Goodbye Main Street Bakery....

I'm so excited that they finally annouced dates/locations just wish they were opening sooner. :thumbsup2

They're not replacing Main Street Bakery. Assuming it's like Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe in DCA (and I have no reason to believe it won't be), they'll simply be selling Starbucks Products in the Main Street Bakery with only subtle Starbucks signing.

Are you sure. this story said the main street bakery will close for refurbishment and reopen as a Starbucks. That says to me that it will be more like my corner starbucks than Main street bakery.

I'm just a gal that likes unique items a places. I've only been in starbucks on the East coast and the one in jersey is exactly like the one in Philly.

Must admit I was mad at first but seeing the pix from DCA helped me thru it. I have faith it will be done tastefully and confident most bakery goods will survive. I think the problem is SB is not a turn of the century business where as Coke Carnation and others are old time names that fit better in the "Main Street" era.

Agree. The pictures of DCA's Starbuck's addition look great. As long as they still offer the Main Street Bakery goodies that people will miss and keep the signage and theme, it sounds like people are getting exactly what they asked for :thumbsup2 Starbucks options, inside the MSB.

If anyone thought Starbuck's would offer their goodies without a small amount of branding they're crazy.

I for one am ecstatic that Disney is FINALLY doing something for their coffee situation...I have been a Disney fan (ok, my family calls me obsessed) for as long as I can remember and the "coffee" has been my one and only long standing complaint about the parks, (and the cruise for that matter). I was so happy to hear they were putting one in CA when they did the remodel, and I can't wait until they get around to putting one into DL. As others have mentioned the Starbucks in CA blends right in with the design of BV street, it is actually quite charming inside. I didn't even notice, or purchase any "starbucks pastries", I did however buy a Disney themed treat for every member of my family when I went in there for my Pumpkin spice latte. :hyper:

That being said...does anyone know when the one in MK is set to open? We do DL more often since we live in CA however, we are doing the Disney cruise that stops in Port Canaveral for a day in February and we will be spending the day in MK, it would make me so happy to know I will be able to get a cinnamon dolce latte...

If anyone is a Lewis Black fan, lewis Black does a hysterical bit about the End of the Universe and starbucks.

Just google lewis Black on Starbucks. I don't want to link because of salty language.

Starbucks coffee = :thumbsup2

Starbucks food =

I do mind Disney Corporate messing with MSB.

Disney be smart with this, life is not all about $$$.

The bakery IS Main Street!

If it's like the one in DCA they'll still have the bakery food as well. They'll just offer both.

I just told my DD. She is 20, you think she may be happy about SB she likes so much,.. not a chance. She said MSB is one of her favorite places at Disney and she can get SB anywhere. :worried:

Can you not get ice cream cookie sandwiches anywhere else in MK? I thought you could. or at least I hope so, even if I can't have the ice cream part!

With all this wailing and rending of garments going on, I would like one single person that is complaining to show me solid evidence that the traditional Main Street Bakery goods will no longer be sold.

I have no doubt that while all is said and done, everyone will be able to continue to gorge themselves on their cinnamon buns.

At first I was upset about hearing this but really, it will still be the first place I go for my morning coffee in the MK and now I will actually enjoy it.

I'm thinking that they may not have chosen the best wording. If you look at the pictures in the link in my previous post, the place in DCA that sells Starbucks looks nothing like your corner Starbucks.

But it looks nothing like MSB either.

I would hardly say Starbucks is for the 'hipster' or 'tween' ... its been going for 40yrs.

In my neck of the woods, that is who I generally see enjoying their goods. I have nothing against Starbucks. I don't care for their products, and I know that I am in the minority with that, but I just hope that Disney somehow maintains the integrity of the history and STORY of Main Street, U.S.A., with this change.

Change is hard for many people and I get it.....I am really looking forward to getting coffee in Disney instead of having the option to buy a cup of watery mud. I wont have to pack my own coffee/coffee maker going forward. I welcome this change, although the location is not ideal. I would have preferred that it be at the other end of Main Street, but adding congestion to that area is not the best idea.
