Viva Planty! He seems like an excellent choice to defend a home. After all, he does have "dragon" as part of his species name. :rotfl2:

Late to the party but I'm in. Can't wait to hear all about the wedding planning. Will Planty be the flower girl? :)

Yes, one of the Mickey's Mini Garden ones from the store outside Soarin' and Living with the Land.

The morning before our plane left for Disney was a fairly typical process of packing for Wingnut and I. He took a handful of clothes from his drawer, put it in his suitcase, and declared his packing “done”. I had procrastinated in the days before that, so I wandered back and forth from the bedroom to the closet to the living room, alternating between crossing items off of my list and adding items to a shopping list that I had just discovered I needed.

Hey, we all have our methods.

Around mid-day, we (ok, fine, I) said goodbye to Planty, and headed out the door. As with our last trip, we were going to be spending the night at Wingnut’s parents’ house, and they would take us to the airport in the morning, since it is a close drive from them.

On the way there, we stopped for our first food of the trip: Chili’s!

Wingnut: You are not taking food pictures yet. The trip hasn’t started yet. We haven’t even left our state.

Me: Oh yes, the trip has most certainly started. We’ve left home…let the pictures begin! :yay:

I’m pretty sure it’s against the rules of civilization to not order the Avocado Eggrolls while at Chili’s. Yes, I know the queso is really good too, but oh how I love the eggrolls.

For our entrees, we ordered a new special, the Chipotle Chicken Fajitas.

These were really good, chipotle-y and cheesy. Not too spicy, which is good since I am a spicy food wimp.

After our lunch, we headed to Wingnut’s parents house. The storm clouds from the hurricane were already starting to roll in.

We got to their house a bit early, and they weren’t home yet. Wingnut wandered into their kitchen, and suddenly exclaimed: “YES! They have bananas!”

(No, Wingnut doesn’t particularly like bananas or have bizarrely low levels of potassium, I’m going somewhere with this.)

We had seen online how someone figured out that if you lightly write words with a toothpick on a banana, they will magically appear and you can write little loving notes or totally freak people out. We had been waiting for his parents to have bananas in the house since we saw this (they always have a basket of fruit in the kitchen), so we could give it a try.

I raced into the kitchen, and found Wingnut excitedly trying to find a toothpick.

Wingnut: What should I write?
Me: I don’t know. Hello?
Wingnut: That’s boring.

I think he was going for a slightly spooky Halloween thing, but all I hear is Roz’s voice: “I’m watching, Wazowski, always watching…”

The bananas were a bit ripe, so the words appeared almost instantly. We did a little maniacal laughing, rearranged the bananas in the fruit basket, and wondered what the reaction would be.

A few hours passed, and then Wingnut’s dad approached the fruit. His reaction was a bit underwhelming, more of an “oh, okay.” We all laughed about it, mainly about how long Wingnut and I had been waiting to try out this trick.

Dinner (pork) and a movie (Les Diaboliques) later, we went to bed, excited and ready to head to Disney the next day!!

Mmmm, that food from Chili's look delicious...and I for one am so glad you started this trip off right, with food porn right away! :thumbsup2

I love the bananas!!! You two are so fun!!! :rotfl2:

What was Wingnut thinking? Of course, the trip has started....it starts the minute you step out the door! I had heard of the writing on banana trick but have never tried it. Too bad his Dad didn't have more of a :scared1: reaction.

Oh yes, the food pictures begin the minute the trip starts! :rotfl: And Chili's has such yummy food, it's hard not to photograph it. ::yes::

I had no idea about the toothpick and the banana. I'm going to have to try that!

Agreed - vacation starts the minute you leave your home property!

Also agreed - one must order those egg rolls at Chili's!

Funny banana trick - I've not heard of that before.

Let's go to Disney!!!:yay:

Silly Wingnut! Of course the vacation already started!

Actually I go by the rule that vacation starts the second I walk out the door from work! He wouldn't be too happy with me! I'm the one who would be taking a picture of my car before I get in it with a caption of First 'ride' of vacation! :rotfl:

LMAO! That message on the bananas cracked me up. I really need to try that.

And I hear you on the egg rolls at Chili's. They are AMAZING.

It seems that you and I have very similar packing methods! Although in addition to the pacing and list making, I also find 73 other things that I MUST DO.

AVOCADO EGGROLLS? Those sound phenomenal.

HAHAH, banana messages. Who knew? I must try that.

Yeah! You Started! I am definitely along for the read.

This is so me.

HI there :) I've been a lurker on your other TR's. Just wanted to let you know I'm here :wave2: Planning a Disney Wedding seems like fun. That banana trick is really cool. -Amanda

Hahaha the bananas!! I'll have to do that next time my mom has bananas. It could freak her out pretty good I think.

I so want to try your nana writing feat! I think I'll write OUCH! It's amazing what you learn here! ;)

I agree with everyone else, it's not too soon to start snapping photos of your food when you are enroute to your destination. Yummy southwest egg rolls and chipotle fajitas. Yummmm..... I took photos of my food in Vegas but then realized I was at a client dinner. Oops! :lmao:

Looking forward to reading all about your hilarious adventures because I know there are more waiting for us! :goodvibes

I'm in the queso camp. No one else in my family would eat the egg rolls with me. :confused3

Love the banana (am I the only one who hears Gwen Stefani when I write/type banana?) trick! Maddie and I will have to try that! Too bad Mr. Wingnut was underwhelmed, still fun though!

Oh wow, I'm an early riser, but not THAT early!!!

Hahaha did you bring the drink in while walking and wearing your 3D glasses? :rotfl:

::yes:: I did walk and wear...

and then I took the 3D glasses home with me. :cool2:

Sittin' in the middle, slurpin' a drink, walkin' and wearin', and swipin' the rockin' awesome glasses. Yeah, I am that bad! (Is there a tough-looking smiley wearing a black and white jail suit?)

Oooh, that banana/toothpick thing sounds like fun! I don't think bananas stick around long enough in our house for the message to show up, but I think I'll try it anyway.

I've only been to Chilli's once (I know, I know!) and I was kinda disappointed, but put avocado in anything and I'll eat it!
