September/October 2013 check in

He said it, so it's done ;)

Lock it in Eddie!

I think Eddie locked it in himself. DH seems to be okay with the 4 weeks. Let the planning begin!

And I think we've just about locked in 2 - 8 Oct for the DisMeet in WDW. :thumbsup2

Wow that sounds fabulous :)

Good Morning All!

How is everyone this morning? I'm getting stuck in weighing up the options for character meals, I REALLY REALLY want to do Minnie and Friends. The atmosphere looks truly amazing! I'm also umming and ahhing over doing Storytellers aswell. Just because I love Chip and Dale and didn't get the chance to get a photo with them last time :(

Also, my Disney cricut cartridges just arrived! Any crafters who may be lurking here might share my excitedness in this!

Also also, I'm wearing my Marc Jacobs Daisy, oh so fresh today. It's the perfume that I wore while we were at Disneyland. Wearing it always makes me feel the Disney magic now! Does anyone else have things like this that remind them of Disneyland?? :wizard:

Kiwi, we love Storytellers. My DH insists we do it on every trip - who am I to argue? He loves the omelette bar. I really like the restaurant, reminds me a bit of the WL at WDW.

Any time I smell fairy floss I think of Disney, and calliope music does it for me too :)

i have a collage of pics from the last trip on my wall at home, so everyday when i get up for work and walk out the door, that pic of the castle is the last thing i see, and brings back so many memories :)

also, i use my phone as my alarm and every morning at 5.05am when it goes off, it displays the message 'one day closer to our disney vacation' -- that at least makes going to work more bearable :)

I'm not too sure about having to prepay as last trip Free Dining was offered upon our booking. My agent said some Character Dining bookings would require a credit card to confirm if dining was not added to my package. Also the 180 days booking was an advantage.

We are a family of 5 so staying in a room that sleeps 5 with the Murphy bed. I have found measurements for the bed and it would comfortably sleep my 17 year old who isn't very tall, it's almost the same size as the half of the couch she is always falling asleep on lol

We stayed at the Beach Club last trip which had a day bed, Beach Club not in the budget this time however as we are having 6 nights in New York this time also.

I'll pm you my travel agent, she is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and I don't have to worry about a thing.

:lovestruc

I found some photo's of the Murphy bed (we are staying at POR too). Apologies if you have already seen them.

Great pics, thanks for sharing them. We are 'just' going to DL next year, but in 2015 we are going to WDW and with the five of us, POR s looking like the cheapest option.

Even though your post wasn't directed at me, thanks so much for sharing. I hadn't seen those pics (or that website for that matter). Very interesting. That bed looks like it would be great for my son.

My pleasure, it is a handy website. The have updates on facebook too.

It is never easy to travel with 5. Last year we stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort as our youngest was under 3 so did not count in the room occupancy. We thought that would be the only time we would able to stay there as 2 rooms is too expensive.

Why couldn't they make that bed a normal single bed size?????

Because they are mean and nasty and want to make us get 2 rooms or a family room. I think DH will want more space after this trip as the kids get older. It may be our last on-site trip, though he does like free dining.

i honestly wish that a lot of hotels had the 2 x queen size beds plus a pullout sofa or convertible bed in the room. that would make life so much more simple.

as a result, when we travel, we need 2 x rooms and when on our cruise, we will need 2 x staterooms too. i was even willing to look at junior suites and royal suites etc on the various cruise lines, but it seems even they restrict the sleeping arrangements (and while some of them say sleeps 5 or 6, those additional people had better be either children or very very small adults because there is no way my 6'3 tall partner or his 6'4 tall brother would be able to sleep comfortably on some of those beds).

grrr.

i understand there are probably things like max occupancy for a reason/fire codes and what not. but from a consumer perspective, it kinda sucks :)

At least you're third, and fourth wheel pay their own way, when you have to get two rooms/cabins and foot the bill for both it kinda sucks!

Ok, so i'm thinking..

Bad move.

I'm actually starting to think I would give up our trip next year if we could do a cruise the year after, would have to be on The Fantasy, for the Eastern Caribbean though.

I think to go without one year for another extra special trip is a fair tradeoff.
Would the rest of my family though??

I can see where you're coming from. Airfares are SO expensive that you feel like you have to make the most of it while you are over there. I've told DH that w are definitely doing a Fantasy cruise on our 2015 trip. That ship looks amazing.

I agree, but being patient isn't always easy.

Perhaps plan a smaller trip closer to home for next year so everyone still has something to look forward to and then plan an extra special Disney holiday for 2014.

We were booked to go away this coming Jan for a 2 week cruise around Sth East Asia. Even though I was really excited about this cruise, I just couldn't shake the nagging feeling that if I just waited until late 2013 I could do the cruise I really had my heart set on - one on the Fantasy. So back near the start of this year I cancelled it, even though that meant waiting almost 2 years instead of 1 for my cruise. Two years seemed a LONG way away, so I compromised by booking a one week driving tour around the Sth Island to give me something to look forward to. We travelled on a budget, staying in holiday parks and backpackers and cooking our own meals. But the trip was awesome and I have no regrets.
