New Blog: Starbucks to Replace the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom

Very happy here. Great baked goods can be found everywhere around the parks, but good coffee is hard to find. Starbucks is no longer the best there is out there, but it is far better than Disney coffee.

Like others said, why not just work coffee and drinks into MSB?

This decision makes me sad. It doesn't seem right. :sad1: And I worked for Starbucks for 5 years and absolutely adore the company, so its not like I'm anti-Starbucks.

I'm SO disapponted. IMHO, Disney just isn't as.....magical with chains like Starbucks. I'm in WDW to get away from the real world, not be reminded of the food I could get at home. I don't like this. :scared1:

Mary Albright of WDWarrior started a petition if you feel strongly about the closing of the bakery.

She just started it now, so she needs some signatures!

I think this is a horrible idea. As someone else said, it takes away from the charm of Main Street. Let's get rid of all the little shops and replace them with Dollar Stores too. :rolleyes2

I think this is a horrible decision and dread the constant Grrrrrr GRRRRRRRRR GGRRRRRRr that will be emanating from the "bakery" as it's blenders turn out a constant stream of fraps.

I'm fine with a Starbucks in the Magic Kingdom; does it have to be on Main Street? To whoever said they should replace The Plaza with a Dairy Queen; spot on comparison.

For those that wanted Starbucks . . .
. . . be careful for what you wish
. . . you might just get it

- or -

As Pogo would say . . .
. . . we have met the enemy, and it is us.

This is so sad. I frequent DCA and enjoy the coffee there. But that bakery was not iconic like Main Street, so I guess I didn't mind seeing it go. I'm still on the fence about the bakery change at DL. I guess the new place is very well themed, but it's still not the old bakery!
But one thing I do know, the "Starbucks" in DCA has a horrendous line. Last time I was there I waited longer in line to get a coffee than I did going through the TSMM line twice. (TSMM only took about 20 minutes to ride twice). I timed it and the wait was around 35 mins for my coffee. The line could improve if they had a "regular" only coffee line. I was there with all the frappe, cappucino, etc people, so it takes time to get to the front. They still had cin rolls, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, but not the same as before. My friend said they should have put Starbucks at the noodle terrace location that hardly ever gets used. I agree.
I go frequently, so I sometimes choose to wait in the line and I don't feel I'm taking away from the park experience. But I don't know if others will feel that way.
Dang, I hate this is happening on Main Street.

speak with your wallets if you don't like the change and then Disney may reconsider. My guess is that just like DCA it will be extremely popular...

I was looking forward to going to the Main Street Bakery on our visit in May. Unfortunately, that is no longer an option since it will be a Starbucks. I will just be walking right by it. I can go to Starbucks anytime at home if I wanted.
What's going to be next - McDonalds?
Disney should have just sold Starbucks coffee and not have a complete Starbucks replacing the Main Street Bakery.
Extremely disappointed. Makes no sense.

I am not happy about this, I like the Disney magic and I believe this will be a mistake:worried:
