Shipping Water

When I go to WDW, we always ship a case of water to the hotel ahead of time. Is it possible to do that on the cruise ship?

No. While it is possible to ship a box, food and beverage items are specifically prohibited.

If you are driving or using a towncar service to get to the terminal, you can stop at a grocery or walmart and purchase water. It must then be brought on board in your carry on bags.

If you are bringing water because concerned about the quality/taste of water on board the ship you can skip it. The ship makes its own water and it does not taste like typical Florida water.

I just got back from a 7 day Mexico cruise we stopped off at target bought a case of water and while putting luggage tags in our stuff we noticed we had extra tags for check in bags so we taped it on and have it to the luggage guys our case of water was waiting at our room with our luggage no questions asked. This was our fourth cruise but first time doing this but I'm going to do it everytime cuz having the case came in great. Water by the case on board is like 30 bucks I think so we saved our selves 27 bucks I felt like such a smarty pants and savy

Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.

The porters at the terminal are not going to say no to taking your case of water, they don't work for DCL, and they aren't going to put a possible tip in danger by saying no.

Beverages in checked luggage have been know to break/leak. And you're not just damaging your stuff, but others as well.

I think having a case of water is an excellent idea. I know water on the ship is fine. But off the ship, I am nervous about water quality. I'd rather have bottled and not pay port side prices for it.

Why not just bring your personal water bottle and fill up onboard? That's what we do.

Well we had no problem bringing it on board no one said a word also i have read several post on the disboatds that they also had no difficulties the way I see it put a tag on it send it with luggage guys worst case senerio they say no and ur only out 3 bucks for the case

We've done that with soda in the past (on another cruise line), but since DCL's website asks us to carry on our own, we didn't want to push our luck. Since we hauled on four 12-packs this past cruise, I think they would've balked at that.

Worst case scenario - the water bottles get crushed (as is likely, if you've ever seen how the luggage is handled) and you ruin some one elses clothes/stuff. Yes, it does happen, which is why DCL does ask us to bring beverages onboard as carryons. You can be charged whatever necessary to fix any such problems.

Sorry if I came across that way. That wasn't my intent. I'm just trying to be sure that the proper information is put out here so that people aren't surprised if things don't happen they way they were told they would be.

This happened recently regarding the bringing on of personal coolers. DCL has always said "No coolers except for medical reasons". But they pretty much just looked the other way when people brought them on. Recently DCL has started enforcing the policy causing some problems for those people who had read here "Yes, it's not allowed, but we always have".

Again, it's up to the individual to try to check it. And the porters will, most likely, take them (until DCL takes them to task for it).

Like PrincessShmoo sais: there is a reason why this isn't allowed. I understand why the porters agree to take the cases of water, they want the tip! IMHO DCL should enforce this rule! I would hate it if I were responsable for ruin others clothes, and I wouldn't like it if my suitcases were drenched in water just because people didn't want to follow the rules.

I truly understand that it seems to be such an innocent and practical thing to do, but the consequenses can be so big. We carried a few bottles of water with us onboard, and we had plenty left when we disembarked. The water on the ships is fine.
Please think about what can happen before you decide to break the rules.

DCL reads here, a lot. Everytime someone decides that it is K o break the rules and do what they want, to save 27 bucks, or whatever, thy pay attention. Remember when EVERYONE here had to be 1st to arrive at the port, and kept posting as to how to do it? Remember when DCL decided toimplement the port arrival time and, OMG the world ended, enforce that rule. Perhaps one day DCL is going to say NO water or outside beverages will be allowed. The rule is to carry it on. How hard is that?

The Disney luggage barcode was taped to the case if I was such a problem I know for a fact disney would of stopped it from coming on board like they do with irons and so on. I was totally ok with not being able to take it on this way but the fact take Disney took it means maybe water is ok cased like so. I'm thinking water is ok

It use to be acceptable to do this; however, DCL stopped accepting liquids at their warehouse years ago.

One of the porters at PC posted here a couple years ago that they were getting in trouble with DCL for taking the cases of water, basically for reasons sited to prevent damage to other guests' luggage contents. We are lucky that DCL allows us to carry anything to drink on at all, IMO. They state that beverages need to be carried onboard in carry on luggage.

The rules from the website have been quoted and more than one person has given the reasoning behind it being so others' items don't get ruined by broken water bottles. To keep insisting that you think it's "okay" just because you were able to "get away with it" once simply implies that you don't care about the rules or anyone else's belongings.
