we are staying at the poly for a quick stay in March and I have since read that there will be refurbs being done at that time, will this affect our trip? I am considering switching because of the refurbs...Poly isn't cheap and I want to get the full experience there and don't want the refurbs to affect our stay...I have read that the volcano pool may be closed :(

There has been no announcement regarding the pool. The only planned refurb is a room rehab, and they would do it a building at a time, and not have guests in the building being refurbed. If you have a GV room, I would not let that go, as there are very slim pickings in booking those because of the refurb.

I am surprised to hear that because I keep looking at other resort options for our dates and there is always gv rooms available (in case I want to add another night).

I should have clarified that its slim pickings with discounts. I have to believe its because of the rooms being taken out of inventory because it correlates with the "schedule"

We are there March 3-6, with a discount, should I assume then that refurb will be done by then?

I think that we cannot assume anything. The official word of rehab has not even come down yet. But according to what is out there, there will be alot of longhouses closed at the same time.

ETA: Early March does not appear to be in that large block of dates though, so you should probably be fine.

No, there will not be "a lot" of longhouses" at the same time. They will refurb them individually and close 1 compete building at a time. Guests will not be inconvenienced at all by that. There are no plans for refurb of the volcano pool in the immediate future, maybe a year out but no final decisions.

Just to be clear, I did already state that the PP would likely not be inconvenienced by the rehab, but she was considering giving up her ressie, and based on the only available information (which we don't know is accurate or not) there is a lot of overlap when multiple longhouses could be closed at the same time. I didn't want her giving up her ressie because of uncertainty and then wanting it later and it not being available...this has already happened to me.

How much of a refurbishment is it? Seems like that had major one about 6 years ago.
They gutted everything out and started new -one building at a time.

It is reported to be a room refurb, but furniture, soft goods, everything. It is reported that even the plumbing will be redone and all rooms will now have double sinks...it's a pretty major room rehaul.

If you search long enough, you can actually find pics of how it will look (from the "test" rooms), I like it! :thumbsup2

Would love to see those photos! Where should I look?
