Joe Rhode in AK 11/7

Don't know what this means in the grand scheme of the future of AK but I thought I'd pass this encounter from this past Wednesday 11/7. My DW, SIL & myself were sitting at the back area of the Dawa Bar, back where the cannon is located by the fortress wall. We were having our traditional popcorn & beer and lo & behold out of nowhere comes Joe Rhode and an entourage of imagineers, and a woman who looked like Meg Crofton. I do have have pics that I'll try and post. They were 10 feet from us and we overhreard some of the conversation. Joe was saying that he wanted to open up the area, to take down the wall around the Dawa Bar. And some more that we couldn't make out. Later on my DW & Sil again bumped into them in the Asia area. Like I said, don't know the significance but wanted to pass it on.

Yay! They are talking of moving Festival of the Lion King to Africa, so that makes sense. Please post the pictures.

Having some tech issues right now, finally a few minutes ago I got them on to my pc, hopefully by tomorow I should be able to get them out.

Joe Rhode ...LoL! Bound to groundbreakingly imaginative decisions here.

It's Joe Rohde (not Joe Rhode).

I'm mentioning this in case anyone following this thread wants to google him, not to be picky.

They've had two pretty good additions to parks open in the US within the last six months....which hasn't been pulled off since probably since 1994...

He's obviously there to throttle up the spending and throttle back on productivity...
...so the pesky consumer doesn't get "comfortable" with the idea that TWDC company will create good additions frequently - as they had for the first 40-45 years of their park operations...

I'm not a fan of his...can you tell?:woohoo:

So we're simpatico again! He's a schmoozer and a survivor but an imagineer? Not a real one!

Sounds good to me. My wife and I met Joe one night at the Adventurers Club. He hung out with us, told stories of building AK, and we all went through the various rooms together. He drew a little sketch of a yeti screaming down Mt Everest and signed it with a little note for our kids since I told him they were big roller coaster fans and couldn't wait for Everest to open. He seemed like a great guy to me. I don't know anything about his work M. O.

Professional schmoozer.
