What month do you think is the best month to go on a cruise?

People will laugh, but I like September. The prices are right, the water is warm, most of the kids are back in school (there are a lot of little ones on board), and ...oh yeah, it is hurricane season. However, we are able to view alternative ports as adventures and enjoy the vacation.

What month do you think is the best month to go on a cruise?

Oh, man, that is soooooo subjective. We select our cruises based on itinerary primarily, then when we are able to go, and the prices.

Some people prefer to cruise during the holiday season. Others want hot, summery days.

Personally, we've cruised in May, June, September, October, and December. Because that's when the cruise we wanted was avaiable.

Depends on where you're going I suppose. For instance.....I wouldn't do Alaska in December, lol. We've cruised twice before, both Caribbean. 1st time was in August and 2nd was in May. August was ridiculously hot! Never again would I go that far south in the summer (unless a glacier was coming our way, lol). May was much better. It was still hot but not as sticky humid as August. We're looking into planning another cruise and we're going to go in April.

The weather is still great, kids are back in school!! (Quieter cruises-yay!!)

I watched a video the other day of a cruise in July and people were walking around with pants and jackets on! And the person filming kept on commenting how freezing it was. Alaska I bet is beautiful but if it's that cold in July, then I probably won't ever make it up there, lol.

My DH and I cruised to Alaska in June. Tracy Arm was really cold. The other ports were cold, when it was raining. The cold weather did not seem to bother the kids in the pools though (pools are heated). We would cruise again, but would probably do August or September.

The correct answer to this question is simply "This Month!".

Really. Any time of year is great for cruising. Its a nice, relaxing vacation. Do one whenever it fits in your schedule.

I guess it would depend on what you mean by the best time to go. Are you talking about weather, cost of trip or least amount of passengers. I've sailed in the months of Jan, Feb, Mar, June, Sept, and Oct. I would have to say for me the best time as far as weather was concerned would be in Februrary when I was in the Western Caribbean. Tje best time as far as cost of cruise would be October when I was on the TA cruise. The best time as far as the least amount of passengers was in October when I was on a TA cruise (could be the cruise and not the month).

We've been on two Caribbean cruises in October and loved both of them. The weather is still warm (low '80s), the prices are lower, and the crowds are fewer. We are lucky enough to have year-round schools so the kids are off for 3 weeks every October anyway.

Obviously, we might be singing a different tune if we had cruised a week later this year and had to deal with Hurricane Sandy.

Yes, June in Alaska was cold, but so worth it. Just dress in layers and enjoy.

Just booked a cruise on the Dream for our Christmas trip. And just figured out that it is probably going to be too cold to swim in the ocean? We are hardy, but does anyone swim at Castaway Cay in December? We've only gone there in the spring.

As for Alaska, never cruised there but I have been to Juneau many times. In the summer, expect weather in the 60s. It could be down in the 50s in June. When it hits 70 there the locals are out in tank tops, shorts, and flip flops! Add to that the fact that you will be on a moving boat, which creates wind going by you if you're near a railing, which is going to cool you down. So yes, layers! But it's not usually, IMO, unbearably cold. November on the other hand, well, there is a reason no one has cruise ships going up there in the winter!

We are going in early January and I've wondered the same thing. I've read average water temps are low 70s with air temp being similar to slightly warmer. We have a pool in our back yard and my DD will get in the minute it opens in spring with the water temp below 70, but I'm not sticking a toe in until it's at least 80. So, guess what everyone is getting for Christmas this year?

We cruised in November last year (right around veteran's day) and we loved it! The weather was great. Wasn't too hot or cold. We swam at Castaway Cay and Nassau without any problems at all. I would def. go in November again.
