To Online Check in or Not to Online Check in.....That is the question....

Hi Dis-ers! Tomorrow is my "10 day out" date and I can do online check in if I choose to. I made my preferences known when I made my reservations. My question is, if I take advantage of online check in, will those requests remain known or will no one ever see them? I'd love to have a room close to the lobby at the Yacht Club, but am worried if we do online check in, my chances of receiving my request will go down. I don't know if it matters or not, but our flight lands around 2pm. TIA!!!

Doing online check-in has no bearing on whether or not your requests are honored.

Agree! Do the online check in... Definitely saves you time when you get there. I have done it numerous times and all my requests prior to check in have been met in the past with the expection of one time, to which I kindly asked to be moved to a different location when we checked in with no problems.

I would do it as it does save a lot of time at check in. They already have everything ready for you.

It also has no bearing on whether you might be luckly enough to get an upgrade. We reserved a standard room for when we were there this past weekend. Even though I know the Beach Club was fully booked, we were upgraded at check in to a great water view room on the third floor.

I just finished completeing online check for our arrival on Sat. I find it to be so much easier to arrive and have the folder all ready. Last time we did it all our requests were met.

Good luck, hope you get your requests. We've only used on line check in once, for last Aug AKL trip, and I did have my requests met, even though resort was at 100% capacity. I was a little surprised at the 100 % capacity as it was late Aug value season.

So when you do online check-in you're only giving them like your credit card info and such but you won't actually be assigned a room til the day of? Or whenever the room assigner does there thing..?

Correct, they don't assign a room at the moment you do online check-in. It will be assigned when the room assigner does their job.

I arrive on the 24th on the Sat. after Thanksgiving at 9am :woohoo:. Has anybody ever checked in that early? If so, do you think I would need to do online check in so I can save time or is not that necessary for that early in the morning. BTW, I am staying at AOA.

Thanks.

Please know, there are no longer human room assigners at any WDW resort. Rooms are assigned by computer. A human can re-assign your room, however, if you are unhappy with your assignment and there is availability.

I arrive the same day almost every year at POR, but around 11 am. However, I always state that I will wait for my room and I always seem to get what I requested if I wait. I don't think I have ever waited later than 1:30 pm for a room.

That is an extremely busy check-out day, so the staff is fairly overwhelmed that early in the morning. Plus being a new resort, they will be most likely be filled close or at capacity.

You can take your chances and stay with the room that the CM gives you, but it may not be what you requested.

We usually check in between 6:30 and 7:00 am. We've never done online check in, as early as we arrive it isn't needed.

You don't know. At 9:00, there could be lines of people confused with the check OUT procedure. I've encountered that many times. Or, there could be a Magical Express bus that just emptied out. Normally I would say you are fine but (1) it's a Saturday (2) it's a holiday and (3) it's a brand new resort.

Besides, online check in is free and if you get there and don't need it, oh well, no harm, no foul. Plus, you can let the system know you will be there at 9:00 AM so the computer just might see that and assign you a room that will already be cleared out.

To all the PPs who answered my question.....thanks:). Now I have another question. I tried to do online check in, but the only room request I could make was to request a pack-n-play. If I do the online check in can I still request a bldg location when I arrive, or do I have to get in the regular check in line. I hope I explained this correctly.

Thanks again.

Room request must be attached to your reservation; you cannot make them online. You need to call the reservation line. If you wait until you check-in, it might not be available - those rooms may have already been assigned.

I did online check-in every time it was available except for the first time I stayed CL. The past CL stay I did online check-in. Everything was fine both ways--with or without online check-in. Online check-in was a bit quicker for us when we got to the resort. But, I always have requests noted with CRO and/or IPO and confirm a few times before I arrive. Luckily, the requests were granted and there were no issues.:goodvibes
