Awesome photos! We are getting really excited. This resort seems like a gem for the price and we want to save a little with this trip.

We are CBR lovers all the way and have stayed there eight times. I have tons of pictures of the resort in my trip report and have posted them on the CBR pic thread as well. Just click on the link in my signature to have a look around.

We're going in 4 weeks already and should be receiving our Mickey Mail any day now (once the mail picks up again in the aftermath of Sandy). Is that when we find out our room assignments? I already know we will be in TS b/c we paid for Pirate themed rooms. However, we don't know what section my mom and brother will be in. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks!

Just like at any WDW resort, you won't find out your room number until you physically check-in.

Just booked yesterday for the end of August. I got a 35% off rooms for that time so I figured I should use it...wanted free dining but something is better then nothing. The lady who made our booking said we could change it if free dining comes up for that time period. It would save us about $1000 more then the room discount but like I said some saving is better then nothing. I asked for connecting rooms which I didn't think they would guarantee but she said it was since there are 3 children and only two adults with two rooms. Hope that is the case because I've read people who say it is and people who say it isn't, but I have to believe it when the booking agent says it's so. Fingers will be crossed for this. My sister is staying here over Christmas because I showed her pictures of the resort and she said she loved the look of it. August seems a long, long ways a way!:cool1:

If there are more minors than adults they will guarantee the connecting rooms. Otherwise they are just a request.

They will do everything in their power to grant this request, but it is definitely not guaranteed. It's one of the reasons there has to be at least 1 registered adult (18+) in each room. If a parent was traveling with of their 4 minor (3-17) childern, they won't allow that parent to book 2 rooms. They can't guarantee them connecting rooms.

Not guaranteed. Think about it: When they make your reservation they are not blocking rooms out for you. Rooms are not even pre-assigned until a few days out. They have no way of knowing this far ahead if there will be connecting rooms available for when you check in.

They will do what they can, but they are definitely not guaranteed. It ups your odds of getting them if you make no other requests. Don't ask for connecting first floor rooms in Jamaica 45 that overlook 2 trees and have ducks walking by at exactly 4pm.

We'll see what happens with the connecting rooms, though I said to her "I know you can't guarantee..." and she said "no its guarantee". I've had connecting rooms at other hotels with out issue so they must be able to manage it somehow. People don't seem to have issues with it at the Universal hotels:confused3> I did request two buildings but said the connecting room was more improtant than anything else and really we don't mind walking etc. and really don't plan to be in our rooms very much. We aren't to difficult and if it doesn't happen as long as they are right beside each other it should be ok, though maybe not so thrilled having the 16 year old and 12 year old staying in a room together. I'm not the kind of person to make a fuss, though I would point out to them that she did say it was guarenteed and they should do that if it isn't as for some people it could really matter a lot.....Darn I knew I shouldn't have requested the ducks...oh and the aardvarks!!!:rotfl2:
I'm not going to stress about it as it's our vacation and we are there to enjoy it and stuff happens and you can't let it ruin your vacation. I always wonder about some people who post here and complain about every little thing and I can't help but feel they couldn't of had a good vactaion because of it. I get that your paying a lot of money for it and want things to be good but you have to have real expectations about it all. So really no aardvarks are going to happen....don't think they have them in Florida any ways.

CerysG - You definitely have the right attitude.:thumbsup2 I only bring up the non-guarenteed connecting issue because I want to be factually correct. Lots of people read these boards for information. No matter what the booking CM says, they cannot guarantee connecting rooms.

Good friends of ours travel to WDW 1-2 times a year and request connecting rooms. Out of the past 15 trips, only once did they not get connecting but did get adjoining. It will probably won't be an issue for you at all.:cool1: Just wanted you to have the correct expectations, which it appears you do.:thumbsup2

here's what I have to say abour connecting rooms.... be careful!!!

In august, we locked ourselves OUT of one of the connecting rooms. personaly, I would prefer adjoining rooms. we had our reservations linked (hubby and I) with our son, DIL and grandson. I said, "we don't WANT connecting rooms, adjoining would be nice, or at least in the same section on the same floor..

well, they gave us connecting. since we were there at 9am (driving over from AKL) and the kids were flying in later that afternoon, I was afraid to mess with it. take a dif. room and then have NO idea where they might be placed WHENEVER they got there.

(i still felt guilty possibly taking it from someone else) ANYHOO... the first night, we were going out to dinner at DTD. collected inour room. our son went back into their room, through the connecting door, for something or other. and decided to put the bolt on the outside door. thencame into our room, we had a drink.. left via our outside door.

upon our arrival at pop century later that evening, he could not get into his room! he had the bolt on! ok, guess you'll have to access it from our room... guess what?

there is NO door handle, knob, anything on the outside of thier connecting door. as soon as we opened OUR door (for the connecting door, it pulled his door shut. NO way to open it!

it took about and hour and a half to get someone up with a littel lever to .. VIOLA... unlock the bolt. (on the phone , we explained the issue, but they still sent someone up right away with a "master key"... 20 minutes later, um, no that's NOT the problem, the master key doesn't do anyting about the bolt.)

so, if you use the connecting doors, leave them WIDE open, and dond't use the bolts.

Do you think it makes any difference doing inperson or online checkin as far as getting what you requested or really just the luck of the draw? Connecting would be great (hopefully no child will lock us out) but can live with adjacent.....thought I really wanted the aardvarks as I hear they do the limbo!

Luck of the draw. Your room is assigned 1-2 days prior to your arrival whether you do online check in or not.

So excited. I booked a pirate room for our anniversary trip in May. It will be our first time ever being away from the kids. I did a room only and hoping for a nice discount. I can save money on the tickets by buying the FL resident passes. I was thinking about doing a package with the DP but I think we can spend less than it would to pay for the plan. Now I just need to our money plan to go my way. It is also a surprise for hubby. He has no idea and it kills me. Their are times I just want to bust out and say everything. This will be our first time staying on property and about the only time we can afford a mod level resort. I did the pirate room cause hubby is a kid at heart and when I showed him pics of the pirate room and he said "forget the kids I want to stay there". So that's why I did it for my big kid. He deserves it.
