O.k. you've got me now:) You helped me out the other day and now I see this post and it helped me again :goodvibes I didn't want to give up the garden view but at the same time we are also renting a car and I didn't want to be too far away from the parking lot:upsidedow You mentioned proximity to the elevators, which floor were you on? We usually request ground level but DH was wondering if we should get an upper floor due to the noise factor. Anyhow, sorry for rambling  I guess I'm just getting so excited and I don't really have anyone to talk to since DH doesn't really get into the planning portion :(

We were on the 3rd floor right next to the elevators and stairwell. We did not hear any noise from the elevators or anyone walking by. It was a very convenient location. The pic under my username is my daughter looking over the garden and fountain at Parterre from the stairwell between the 2nd and 1st floor right downstairs from our room.

Looking to try a Royal Guest Room...is there any special requests or anything I should ask for?

Also, are the boats to DtD pretty efficient? We will have a rental car, but was thinking of trying this as the boat ride just sounds so nice- sometimes we just enjoy riding around property. And did I read that the boat dock for POR is near Rainforest cafe?

We visit frequently to Disney but are new to the POR resort. Thanks in advance for any and help and advice!

I don't know about the requests about the room because we don't know of your room category like standard, garden, water and river views.

Yeah the boats come at regular intervals and frequent POR, POFQ and Rainforest Cafe docks. But from the rainforest docks you can take lagoon boats to other locations in DTD.

Yes; the water taxis run from 11 am to 4 pm every 20 minutes and every 10 minutes after 4 pm until 11 pm.

The boat dock is the Marketplace stop, which is right near RFC. It stops at POFQ both on the way to POR and back to DTD, so they won't always fill up the water taxi at POR. They will fill it at DTD, so you are never waiting very long. Especially after 4 pm. I think POFQ is absolutely beautiful at night.

I always like to end my day at a resort for dinner, take the DTD bus back from the resort to the hub. You can see the roof of the RFC from the bus hub, so you cannot get lost coming back; unless you want to get "lost" in the shops. I cannot resist going in the Christmas shop.

Also head over to Ghiradelli's for dessert.

felt so prepared MONTHS ago now that the trip is less than a month away I dont know where to start. we've paid for preferred room. so what/where can I request/send my fax in for our family of 5 (three little ones w/us). we'll probalby have a rental double stroller and would think being closest to a bus stop would be best. any other thoughts or suggestions for me? This is our first time staying at POR! Not sure if hope to be in a quite not super high traffic area. suggestions? As always, thanks for your help!

I'll PM you and we can see what we can do.

Is steak one of the items available for the POR CS make your own salad?

Yes, steak and chicken are both available for the Make-Your-Own-Salads. See www.portorleans.org/riversidemill.php for menu info.

The food court opens at 7, but the bakery opens at 6. They have cappuccino, espresso, cinnamon rolls, bagels, etc.

Plus the Grab and Go area, and hot/cold drinks of course, those are all available from 6am too. It's just the hot food sections which don't start until 7am. Oh, and the bakery may well have some pre-made Yogurt Parfaits hidden away in the fridge - but shhh, don't tell everyone. ;)

Since the boats don't start running until 11, what is the best way to make it to DTD by 10 am?

The boat service starts at 10am now, but that still won't get you there by 10am of course.

Is there a direct bus to DtD or do we have to take a bus to the parks first?

Yes, there are direct buses from the resorts to DTD (you can't get directly from the parks to DTD though). Although it is quite close to POR, still allow a fair bit of time as the journey can be longer than the boat trip (the bus often stops at Typhoon Lagoon too).

we are a party of 5 and have stayed at POR in the past. this trip everyone is over age 18. Can we still book POR?
DH wants to spend his evenings at the port with Yeehaw Bob and Elliot at FQ. It would sure make getting back to the room at night easier if we could stay at PO and not have to travel to another hotel after an evening of music.

Anyone know?

Unless someone is very petite, you most likely won't fit comfortably in an Alligator Bayou room that fits 5. Actually, it's doubtful that they will let you book the room based on the ages of those in the room. The extra Murphy bed is recommended for ages 11 and under due to the height and weight capacity. Your only option for POR would be to book 2 rooms.

We did 4 adults in the mansions a few years ago, but we were lucky because we were all very organized. You can technically book 5 in AB, but there is not nearly the storage area for 5 adults.

I would suggest two rooms.

Yes I agree with this it is almost 5 ft long fold out bed to work with.

Just checked out today. Currently at the airport. We had a fantastic time. We didn't make a room request and loved our room. Magnolia Terrace room 8778. It had two windows and the location couldn't have been better. I will post more later in the week

I'm thinking of booking a Royal Room, Standard View. I'll be a solo adult (DH may join me for the last night). Any requests I should make?
