Hello readers! I’m back with a brand new trip report; however, this one is a bit special…it’s our HONEYMOON! As you can see from my signature, I have done several TR’s already; so I won’t be boring with all the details about who we are.

Just a little background on us..we have been together for 10 years now! Yes, I said 10! We started dating in high school and went away to college together. We just moved into our new house at the end of September and welcomed a four-legged member to our little family when we got a chocolate lab in October!

Everyone on the DIS knows me as Tinkgurl.

My DH! It’s been neat going from calling him DBF, to DF, to DH!

Our wedding was August 11, 2012. We were lucky to even have a DIS member as a part of the wedding! xoktenox and I have become best friends, so it was natural to ask her to be a bridesmaid. Her husband (then fiancé) was one of our ushers. The next day, we did gift opening, then hit the road! We stayed overnight in Chattanooga, TN, so our first real day at WDW was August 13th.

Dates of the trip: August 13th to 19th 2012

Where we stayed: The Polynesian!

~Day 1~

As we started getting closer and closer to WDW, my heart started racing. This trip was planned for so long! I have been going to WDW since I was 3 years old and decided at an early age that WDW was where I was going on my honeymoon. So, whoever married me had no choice in where we went. Luckily, DH likes WDW!

As we went under those beautiful gates, I screamed!

Honeymoon198.jpg

I screamed when we saw our first monorail. I screamed when we saw our first Disney bus. I screamed as we went under the MK gates.

Honeymoon199-1.jpg

I screamed as we pulled into the Poly to check in.

Needless to say, DH was ready to get out of the car, haha!

We made it there in good time, it was only 2:30! The lady checking us in was so excited that it was our honeymoon. Everyone working behind the desk would come up and tell us “Congratulations!” I was also excited to sign my new name for the first time! She had us say “Aloha” to each other and give each other lei’s. I made sure that she saw that we requested a room with a view of the MK. That’s all I wanted. Even though we are DVC members, I had been dying to go back to the Poly and stay again. Luckily, she was able to get us that room! So, after we got our room keys and directions to our room, we went over to the other desk to get our park hoppers printed. But, the printer was down, so we would have to get them somewhere else. Since we were planning on going to the MK, we just decided to stop at Guest Relations there and get them.

We went back over to where a CM had taken our luggage. The CM walked us over to a golf cart and had us get in. It had been awhile since I had done a golf cart ride to a room, so it was fun to do that again. As we headed to our building, I sighed a big sigh of relief. We were finally back at WDW. We were married and on our honeymoon—something I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl. I caught a glimpse of the Castle as we rode to our building, Tahiti, and those butterflies came back to my stomach.

As we pulled up to Tahiti, our driver got out and even helped bring our luggage to the room! He escorted us to room 1030. We were on the ground level and right near the lobby. We opened the door, and I ran to the balcony.
There it was. The Castle. We had the view I was hoping for! I stood there for a minute and took it all in. Right to the right of us was the TTC; across the Seven Seas Lagoon was the Contemporary; and to the left was the GF. We had it all. It was amazing to be back. And it is amazing to look at all of these different places and think of so many different memories from previous trips. I was snapped out of my daze from DH, who had come out to check out the view for himself. I took the time then to take pictures of the room:

Since it looked like it was about to pour, we decided to relax and unpack our suitcases. We left our sliding door open so we could smell the “WDW air” and listen to the Disney boats tooting their horns. It was great to hear that sound again. However, leaving the door open welcomed some little visitors! Little did we know, these guys would become our friends for the week.

Honeymoon206.jpg

After we unpacked and changed, we headed to the Great Ceremonial House. Even though it had been quite a few years since I had stayed at the Poly, I quickly remembered my way around. We decided to check out the gift shop downstairs, then headed up to the bar at O’hana for some drinks. I had a Raspberry Rain, and DH had a Backscratcher that came with an actual backscratcher!

Honeymoon213.jpg

Our view from the bar..you can’t tell, but we could see the Castle!

Where were we headed to next? Stop by to find out on the next update!

I can so easily picture this! I bet he was rolling his eyes at your screaming, but I also bet he was grinning from ear to ear, too, seeing you so happy. You guys had had a long absence from WDW, and some screaming was definitely in order upon arrival. :thumbsup2

When Kristen and Chris move down there, you will have another excuse to visit more often. ::yes::

Thought I missed the start but looked and you just started today!!!:cool1:

Hey girl! Thanks, it's actually a separate tank top and skirt that I put with a cute belt.

You'll have to try the Backscratcher or the Raspberry Rain. Both are good!

Glad to have you!

No Disney?! :crazy2: I guess not everyone is as crazy about Disney as we are. ;)

After we sat and enjoyed our drinks, we decided to ride the monorail one loop around for the heck of it. I was excited to see the new DVC construction at the GF. So out we went..

Honeymoon215.jpg

Our first monorail of the trip was..

Honeymoon216.jpg

The black monorail! As soon as the doors closed we heard that familiar voice, “Please stand clear of the doors…” A phrase that’s known and memorized by so many WDW lovers. It’s a phrase recognized so much with our WDW trips that my sister even mentioned it in her Maid of Honor speech at our reception!

Our first look at the GF construction:

Honeymoon217.jpg

Honeymoon218.jpg

Looks like it’s going to be neat!

One thing I love about riding the monorail around the Seven Seas Lagoon is the view.

Honeymoon219.jpg

When we got back to the Poly, we ran to the room to get our information for the park hoppers. As we walked in the room, we saw this waiting for us:

Honeymoon220.jpg

It was a gift basket with bride and groom Mickey Ears from my parents and Sis.

After we texted them and thanked them for the surprise, we were ready to head to the MK. Since Tahiti was so close to the TTC, we just walked there and hopped on a monorail there. Luckily, Guest Relations was able to print our park hoppers out for us with no problem.

I let out a big sigh as we made it through the turnstiles. We were finally back to my favorite park. I was anxious to see all the changes that had been made to Fantasyland since July 2010.

Honeymoon221.jpg

I was a little worried about missing Toontown, so we rode the train over to the new Fantasyland station.

Honeymoon222.jpg

While we waited for the train to come, I was peeking at the Castle through the window.

Honeymoon223.jpg

Soon, we heard that familiar sound of the train.

Honeymoon224.jpg

We pulled up and my mouth just dropped. It looked so different! I can honestly say I didn’t miss Toontown; although, I will admit it was weird seeing Dumbo moved!

We slowly walked through the new Fantasyland area to the old Fantasyland. It all looked different over there too!

The crane for the new mine rollercoaster:

The sign advertising Storybrook Circus:

It was exciting to see the Beast’s Castle going up and the Little Mermaid ride being built. More construction:

Good-bye, Snow White!

The Castle show was starting, so we had to walk around.

Honeymoon239.jpg

As we walked down Main Street, we stopped and had a PhotoPass picture taken. We walked through the glass blowing shop to see if there was anything I wanted to buy for our new house. I saw a few things I liked, so I decided to keep them in mind and wait. We also window shopped on our way out. I saw this cute shirt about the yummy churros in one of the windows:

Honeymoon240.jpg

We had a dinner reservation at the California Grill, so we decided to head to the Contemporary and get some drinks at the Outer Rim. Before heading on the walkway, we stopped and found our brick and sent a picture back home to my family.

After a short walk, we made it here:

Honeymoon242.jpg

Honeymoon243.jpg

We got a little teary-eyed walking into the lobby. The last time we were at the Contemporary was when we stayed there back in 2010 with Little Guy. Being back there definitely brought back a lot of memories. First order of business- taking our traditional picture in the Mickey Ears!

Honeymoon244.jpg

After we looked around the gift shop, we sat over by the Outer Rim for a little bit so I could catch up on my TR notes. By the time I was done, we could head up to the California Grill. Our reservation was at 9:10, which was perfect for Wishes at 10! As we checked in, we were asked to stand in front of the elevators and wait to be escorted up.

The elevator doors opened up once we reached the restaurant, and I was so excited to finally be there. This was one of those places I had been dreaming about eating on my honeymoon. We were given a pager and headed to the bar. We looked around the place in awe. It still didn’t feel like we were even there! Luckily, we did not have to wait long because our pager went off at the same time that our drinks arrived! We paid the bartender and were taken to our table.
We were seated with a window behind us, unfortunately, it didn’t have a MK view. But, we were happy to be there anyway! Our view was of Epcot, and we could see Illuminations perfectly! Here was our view of the restaurant from the table:

Honeymoon245.jpg

Our waiter was so amazing and kept congratulating us on our honeymoon. He also informed us about when to go out to the observation deck for Wishes. Since we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan, we were ready to eat a lot! For appetizers, I had the Spicy Kazan Roll, which was amazing!! DH had the different cheeses platter. For the main course, both of us had the Filet of Beef, which was also amazing! We were not done with our main course when it was time to go out for Wishes, so our waiter kindly covered our plates to keep them warm. The view outside up there is incredible!

Honeymoon248.jpg

Looking at the GF:

Honeymoon249.jpg

Honeymoon250.jpg

For some reason, my camera was not wanting to take pictures of the fireworks, so I apologize for that!

After the amazing view of Wishes, we headed back inside to finish our meal. For dessert, we both had the different chocolates, which was amazing as well! We were so happy with everything we had. The California Grill did not disappoint!

We were tired from traveling, so we decided to call it a night. We headed back to the Poly and once we got back to the room, we sat out on our balcony and just enjoyed the view. This was something we ended up doing every night of the trip.

Honeymoon252.jpg

We watched the Castle change colors for awhile before heading in. I told the Castle good night and closed the blinds. Falling asleep your first night at WDW is hard to do! My mind was filled with excitement and replaying all the fun we had already on our first day.

Up next: A MK morning and drinking/eating around WS!

This is my first post on the DIS in probably a month and a half but it's only fitting to post on my BFF's TR :-)

The first walk into the MK and seeing the castle is an indescribable feeling!! Pure bliss!

Yummmm, California Grill. So sad we missed eating there but we already know it's on our anniversary trip ADR list!!

That view from your room is absolute perfection. My dream!! :cloud9:

Congratulations!

Awww, I love how you put this as the description for your DH - "My DH! It’s been neat going from calling him DBF, to DF, to DH!" It's exactly what I used for the intro in my Disneymoon TR!

I love the picture you took from the train station looking at the castle. A different perspective of the castle that I haven't seen before.

Lol DH has that churro shirt you took a pic of! It's the only Disney shirt he owns and probably ever will own! :rotfl2:

Don't you just love Cali Grill? And you can't beat that view of Wishes from the observation deck!

Great updates!
