Show Me Your Smolder! October 2012 B-Day TR NEW 4/1 Trip Wrap Up & NEW PTR LINK!

I'm here! Hope you guys are doing well! Looks like you got off to a "ruff" start!:lmao: I crack myself up! Oh and when I read this line :
There was actually a moment during the cleanup when I turned to DH and said "should I be a good tr writer & take a picture of this?" :lmao:

I cracked up again!:rotfl:

Anyways, can't wait to read all about your trip. Gonna get started on a TR myself soon...probably this weekend.:thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, what a tough start! Poor doggie, definitely not a world traveler! One of my cats pooped in its carrier when we were making the drive from Alexandria to CT, but it wasn't that bad, and fairly easy to clean up. I can only imagine what you went through! :scared:

Looking forward to hearing about your trip! I read your 1-year-birthday TR awhile back (after it was done) and really enjoyed it. We'll be bringing our baby (who will be about 14 months then) to WDW December 2013 and I hope she loves it as much as Paxton did at about that age.

I'll at least be lurking along on this one, but my comments might be sparse, as I rarely have both hands free to type. Plenty of time to read while feeding the baby, though, so can't wait to hear about this trip!

Yeah, but don't worry about using it in context. Just sneak it in there between a couple of food pictures and see what happens. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

You have a sick mind, my friend!!

:lmao: Thanks for the laugh! I hope y'all had a great time too! I'm looking forward to your TR. :goodvibes

I even told DH as we were driving, usually on long car trips I complain because our cat meows the whole entire way and it drives me nuts, but I told him after this experience with the dog I will NEVER complain about Callie's car temperament ever again!!!

Our trip with him at 1 was just about as close to perfect as you can get now that I look back on it from the perspective of having a two year old. :rotfl: I hope your DD has just as an amazing time as Paxton did too, because it sure made for an incredible trip for Mommy & Daddy as well.

No worries on the lurking, I totally understand! :thumbsup2 It is wonderful to have that little bit of reading time when they are young. I read SO MANY books while nursing Paxton and when he was really little and would only nap in my arms instead of the crib. Thank God for the Nook too so I could read everything and turn pages with one hand!!

A tiny bit late to the party - but here I am! Looking forward to all your pictures. Looks like you need a faster shutter speed with DS.

SP

P.S. Reason #135 why we will never get a dog: Car vomit (Poor DD wants a dog soooo bad, too. But is ain't happenin')

Just discovered this TR; I'm subbing in!popcorn::

Oh man, I've never had an issue with dogs and cars, but I can imagine it wasn't a pleasent experience.

Your DS is too cute with that pirate hat!

Better late than never!! You are probably right about the shutter speed...that little guy is FAST! Trying to get him to stay still for a picture was just one of those things you try for really hard but you know is not a legitimate possibility. :rotfl:

I have to say, we now know that making the two hour drive to New Orleans with Belle along is just NOT going to happen. So from now on, she'll have to be kenneled somewhere locally. We are trying to "car train" her enough that we can actually make the 10 minute drive back and forth to the vet without any accidents, but that is about all the car riding she will experience from now on!!

:welcome: Happy to have a new follower jumping aboard!

Ummm...not a pleasant experience is a nice way of putting it. :scared1:

Thanks! He LOVED that hat!

Yay for the start of this TR! Hubby and I are far off from having kids (at least in terms of our own plans for it!), so it'll be a while before we have to take a little one to WDW. However, in the back in my mind, I always pay careful attention to TRs that have little kids because I KNOW we will not be able to wait so long before heading back to Disney after having our first baby!

:wave2: Glad to have you here, Rachel!! I think you are right, once you do have a baby the first thing you are going to want to do is take him or her to Disney World. I know we did! It's like it's in our DNA!!

Day 1 Continued: Saturday October 20th

After deciding to nix our plans of going to a park that evening for dinner and an attraction or two due to the time, we got ourselves in the car and headed to Downtown Disney instead. Now, I know what you're probably thinking...DTD on a Saturday night? Are we crazy? But I was really hoping that because we were heading out there fairly early in DTD time that it wouldn't be that bad. HA!

The best thing about driving from Kissimmee was that on our way to DTD, we finally got to see the most amazing site for the beginning of any Disney World trip!

0030.jpg

We made it to DTD in no time, and that's when we realized this might not be such a great idea. Our only destination in mind was Earl of Sandwich for dinner, and all of the parking lots were full except for the one furthest away near Cirque du Soleil. So much for getting in & out, I guess. We drove around and around hoping to score one spot even the tiniest bit closer, but soon we had to admit defeat and park at the Westside.

0032.jpg

I ended up with this shot of the Marketplace entrance when we were hoping to get a closer spot, but it really just meant that it took us even longer to get back to the Westside lot since we had to maneuver around other slow moving cars and pedestrians crossing the lanes.

We didn't really have it in our minds to stop and shop anywhere since we wanted to make it somewhat of an early night. So we loaded DS up into the stroller and started walking across DTD towards Earl of Sandwich.

We passed the Phineas & Ferb & YOU attraction which looked pretty cute, and DH snapped this pic of our favorite cartoon guys.

0033.jpg

As we made it to the Marketplace section, we also came across a German band and stopped for just a second to listen to their performance.

0034.jpg

We made it through the hordes of people to Earl and of course, found a huge line inside once we got there. DH took DS for a walk around while I made my way through the line to order. DH got his usual Cannonballs - meatballs, mozzarella and parmesan cheese and marinara sauce. I decided to try something different this time and ordered for myself The Full Montagu - roast beef and turkey with sharp cheddar ceese and aged Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce, roma tomato and Earl's mustard sauce (but without the lettuce & tomato). I got DS the kids grilled cheese sandwich and grabbed us each a bag of kettle chips. We found a table outside and sat down to eat. DS wasn't crazy about his grilled cheese but he tore up that bag of chips! I really loved my sandwich too! I was glad I had decided to try something different than the meatball sandwich. I love hot sandwiches with gooey melted cheese all in it, so this was right up my alley, and just enough meat-to-bread ratio to make it really enjoyable.

By the time we finished eating, it was 8 pm so we decided just to head back to the car. Man, is that a long walk!! We got back and while I bathed DS, DH moved all of our luggage to our bedroom and set up his Pack & Play in the living room. He was down for bed at 8:40, so not so very late, while DH and I took showers and set out our clothes for the next day. We had a busy morning ahead so we wanted to be as prepared as possible!

Continued in next post...

Day 2: Sunday October 21st

Finally it was here, our first day in the parks! Originally, we were supposed to fly in this morning, so even though we had not made it to a park the night before like we had planned, at least what was supposed to be our travel day was now our first full day. It started out very early, as our alarms were set for 7 am so DH and I could get dressed and pack up all of our toiletries and dirty clothes from the night before. I got DS up at 7:15 to start getting him ready while DH started bringing the suitcases down to the car so we could get ready to check out. We would be homeless that day, since we were checking out of Wyndham Cypress Palms and couldn't check in at Wyndham Bonnet Creek until after 4 pm!

We were checked out and in the car at 7:45 am. First stop, breakfast! Luckily there is one of these right behind the resort, so we stopped for food and some milk for DS.

0040-1.jpg

Unfortunately, since I was trying to make sure DS ate well in the backseat without making a huge mess, I forgot to take a picture of the doughnuts before we started eating them! Haha But we got 4 regular glazed, one chocolate covered with sprinkles and one sugar doughnut, and they were every bit as delicious as I remembered.

Second stop, TTC! We were heading to Magic Kingdom that day, and hoping to make it in time for rope drop. So far, we were actually a little ahead of schedule which is nothing short of a miracle when traveling with a toddler. We parked and started following the signs to the monorail station!

0041-1.jpg

We got right onto the Express Monorail and we were on our way to MK!

0042-1.jpg

0044-1.jpg

DS, quit being silly!

0045-1.jpg

Much better

0046-1.jpg

As we zipped around, I just took in all of the views I had missed for a little less than a year. I couldn't believe we were really here!

0050-1.jpg

In no time, we were being let off at the Magic Kingdom and I was practically bouncing as we headed down the ramp towards the gates! I took this picture, although I was a little disappointed we were not going to the event and this was another little reminder of that.

0051-1.jpg

We had a little while to wait before the park would open, so we took the opportunity to take some pictures. This year, DS has been obsessed with pumpkins so that's where we went first.

Someone got a little tired of waiting and needed some entertainment while we were waiting...

0060.jpg

Lucky for him I had packed it in my backpack that day because I didn't want to leave it in the car all day. Not lucky for me, as between carrying all of the crap we needed for DS plus the iPad and my Nook, that backpack was HEAVY!

Another distraction...the switching hats with Daddy game!

And then...look, someone is up on the train station platform! Here we go, it's time for some magic!

UP NEXT: Our Magic Kingdom morning!

I thought I would just post a couple of pictures from our night of Trick or Treating with DS since a lot of you followed my PTR and I had posted pictures of his Halloween costume there.

Again this year, we went to my friend's house a few blocks down for dinner before the Trick or Treating, this year pizza from Little Caesar's. I was worried about DS not eating with all those people around, but give that boy some pizza and he's good to go! So once we ate, we headed outside to start ToT'ing around our neighborhood. It's very popular in our subdivision and a lot of people come from other towns to ToT there. People set up haunted houses at some homes, and everyone sits out on their front porch or driveway handing out candy, so no having to go up and ring doorbells. We almost perfected DS saying "Trick or Treat" so he managed to get it out at a few stops, and he almost always said Thank You. :goodvibes

IMG_2897.jpg

Ferocious T-Rex! (He was actually crying because he didn't want his picture taken, but it kind of looks like he's growling, right? :lmao:)

IMG_2902.jpg

Ready to go!

IMG_2904.jpg

My big boy, Trick or Treating (mostly) by himself!

It was even more fun this year than last year because DS at least had some idea of what was going on. So I'm sure next year will be even better!

He is your TWIN! That picture of you two together, oh my goodness, you look completely alike!!

And, ahhhhh, he looked adorable in his costume!!!!! Did he have fun?! :lovestruc

We were at DTD on the 20th too, and OMGoodness was it ever a mess. We got stuck in a row of traffic trying to turn left that wasn't moving (while a CM was just standing talking to people instead of helping direct traffic) The guy behind me ended up passing me on the left and pulling into oncoming traffic just to get out and around and about caused at least 3 accidents. It was pure madness.

That's so funny, people usually say he looks like a mini-DH! But I guess in that picture I can totally see it. :goodvibes

He had a lot of fun, except when I let another kid ride in his wagon. That was a near catastrophe!! But he loved going up to everyone to get candy and petting all the neighborhood dogs that were out.

That's nuts!! It was definitely packed, which is why we just wanted to get in, eat, and get the heck outta there! Luckily we were able to go back another night and actually walk around and shop.

I didn't quite realize how crowded DTD gets on Saturdays until I read your description. I had been entertaining the idea for a DTD visit on a Saturday for next trip but I think I'm going to put an end to that. :rotfl:

This picture makes my mouth water! When I lived in the midwest, I used to look for the "Fresh" neon sign turned on at the Krispy Kreme store and would pick up a dozen of the glazed ones fresh out of the oven. They would just melt in my mouth. :thumbsup2 Sadly, we don't have stores here in the DC area.

I'm always tempted to try new sandwiches at Earl. I LOVE the All-American, but the other ones sound so good too! I'm not that big of a fan of roast beef though, so it knocks out a bunch of others (I've tried it though from my mom, and I think if you like roast beef, it's good!). The Cannonballs one is definitely one I'm interested in. Since we're going in December, it seems like a very appropriate cooler weather treat! Are the meatballs really dense or are they tender? Haha, is that a weird question? I'm not a fan of really dense meatballs. Of course, we might have to make TWO visits since they'll also have the holiday sandwich!

Ahhh, your little dino is so adorable! Maybe you wrote about it in your PTR, but why would he not want to eat in front of all those people? Haha, that's like me ... even now!

I just have to pop in here and let you know that they DO have Krispy Kreme in the DC area. There is one in Alexandria, right outside of Old Town on Richmond Hwy (Rt 1). I'm assuming you live in Falls Church, so it wouldn't be that far from you. We lived in Old Town, and it used to take us less than 5 mins to get there, you should look it up!

Ok, no onto commenting! Yum Krispy Kreme, that is the true breakfast of champions!

I can't believe you were running early, even after having to check out of one resort and make it to the MK! Way to go, you earned your Disney stripes!

Glad you didn't have to wait too long for rope drop, I know how difficult it is with an antsy little boy! :goodvibes

This is just cruel. I didn't get any breakfast this morning because it took a lot longer to vote than I expected and I get to come in here and read about sandwiches and Krispy Kreme??? :faint:

Looks like a good start to your Disney visit. That first ride in on the monorail is always a great feeling.

I just got DW an iPad for an early Christmas gift so that she'll have it for our drive down, and so that we can use it as a distraction for DS. Trying to decide whether we want to actually carry it in the parks or not. I'm kind of thinking we might, but I need to find a backpack to throw all our stuff in.

Paxton looks like he made a great trick or treating dinosaur. :thumbsup2
