Anyone else excited by the Galveston Itinerary changes?

The new itinerary doesn't excite me. I have zero desire to book this cruise. Also, Disney handled these changes very poorly.

As a Texan I love the idea of heading to CC and WDW without the extra cost of flying. Now if only they would sail from Texas when those of us with kids in school can actually travel!!!!

We are booked on one of the cruises in Feb. that have changed. We booked because we wanted to go to Grand Caymen specifically. Have done Disney cruising before and love the quality, so were happy to find an itinerary that didn't have the Disney stops. We often do Disney holidays, so didn't want that for our cruise. We absolutely loved our Disney Mediterranean cruise for that reason.
We are stuck now, as our cancellation insurance won't cover our already booked air fare. Because the dates are the same and the departure/return ports are the same, it only constitutes a change of itinerary. Therefore, insurance says no refund! This is not just a minor itinerary change. The new itinerary is not one I would have chosen.

Being a Texan and a teacher, I love this change! I don't really care about the itinerary but I love the fact that they are offering shorter cruises. I can't take a full week off during the year and when I can go (holiday cruises) the prices are crazy. I would love to take a few days and go on a 4 night cruise.

:thumbsup2 Us too!

The thing is, to us Texans, the western itinerary is WAY over done (and done for WAY cheaper by other lines). Every cruise I've taken out of Galveston has been filled with Texans (greater than 80% of the people, I'd say). When Texans heard that DCL was coming, they were excited, but then, the SAME OLD ports were announced that every other line does out of Galveston. People started to realize that they can get to those ports on another line for about half the price. I'm willing to bet that when these changes are announced, the cruises to WDW/Castaway Cay will sell.

The Texas market will be over the moon about the new itineraries. It is too bad that DCL didn't make this change earlier, avoiding upsetting those who had already booked. --Katie

Ditto to this! We're ecstatic over the new itinerary. Florida is too expensive to fly to for a family of 4 or more and way too far to drive to. This is perfect for us Texans that have been waiting for Disney to sail out of Galveston. This new itinerary isn't the same old, same old to us. Sure, CC and PC aren't exciting to those used to sailing out of Fla, but for all of us it's totally new. And the 4 nighters sure are appealing too! We cruise next month out of Galveston on the Magic. If it weren't that I'd break my kids' hearts, I'd change to the new itinerary in a heartbeat. Guess that means we'll be booking another cruise while onboard :cool1:

That is exactly what I said! We were very excited about visiting the Caribbean. Now we are pretty much cruising off the coast of Florida, except for the day when we fight with thousands of spring breakers at WDW. Yea.

No, I am actually very angry. I booked a cruise I really wanted to go on and was excited for and now it is not an option. If I wanted to go to CC and WDW I would have gone to Florida or booked one of the NY cruises.

AMEN! The best cruises are all during the school year! *sigh*

I'm excited too. I'm very anxiously awaiting them to release the 4 nights in December 2013 as I think we'll be on one of those if they are not too outrageous on opening day (as I understand that it is this week!). :cool1:

Well, I guess I won't be on the Dec. 27th cruise. Disney has priced me out of that one. Especially for a 4 night cruise. I think we'll just head to WDW instead. I hate that even though the ship is in our backyard, I can't seem to find anything that will work for me. I have one of the 4 night cruises in April booked but I have to get an approved three days off which is going to be difficult.

Us too. It's almost as much as what we are paying for the actual 7 night Christmas sailing on the Fantasy this year. Too bad. I thought it would be a fun quick getaway. I could fly to Disneyland for the same price :(

I was shocked by those prices. Those prices are similar to what we are paying for our 14 night EBTA on the Magic in May. Hmm... let's see, 4 nights or 14 nights? LOL, no contest. :lmao:

We love the new itineraries! We have never been to WDW. It is too far for us to drive and cannot afford to fly. We rescheduled our October 2013 out of PC to the February 2013 out of Galveston because of the changes.
