Main Street Bakery closing date

I agree. This is very sad news. It's one of my favorite paces in MK. I understand that it won't exist as of December 1. Is that correct?

I read it will be closing in January to be made into a Starbucks.

Also, The Fountain View in EPCOT will be turned into a Starbucks as well.

I thought it was remaining MSB with the ADDITION of a Starbucks.....?? YES, that would be sad.

ETA: Just found the blog confirming the bad news for my very own eyes, so not good..

Maybe it is time to write and let Disney know how we all feel. I already did at their new customer service site.

fine with me if they close it...we have been severely disappointed over the last 2 years with the quality of the baked goods at Main Street Bakery. They went to mass-producing baked goods & then storing them in refridgerated coolers...then putting the trays directly into the display cases without heating them up. So the baked items were served cold and stale more often than not. The ooey-gooey cinnamon rolls? NOT. The frosting was hard & cracked off...the rolls were so stale they were like styrofoam. We quit going there a good 6 months ago after yet another disappointing visit there.

Hopefully they'll get fresh pastries with the Starbucks.:thumbsup2

DH and I are not big fans of Starbucks at all. We did get the ooey-gooey cinammin rolls last Sunday and they were delicious. Even brought a couple home - 10 seconds in the microwave and a little bit of Disney was there.

There are certain things WDW should not change and the Main Street Bakery is one of them!:sad2:

Ooh no!!! I will definitely write to them too. Starbucks is everywhere on earth. MSB can only be found there!!!

When I read the article it sounded to me that the bakery would basically add Starbucks service to the bakery. It uses the word" integrated". I am hoping that means that not much will change as far as pastries, and the coffee will be much better.;) I have to add that I have been so sad since french toast loaf was removed from the menu. It was a favorite and the traditional start to our first day in the MK.
I wonder if Disney considered offering coffee at the existing bakery and opening a Starbucks store off Main Street, that seems a reasonable compromise to me

I'll add my displeasure to this announcement. In recent years I have not visited it as often as I used to, but that was more because of weight control. I was so looking forward to a brownie on my next visit, but I guess I will have to wait and see...truth be told, I'd rather Dunkin Donuts :drinking1

I am very saddened by this news, as well. Ever since I was a little girl, it was a tradition for my family to stop in the MSB for breakfast whenever we visited the Magic Kingdom. We still go there every trip! ::yes::

I would be perfectly alright with adding Starbucks coffee to the already existing menu, but I don't see the point in eliminating the bakery altogether. Disney is disregarding the memories and traditions of a lot of families with this move. Nostalgia is what keeps me going back to MSB - and the cinnamon rolls.

Maybe Disney will listen to the fan outcry this time?

My understanding is that all of the traditional favorites from the bakery will still be there, with the addition of better coffee. Not that Starbucks is my favorite, but it's better than what they served before. And the theming will continue to match the Main Street atmosphere.

If this is commercialism run rampant, then its well within keeping with the entire Disney Park tradition (which is not a negative, in my book).

I'm soooo sad to hear this news!! Starbucks doesn't need to be on Main St.!! That's what I love about Disney, you don't feel like same old, it's special and you see things that you don't see at home or on the highway everyday. This is bad move and will take away from the atmosphere on Main Street.

Ok, take it a step further, is Tony's Town Square about to become Olive Garden? How about Le Cellier, maybe Outback?

Way I see it, people pay upward of $90 for a day in Disney only to be greeted by commercial USA... Yes, I know we had McDonalds french fries at WDW before, but it wasn't replacing what I think of as a Disney institution.

You hit the nail on the head.

ANYTHING they do will be an improvement.
