has anyone ever had the blackened fish fillet with the grit cake and stewed green tomatoes or the voodoo chicken dish? what are your thoughts? i am just wondering if there is more than one option for me there! thanks :)

I would like to know as well we have ressies there next week

We stayed in POFQ last year and went to Boatwright's because everyone was too tired to take the journey to Whispering Canyon. We all loved the food, especially me! I had the Blackened Fish w/grits & stewed green tomatoes. I almost didn't have the dish quite that way because I was hesitant of the grits/tomatoes part. I asked the server to swap it out for mashed potatoes & he practically begged me to leave it alone & try it "as the chef intended". Awesome advice!! That meal was my favorite of the whole trip & that's not an easy feat as we had some amazing meals at: Boma, LeCellier, Mamma Melrose, 'Ohanas, Teppan Edo, Le Chefs de France, Turf Club and Liberty Tree Tavern.

Boatwright's will be our first night's ADR when we return in 2014. Enjoy!! :thumbsup2

oh yay, that makes me happy! i didn't like the sound of the grit cake and stewed green tomatoes either. i've never had grits in my life and not that i'm not open to trying new things, but stewed green tomatoes sounds just awful LOL. now that you've said that i'm definitely going to go for it!! :)

It was my first time trying grits & stewed green tomatoes too, but it won't be my last!! ::yes::

Two weeks ago.....I had the Voodoo Chicken w greens. The chicken was nicely moist and not very spicy. I'd say more like a red paprika sauce vs a hot sauce. The collards greens were nasty ( and I am a big fan). The smoke taste was a bit over powering and they were greasy and left a greasy mouth feel. The rice was light and red beans were, just that, red beans.

My hubby had a prime rib with I believe he swapped the potatoes for mashed and his was spot on.

Have a nice dinner:goodvibes

We love everything at Boatwrights and it is our must go to restaurant every trip if we are staying at PO or not.

Just have to add my husband and I ate there this past Saturday night. We both had the pork chop and it was delicious. Very moist and tasty. We both said we will have to go back the next time we are at Disney. :thumbsup2

I liked the fish dish and I am not much of a fish eater. I stayed there for a week with my son but we had very few evening meals as we went there for breakfast every day. My favorite meal there was breakfast. The french toast there is the best I have ever had.

Is the voodoo chicken just a grilled chicken with the seasoning or is it a breast or leg with bone? Just trying to decide with a picky eater where to go .. Thanks
