Goodbye Main Street Bakery....

THIS is the monstrosity that is getting people panties in a bunch? wow!

Like Josh uses to say, SHUT IT DOWN, VACATION RUINED.

:rotfl2: It could end the parks as we know it. People canceling their holidays left, right and centre. The reason = Starbucks infiltrating their beloved Disney World and "replacing" Nescafe. :rotfl2:

No. Here and there you can see comments from those of us who like this change, mixed with the other comments. However, this is a Disney fan forum, so the vast majority of people who post here will be unhappy with anything that might change what they remember, this one more so than others because it is something that goes back so far.
But have these people at least looked at the link provided a few pages back? MSB will reopen with a different name but serving the same sweets and MUCH better coffee!! I don't get it why this so bad!:confused3

Replacing that nasty stuff they call a coffee (or how I like to call it, NOCAFE) should be cause for celebration, it should even have a parade and fireworks to go with it!

I don't have a problem with corporate sponsorship in the parks, but Main Street should be a little more special. I would hate to see everything changed to appeal to hipsters and Tweens.

I think the main problem is the implication in the official announcement on the WDW site that none of the current baked goods will be sold in the newly themed Starbucks - it will be Starbucks branded pastries that you can get anywhere in the real world, maybe with a few pre-packaged Mickey cookies thrown in. It will not be the cinnamon rolls and the seasonal cupcakes and the ice cream sandwiches and the CS breakfast/lunch offerings that we know and love.

With a smaller secondary concern about the signage and how well it will or will not fit in on Main Street USA. A product such as Coke has enough history on its own that it's signs can appear to fit into a Victorian setting. Starbucks? Not so much.

I'm sure the theming will be great and blend in as much as any other corporate sponsor. My main concern is where will I get a breakfast croissant while the bakery is closed? I know where to find a cinnamon bun so I'm half satisfied.

The DCA location is NOT like this in anyway. It has more Disney food selections then Starbucks ones.

The top show shelves are Starbucks items, the rest are all regular Disney baked goods and pastries ect

In actual fact no one knows what this location will be like and we won't until it 1) reopens and/or 2) Disney release more information

This sucks!!!! Main St Bakery is one of our favorite places. I do not care for Starbucks at all!

Looking at this picture I see some croissants, sandwiches and bagels galore so my bet you'll be able to get your croissant right at Starbucks (which for sure will have a different name, like the one in DCA).

She meant while the Bakery was closed ;) More than likely the menu will stay the same once it reopens but with more selections

I said this on another post:

The message Disney is sending is loud and clear. They do not care a single bean about it's "guests". But only about profit. At least before we were able to think the guests were important to Disney. Millions of "guests" will love to have their Sbucks at the parks. There are dozens of places this national chain could open up shop but for Disney to close down the one remaining icon directly ON MAIN STREET is so very sad.

Our 25th Anniversary trip has been cancelled. I think we'll go celebrate in Europe.

Sorry about that!

But the picture might appease some of the posters who are sure Starbucks will only sell their own brand of pastries :goodvibes

I don't see any cinnamon rolls in that picture & yes I am aware you can get them at Sleepy Hollows. Not the same IMO. I really don't care if they bring SB into Disney. I won't drink it because it tastes like the burned stuff from the bottom of the coffee pot, but I know others like it. I just don't think it should replace MSB. Plenty of other places they could put it.

We need to remember tho, Starbucks states it really is not in the coffee business, they are in the real estate business...

Yep, just while it's closed, I'm sure they'll be back when it re-opens...they had better be! If not, that is when I will protest by...I dunno...probably carrying on going to Disney??? PS I'm sure Huey is a boy?? ;)

I'm doing my protest inside the rethemed and renamed MSB, while enjoying a Venti Caramel Frappucino and a cinnamon roll.

Initial reaction is one of dissapointment and sadness  Main Street Bakery has been a family tradition since our first visit in 1998. This is not like a historical corporate sponsorship like Carnation Cafe or Test Track by GM. This change sounds more like when a Starbucks comes into town and the independent local family bakery that has been around for years closes as a result.

Hopefully Diseny will do this in such a way that it is blend of the old and new along the lines of "Starbucks Main Street Bakery" but still sounds like a tradition to many is in jeopordy of being just a memory.

But this does worry me. I absolutely love the bakery. For foodies like me, it is a must stop every trip. I will not jump to conclusions until the change takes place, but I am concerned.
