What view is that room typically? (Garden, water??)

They both had one side that faced the lake. The second side of the large one faced the YC and the other side of room 1501 faced the wooded area between BC and Epcot.

Hi everybody!

I wanted to come back and say hi to y'all! It's been a while, but as I warned, I tend to go into a post-Disney slump after Disney trips, and not post here for a while.

I'm feeling better though bc we have another Disney trip planned!

We're bringing DP's nephew to WDW for his first trip. He's 9 and doesn't know yet! His parents are going to tell him on Christmas...and when he's over the initial shock...then they're going to tell him that his uncles are going as well! It should be a great moment. I can't wait!

Sadly though, we won't be staying BC. Believe me...I tried....but it's not in the budget. We're going to POR in two rooms. DP and I are going to reserve a Royal Guest room......because...why not? I remember staying there when it used to be Dixie Landings and I have fond memories of that vacation with my family. I will miss by beloved BC though. I think what I'll miss quite a bit also, is the trip planning advice from this thread. It really is the friendliest thread on the Dis.

DP and I have decided though that our next WDW trip that'll be an extended stay will be BC...so we will be back....and Teena...don't think we won't be stopping by to see you!

I'm off now to price out airlines and hope the flights have dropped...oh...about $2-300 since yesterday. Oy, the April vacation airline rates!

Congrats Scott, we love POR. It's our fav moderate. We prefer the mansion section too. We stayed in Acadian House last visit, they were just done with their refurb, it was the first to be done. The new rooms are very nice. A friend stayed in the Royal Rooms and liked the room very much. I'd request Oak Manor close to Old Man Isl bridge for location, and closeness to main amenities.

I have a question: we are arriving in 3 weeks for BC standard view. Our group has 3 rooms and my BFF would like an adjoining room with her mom and dad. The only request on our ressie in addition to the two adjoining rooms is full balcony. This is really important to my BFF, not so much to me. We just want a room close to theirs.

We were not planning to do online check-in, but when we met with the TA to pick up our stuff, she said we have a better chance of adjoining rooms if we do online check-in because they assign those rooms first.

Two years ago, we stayed at CBR and while we had rooms on the same floor of the same building, they weren't right next to each other and we DID do online check-in, so this time we thought NOT to do online check-in and hope we can verify our requests and perhaps adjust at check-in.

I told my BFF I'd check with the experts on here to see what your thoughts are.

In Disneyspeak your rooms in same building/floor are actually adjoining rooms. Which means near each other. Last time I stayed @ CBR (2000) we asked for adjoining rooms and weren't even in the same building (we were in the same island and it was Christmas to New Years week.)
If what your friend wants is side by side rooms w/ a door that opens between them, your TA needs to specify connecting rooms.
I was told at the Poly in '09, that a connecting request was the first priority in room assigning, so if you request connecting and balcony and they have connecting w/out balconies, you'll get connecting w/out balconies.
I know the general consensus on this thread is not to do on line check in if you have specific requests, but as I fly cross country and thus arrive late, I always feel like I'm risking getting left over rooms when I arrive, so I do online check in. Plus checking in gives me an adrenaline rush and makes me think 'OMG I better start packing.'

I had a hard time getting the dancing bananas to behave and the Rock band is having some code issues but you know what we mean when we give you a big welcome back like this!

The trip with your nephew sounds GREAT! Are they just going to come right out and tell him or are they going to make up some sort of a puzzle game and have him solve the riddle? My niece and nephew are 3 and 5 so they are too young for that but I would have loved to have done that for our family trip to POFQ which is planned for late February.

Don't be shy! Share both trip planning escapades with us and I'm sure we can chime in with any relevant advice regardless of where you are staying. You shared such great info about your last stay at the BC/YC complex so you know we'd love to return the favor and help you out any way we can.

Anyway, Scott, I know the feeling!! I do the same thing. I'll go months sometimes without looking at the boards after a Disney vacation. This is my first trip to BC, so I've been following this thread pretty regularly over that last couple of months. Welcome back, and have a great trip!

Welcome Back! And, as others have said, you're going to love POR. We just stayed there in April in one of the Royal Guest Rooms and we thought it was great! My son was 9 at the time and my daughter was 12 and they both loved it. It's always nice to stay in a freshly remodeled room...it felt so nice and clean. We requested Oak Manor as it's the closest of the royal room buildings to the pool and lobby. Our trips to POR have been just as lovely as our trips to YC. Have fun planning!

BTW...our tickers are exactly the same...looks like we'll be checking in on the same day as you!

Now we are looking at our 2 nd trip for the year and the WDW price is too high and I refuse to stay anywhere but BC I am so sad because all I want is to go to WDW

I would do a little thinking on that. Sure BC is great, but so are a lot of other wdw resorts. We also love WL, AKL, and POR. We enjoy many wdw resorts, they all have something special to offer. And if it means a wdw trip or no wdw trip, you bet I'd stay at a moderate. POR is a beautiful resort. We've had wonderful stays there. We go twice a year to wdw so they can't all be deluxe stays, and some January trips we stay moderate, and summer tends to be deluxe. And we are just as happy at either.

We stayed at the BC a week ago and left our camera charger/battery in the room. Does anyone know if there is an e-mail address we could write to asking if the charger was turned in? Has anyone had any experience with this?

I’m hesitant to contact them, since the cost of these items has gone down so much over the last two years.

Hi all. We are new to the Beach Club. We have stayed at the Grand Floridian for 3 years in a row. We were just there during Halloween and had such Disney withdrawal, I (somehow) convinced my husband to take a road trip back to Disney. We will be there for 4 nights before Christmas.

I am such a creature of habit. Are the rooms/property feel much different than GF? I think the only diff. I will feel is not being on the monorail. Can you tell me your good experiences there? (especially if you switched resorts from something you were used to)

I haven't stayed at the GF for a very long time, but you'll find that the Epcot resort area is a very different vacation from a monorail stay. Instead of hopping on the monorail to go to a park or to another resort, you just take a walk. You can walk into Epcot in a few minutes and DHS in about twenty minutes, although the boat is a little more convenient for DHS.

The Boardwalk area has a lot of things to do. The atmosphere is a little more relaxed in my opinion. The feeling I got at the GF was one of luxury, where at the BC it was more relaxed. The rooms at the BC are great. I really like that resort.

Just curious, since every time we go to BC (6x) we have gotten a juliette balcony, we never asked to get a full or requested one though, not that we have had a problem with that. Our pending May 2013 trip, we will request for one. In anyones experience, at least on this thread, has this request been not fulfilled? We still won't have a problem if we DO get another juliette balcony, because we LOVE BC, just wondering what our chances are I suppose. Thanks!!

We stayed at the Yacht Club last May and were former GF patrons. I love the GF and the feel of being on the monorail, but I honestly enjoyed Yacht Club a little bit more. The CM's were great and the pool was unbelievable. We had milkshakes and icecream sandwiches at Beaches and Cream. We ate lunch most days poolside at Hurricane Hannah's. My daughters are big Magic Kingdom fans, so even though we were staying at an Epcot resort, we traveled by bus each day to the MK. The buses were very prompt on our trip and we found transportation really easy and convenient.

At first I thought we would miss the luxury of the GF, but I found the ease and laid back atmosphere of the BC/YC was really nice. The only place that I felt this resort did not match up to the GF was mousekeeping. They were good, but not great. There were no problems that would keep me from staying again, I just felt like they sometimes missed the small details that were always seen to at the GF. I think you will enjoy the resort and although you will find differences when compared with the GF, I think you will truly feel like you have made a great choice.

Just finished our stay this past weekend. We were in town for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon, and could not have asked for a better location.

We had reserved a standard room and did only check in last week. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a water view room which was great.

Bus service for the race was efficient, and being able to walk to and from Epcot for the festival was definitely a plus as well.

We stayed in a lagoon view room in May, so I am not sure what your view will be like. I just made reservations last night for a garden view club level YC room, so I am hoping we won't see a parking lot. Hopefully someone else can answer this for you. Have a wonderful time!
