I've booked a standard room at POFQ. My travel agent told me that, at POFQ, standard rooms are rarely facing a parking because of how the resort is built. Most of the rooms face the gardens or trees. Is that true? Which building or section of rooms should I ask for to make sure that I don't see cars when I get out the door?

Thanks for your input

Not sure, I think they do face the parking lot, but have a barrier of trees and shrubbery to buffer.
You should ask this on the FQ thread, you'll prob get lots of good Dvice.

Your travel agent is misinformed. Yes, many of the rooms do not face the parking lot, but these are not standard view category anymore. And many rooms do indeed face the parking lot.

Standard view rooms at POFQ are now parking lot view only, and you will see cars and other vehicles if you are facing the parking lot. We've stayed in building 7 twice, both times with a standard view room. There is a screen of trees between the rooms and the parking lot, but the cars are still quite visible. That being said, the view is not that bad. Traffic noise may be something to consider though.

Garden view rooms and courtyard view rooms are now a bit more expensive than standard view. I think it is $10 a night plus tax. If you really do not want a parking lot view, consider upgrading.

Other than that, your best bet for a standard view room with quite a bit of greenery between you and the parking lot would be building 4.

I paid for waterview at POFQ one time. Worst money I ever spent. POFQ is a series of buildings with external corridors. If you want a view you either need to sit at the window or stand in the "hallway". I realize that some folks care about view and if I have a balcony to sit on I also factor that into my decision. I don't worry about it at POFQ.

POFQ is one of my favorite resorts and I mean it is really a lovely place to stay. There are pretty little sidewalks lined with plush greenery that surround courtyards that are complete with benches. This is a nice spot to relax. There are benches overlooking the Sassagoula river so you can take your coffee there to enjoy a waterfront view.

I have to say that I never really noticed the parking lot but I wasn't looking for it. I would say that you pick a building based on convenience and not view. And with this I should add that the resort is very small. There are no bad buildings. Our first trip we were in BLDG 1 and our room was located as far away from the stairway as possible. The only time I found the walk to be unending was the night my DGD fell asleep in my arms in front of the castle in MK, the bus was standing room only, the bus driver took a wrong turn and we ended up touring SSR, and then I still had the walk to our room. With her increasingly heavy little self still sleeping in my arms. That night it was long. The reality is that it is not a bad walk at all.

disneyba and nancyg sum up my thoughts, too. You could ask for a 2nd or 3rd floor room. Then you'd be above the cars and seeing trees across the way when you glance outside.

I agree that the room view doesn't matter at POFQ... Since the walkways are right ouside the windows, we kept our drapes closed almost all the time - I didn't like that people walking by could see into our room if they looked. In this case - I don't think it pays to pay for a room view - after all - FQ does have some of the prettiest views around, and you don't have to go far to see them at all. :)

D~

I agree, I would never pay for a water/river view at a moderate for. The reasons stated, no balcony! But I usually do pay for garden view. And I request an upper floor, less foot traffic going by my window. I don't like keeping my drapes closed if its daytime ( unless we are dressing!) and find there isn't much foot traffic unless your on ground floor.

There is lots of landscaping so even though you face the parking lot there is usually a green belt and its really not that bad. I really wouldn't spend the extra for a room view because unless you want to stand at your door and look out there really isn't a good way to enjoy it. We paid for a water view once and what we got was a room by the pool but we couldn't see if because of all the trees. Never again. Its a nice resort, hope you enjoy.

I agree, the view doesn't matter. You can't really see anything anyway.

The only time I notice the view at a Moderate is when I walk out the door and it's really not a big deal. I've stayed in buildings 3 and 4 with a parking lot view and I never gave it a thought. The view is really of landscaping and you can see cars beyond the landscaping. Again, it's not a big deal to me.

Hmm. . .I booked standard view in 2009. Was third floor.

I faced the parking lot. A good portion of buildings at POFQ face the parking lot. There is a separate garden view category now, so I would say probably most standard views are parking lot views.

We paid for a garden view only because standard was not available. We were on the third floor and our view was of a tree. Like others have said unless you keep your curtains open it doesn't matter the view but everyone walking outside will see in your room.

Good Morning, DD and I enjoyed building 7 facing the path to the food court and main Building.

We have been very fortunate all the years we've been to WDW. We have always booked standard and been up graded to preferred when we checked in. POFQ is a super resort all the way around. I personally don't think you can get a bad room.

Below my ticker is our 2012 video and photo album if you have the time to view them.

LOVE POFQ! We're staying there again in Jan! We've done standard both times (and again in Jan). The first time we had a river view in Building 7. The second time we were just around the corner in building 7 and had a corner room. LOVED having 2 windows!

I don't really care what the view is either. As long as I'm not looking down at the roof of another building, I'm happy. Our family always gets stuck with the crappy views when we vacation anywhere else!
