From what Disney announced today, the bakery is closing in January to be remodeled into a Starbucks location similar to that in DCA. It supposedly will cater to the Main Street themeing.

I've got a feeling we'll be kissing Starring Rolls at Hollywood Studios goodbye too. I think Disney is using the Starbucks inclusion in the parks as a way to replace their internal pastery making. We want to keep our Disney pasteries! Just not the coffee. My guess is part of the deal to bring Starbucks to the Disney parks was to only have Starbucks pastry in the same shop. If that was the case they shouldn't have moved it into the Main St. Bakery. Use another space in the Magic Kingdom.

What crack park exec is making these decisions over at Disney?

They already announced today that Epcot's Fountain View will be Starbucks-ized as well as the MS Bakery.

This so disappointing. Not only is it sad to lose an iconic place like the Main Street Bakery, I worry that the first thing people will see now when they enter the MK is some sort of Starbucks signage. How long until all the store on Main Street are replaced with outside vendors? Will the Emporium turn into Toys R Us? Baskin Robbins to replace the ice cream parlor?

While I enjoy Starbucks, and would welcome the inclusion of Starbucks locations somewhere in the parks, it is very sad to me that Disney would chose to give such prime real estate & close a Disney icon to allow an outside vendor such prominence.

I've complained about Disney coffee a million times, but I'd go back to drinking the crappy stuff with a SMILE and promise to never complain about it again if it meant NOT closing Main Street Bakery!!!!!!!! (and possibly Starring Rolls and Kusifari which I also love!)

This is a classic case of "be careful what you wish for."

I agree with you all! I am so sad and very, very disappointed in this decision. My family absolutely loves the Main Street Bakery...we always go at least 2 or 3 times each trip and has become a tradition on our last night to pick up cinnamon rolls or chocolate croissants to take home with us. Once we are home we have our bakery treats for our first breakfast. It makes being away from our favorite place just a little bit less sad.
Like previous posters have said, I thought they were just going to be pouring Starbucks regular coffees instead of Nescafe'. I was excited about that but I am so very sad and (although it may sound crazy) angry about this decision.
I do not want nor will I purchase Starbucks pastries. I live in a small town of about 4000 and we have 2 Starbucks locations. I can get those any day of the week. I want the Main Street Bakery to remain the Main Street Bakery and I want Disney World pastries and treats!
I am really disgusted at the direction this seems to be headed. Maybe if we all rant loud and long enough they will rethink this very obvious poorly thought out decision. Someone needs to get fired!

Never never never in a million years would I ever have thought this would happen, not to Main Street Bakery! Still it feels like a bad dream, impossible. People are talking of protesting but I'm sure the deal is done and now Starbucks is like a cancer that we will be stuck with for many years to come. I wouldn't have had a problem with it if they stuck one in the back somewhere in New Fantasyland. A totally newly imagined place, but Main Street Bakery? And now I read that most likely our favorite baked items might not be offered as well? Screw that. I hadn't even thought of Starring Rolls or the Boardwalk Bakery going...and with this next gen crap on the way as well?

They are ruining it. The experience I loved so much I fear is slowly fading away and I'm not happy!

Like most folks reading this, we wanted Starbucks IN ADDITION TO the bakeries that already existed.

As much as I enjoy a giant Starbucks in the AM, *nothing* is worth giving up something iconic as the Main Street Bakery !

It must be a condition in Starbucks contract- Our coffee, our bakery goods.
