Next corral question which may have already been covered. My husband and I are running the race together but not as a team. Partly because we signed up at different times and my husband is running for a charity.

We both put 3 hrs on our expected time to finish. What the chance we will have the same corral?

If we don't can they put us together?

If you do end up in different corrals, the person in the better corral has the option of moving back to a later corral, I believe.

if you put the same finish time hopefully you will be in the same corral. You can still run together if you are not though...you can't get your corrals changed, but the person with the better corral is allowed to move back to a later corral if they choose. The person in the slower corral, however will not be allowed to move forward. My BF and I have done this twice with no problems...they usually stop him for a sec to make sure he knows he's walking into a slower corral than he was assigned, but he acknowledges and is allowed to pass.

 I am so sorry. I hope your doc can get you on track for the phm... but at least if you have to walk it you can still have fun doing so!!!

Until I went to try on shoes this last weekend, I did not realize just how traumatized by the whole shoe shopping thing I was. I think the stocking up idea isn't such a bad one ;)

Aside from not knowing if I will actually do the phm - I did not sign up for the retreat because I worried that for those bringing up the rear it would not be worth it. I didn't really realize that there was a prerace benefit. With that in mind, I would think that alone could be worth it...even if there is nothing left and the retreat is closed by the time one finishes the race.

Having only done the one disney race, I didn't realize they were all at WWOS. It seems like staying at CSR would be an added benefit!

Coronado Springs Resort

My dh has agreed to go with me if I work out the details. So I am a mad fool researching all my options. One of his demands was minimal if no park days. So I was trying to look at when and where everything was to get an idea of how to fill our days should we go.

As for places to stay... BCV is in the running. Just have to see if I can rent points for it. If that doesn't work, CSR would be high in my list of choices.

Oh my double digits?! Very cool... It means I have to get this figured out ASAP!

CSR would be new for us too and so it was on my list. I also really like PM's buffet so this pushed it up in my list. Having the expo there pushes it up farther.

I think staying at CSR and then picking up the bib there would be VERY convenient!

That code should be in your confirmation email. It seemed to me the pricing was really good for just the 2 day, but the more days you add the more closely priced to gate it is.

Looks like a lot of fun! My ds's gf is trying to get me to do one. The two of them did a dirty dash last summer and had a blast. Thing is... I figure I have a hard enough time not hurting/killing myself when I just plain run. I am all but certain I would not come away from a dirty dash unscathed.

WTG!!!:cool1: Don't you love seeing the improvement in yourself? I know when I first started, I never could have imagined running like I do now. Little by little it gets easier and we get better. It is AWESOME!!!!

I was wondering too... especially since I would need to figure out if dh and I need a park ticket to watch the race.

Parking lot would mean no ticket needed... WS would mean a ticket needed. I hope it is parking lot! :goodvibes

I too was seriously considering POFQ. Not sure why it comes up as more than the other mods (maybe it isn't included in the room only discount?) However with CSR having the expo that does certainly push it ahead in my choices.

CSR has the conference center though, right? Not sure how big that is...but obviously it must be large enough to hold how many thousands of people?

My dd did the kids race from the ToT 10 miler weekend. They had each group start at different times. I think the greatest challenge with having kids in multiple groups would not be to miss watching them but when they are each in their corrals. I know that our group had another girl in the younger corral and so she and her aunt had to wait there rather than with us.

That is a very nice present from your DH :cool1: Someday it is a goal of mine to stay CL... but when it adds $100 a night (which if I did my math right on BC is what it would add) It just hasn't seemed worth it. Someday though!!!

First, :cool1: for your first time staying on property!!! I have stayed off property and even am slightly considering it for feb... but I really prefer staying on property. I don't have to be immersed in "Disney" per say (like you would get staying at AoA... but each resort is themed so nicely and has food choices I like...and while many may disagree or feel differently, I like the disney transportation. Well... I like not having to transport myself.

As for food... There are several at CSR and I am sure you can get something for prerace. Even though I did not stay at CSR during the ToT 10 miler weekend... I did go there to have my pre race lunch. (again, I do like Pepper Markets buffet and on the dp it is a great use of ONLY a cs credit) I don't want to get slammed here...so I say this with some trepidation. I can honestly say I have RARELY if EVER been one to sneak out a morsel of food from a buffet...but I had a bagel on my plate at the buffet...and :rolleyes1 It happened to end up in my bag. I had brought my own pb from home (I love planters energy mix pb - the cinnamon raison kind is my favorite..the berry mix ok..and the banana is kinda icky) This bagel is what I then used to put my pb on pre race. They did have food carts though in the parking lot outside the corrals..but I am not sure what they served.

About the convention center at csr yes, it is big. I just mean for CSR as a whole to handle 19,000+ runners and their spectators for the expo is gonna be tight, imho. I can't really picture how they will handle the parking.

I've done two disney races now, ToT'12 and Princess 2012. The Princess was way bigger than the ToT expo-wise. They had the bib/packet pickup in a giant tent down back by the tennis courts, and the expo was up in the Jostens center. It was well set up. Since the ToT was half as many participants (i assume) they put the packet pick up and expo together at jostens. There was not enough space at all! The lines for some letters/numbers went back into the booths and was really tight.

I was thinking this probably had something to do with a conflicting event at WWOS like the braves spring training. Although the Princess is basically the same weekend every year...Weird! I'm interested to see how it all works out! I'm glad we're not staying at CSR this time though. Love the resort so much, but would prefer not to contend with alllll the runners and vendors at my home resort for 3 days.

Oh wow!! Dirty Girl looks nothing to what I was expecting, awesome! I was scared to be slipping all over the place. Your photos are adorable. I love the ones of you guys climbing up the ropes. You've got me more excited about it now! :) Thanks so much for sharing those!

Thanks!! It really is a "fun run" and not something to be afraid of. Mud runs and obstacle courses are kind of my thing and this is definitely a good one to start off with. The Merrill Down & Dirty series is a little more competitive (and co-ed) but definitely another that most people will be able to manage without extreme training and then of course, for the more extreme there's the Spartan Races and Tough Mudder. Also, at all of these events from the most friendly to the more competitive, people will help others. That's one of the most awesome things about mudders, just when you think you're slipping, 3 strangers are holding out their hand to you.

And hmm, that makes me a little hesitant about hot chocolate now... I hate disorganized running events, and plus I'm planning a run to send into Disney just the week before it that is local AND I get Zoo admission after! :) so I guess I don't *need* to do it! It just looked like it could be fun. Oh well, thanks for that bit of information too! You saved me 65 or however much it was plus gas and hotel stay :)

Definitely go with the zoo run!! If you go to the HC FB page, you'll see so many complaints.

at the 2011 Princess, the packet pick up was at the same place it was for ToT a couple of months ago...and I thought the same thing you did...why on earth did they set it up that way? I was impossible to shop any of the booths at that end of the aisles because of all the people that were in line picking up their bibs. Good to know they changed that for this year's race, but now that next year's race is moved to CSR I'm worried it's gonna be bad again! I've never been to CSR...the resort or any of the convention areas so I have no idea how it's set up or how large it is...just hoping it's not a nightmare! I did say to my BF that the resort is definitely going to be super crowded friday and saturday with all the runners coming and going and that we should probably be prepared to just take taxis if we go to the parks or anywhere else...I figure the regular Disney transportation will probably be a little slower than normal with the extra traffic. I'm still excited to stay there though...I like the thought of being able to walk over to the expo after I check in Friday! I didn't think about parking...hmmmm wonder what they will do for that? Maybe have all who are driving their own car park at another designated place (like a parking lot for one of the parks) and then bus them to the expo from there? Glad I'm not driving...

And guys!! It's official! I booked my flights and hotel last night! I'm staying at CSR too - glad I am since they switched the expo. I was originally going to book through Disneyworld. I may be kicking myself later (in case something goes horribly wrong), but I saved myself over 500 dollars by booking through expedia! The price was a steal.. SO. EXCITED! :jumping1:

Based on your mention of a good deal on Expedia, I checked their rates for CSR just now and was able to save $300 over my RunDisney booking, and with a better room category. That'll buy a lot of Dole Whips! Thanks!

Erin

Got airfare nailed down. I went ahead and used 32,500 miles instead of holding out hope I'd find something for 25,000 miles. At least it's a direct flight both ways. So this is getting real. Now to just get faster. I have the distance, no prob. Just need to shave a little off time so I don't have to even see any sweeper bikes, can take a potty break and get back to the retreat in time for breakfast, my mimosa, and flip flops. Why am I so excited about Princess flip flops? Lol

Have you looked at the general public discounts for WDW resorts? I booked with 30% off at CBR.

ETA:I just checked Expedia, it is $3 less then the discount I got booking direct.

I went to a sports med/PT place today for a screening and he said I'm not the worst he's seen but would definitely benefit from some PT. He says I need at least 2 weeks of PT before I should even think about running again but if I progress as he suspects, by 4 weeks I should be able to start training back up to where I was and no problem with a half in Feb. Here goes! He sent me to a Dr to write the script so I see him Wednesday (a non-surg ortho who is also a runner and specializes in sports medicine). The PT said he works with that Dr frequently and he'll email him with my screening results so it will basically be an easy peasy appt for me to meet with him and get a script to get going. Can't wait to start feeling better!!

But the big news....

He's a barefoot runner and does NOT think my Vibrams are the absolute cause of all things evil in this world and told me we will work with both shoes and see what happens. :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

I am a vibram shoe person I love them but they took learning a new running style (use to heel strike) and getting use to using new muscles. I now wear only my New Balance Minimus I have 10s for everyday and 00s for running which I like better cause my one toe doesn't like those vibrams.

I had an Army Dr tell me to start wearing them when I was having hip problems from heel striking. Best advice ever my feet on a daily basis never hurt. Walked around the parks for a whole day never bothered me.

Best of luck

It's good to hear people who like them. I am so used to people telling me they are awful and bad and absolutely the cause of my problems no matter what. I walk on my toes and always have so they are the perfect fit for me. They did fine for me all along and then when this happened, everyone said "See! It just took time, but I told you so!" :worried: :(

Don't listen to people you have to run in what works for you. The minimum 00s are so thin they cn be rolled up like subway shoes. I always get the really that's your running shoe. But when a shoe energiezes my legs and makes my run so much more enjoyable.

I mid strike run now and really like it. I rarely have hip problems, my arches are back at the height they were in high school and don't have any pain or fallen issues. They have strengthened themselves.

As with any shoe you have to wear the one that works for you. I am glad to see someone else who has similar likes.

Princesses...I'm looking for a running jacket with hoodie, (a must) that will hold up in the rain. Any suggestions ??? I'm not having much luck looking online.
Thanks

Had the scheduled MRI and X rays today. I am totally out :(. I have a tibial plateau fracture. Ian scheduled to see any orthopedic surgeon in the morning.

I think that someone mentioned that it is possible to defer enrollment in a PHM to the next year. Anyone have any idea of how I might go about this?

Thanks!

I emailed rundisney directly last year when i thought i would have to defer. They told me no problem. Good luck and i'm so sorry to hear about your injury :-(

I am so very sorry. :worried:

Has anyone won anything on the instant win game for Run like Princess??? I've been clicking every day for DH and for myself and nada! We were out of power and internet for a week with Sandy though. :goodvibes

I won a pasta in the park ticket. It was actually funny, I came home pretty wastey faced after a halloween party and realized it was the 'next day'... So I figured what the heck, I'll see if I win. I sat in disbelief with how excited my computer screen was that I won. I woke up the next morning assuming I hallucinated it, but nope. I had an email saying they are mailing me some pamphlet about how to collect it.

Speaking of that, since I'm going solo, did anyone else do a pasta in the park ticket? If I end up going to it, I don't want to be a loner eating by myself! :worried:

Hi all! :wave2:

I made the mistake the other day in looking at the runDisney site and saw that the race wasn't sold out....:badpc:

Since then, visions of a coast-to-coast medal have been dancing in my head.....and so the convincing of the husband unit began. And I am victorious! Solo quest has begun! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I looked at page one and saw a few names I recognize. I just did the ToT as my first runDisney and am registered for the Tink 1/2 as well. I registered for the race tonight (after seeing that tomorrow/today is the last day to register for the lower price) and booked my airfare (on miles....woot!), but will deal with lodging tomorrow.

Great! I'll be at Tink too :). Since you just registered and haven't figured out lodging yet, I'm not sure if you've read any pages from the last few days, but evidently it was announced last week that the expo has moved to the convention space at CSR...in case that might have any bearing on where you want to stay!
