!

Happy trails to you!!

I have done NOTHING productive this morning except look at recipes! And now I'm hungry with a headache! :headache:

For tomorrow I am NOT making the pumpkin angelfood cake I had planned. Just found out that my SIL and niece who are both on WW will NOT be there tomorrow and I know from experience that no one else is interested in "light" desserts on T.giving. They just go to waste. So I will be making the "slow cooker pumpkin swirl cake" that I had in mind, as well as some gingerbread cookies (from refridge dough I bought at T. Joe's) for tomorrow and if the cake is successful I will be making it again on Friday (along with green bean casserole and a salad).

Gotta go wake DD from her post-swim practice nap! TTYL..............P

Good afternoon everyone. I took the day off. We only had a half day and part of the time was going to be a pep rally so I called in sick. My car had a thermostat fixed last week and when we went to take dh's car in to fix his emergency brake they saw that my car was overheating. So I need to get a new radiator. Dh's car may not be finished until very late today or Friday so we are just doing things around the house.

I am getting ready to make dough for the pies and later will work on the stuffing.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Favorite Thanksgiving Item: Its a toss up between the stuffing and candied yams

Thanksgiving Meal Timing: We usually eat in the afternoon

Sorry about the car troubles!

Lots of stuffing lovers, I see!

Morning friends! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a wonderful, healthy, fun, memorable day! Safe travels to those on the road!

I never posted my favorite thanksgiving food......a few years ago I would have said onion casserole, hands down. But I seem to have lost my taste for it more recently. My answer now is my aunt's award winning lemon meringue pie! And she really has won awards!

And we eat our big meal in the afternoon both days...a bit closer to 3pm on Thursday and 1pm on Friday.

Time to start the coffee and get this family moving along! We should be on the road by 9 am and nothing is packed! .................P

Survived my 10K turkeytrot today and then went to DH brothers house for an afternoon celebration and then their crazy card games.

In talking with my SIL I think we may have stumbled on a cranberry salad receipe from her family that looks to be the same as my mothers. SIL says what made it so great was the love that our mothers put into it and I have to agree with her.

I also think that my mothers generation, she would have been 80 years old, that they made everything from scratch and we are so used to adding processed stuff together.

Hoping everyones "shopping" day is not crazy.

Happy Black Friday! Hoping everyone is well!

My goal is to get the holiday chat started tomorrow, so get ready!

Back to family time! .............P

Eagerly awaiting the challenge results!!!

I think we might have to wait a bit longer, as Samantha's life was kind of tossed about a bit after Hurricane Sandy. But she's been on so we know she is safe and will get back to us when she can. I suppose we could all do our own math and figure out our percentages and post it here! Maybe I will suggest it to the group if we don't have results by next week.

Happy Sunday friends! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine was wonderful and full of great family time, but it is winding down.

The new holiday chat thread is up and ready! I'd post a link, but I'm on my IPad and not so good with cut and paste. See you there!.......P

I asked Samantha if she can forward the spreadsheet to one of us so we can finalize the results. We haven't had a challenge not have things finalized for many years or we may have to do self reporting.

See you on the holiday thread!
