Difference Between Hotels

Rooms open to outside- V & M
Inside corridor- D
Restaurant options- TS at M & D
More transportation options- D

I'm sure there are many others, but those are the first 3 I thought of.

A few more...

Most D and M hotels have pool slides/hot tubs etc. values just have pools.

V hotels definitely have lower quality matresses, towels etc, but I just stayed at Pop and found it ok (but no where near fancy).

basically, the more you pay the fancier the amenities :-)

Room size. Values are 260 square feet, moderates are 314. Deluxes range from WL at 344 to GF at 440.

Even though deluxes have table service dining, I want to warn you that the quick service places are not food court types like you would find at values and mods. The qs places at deluxe resorts are much smaller with fewer options. I've seen posts from people who went from a value or mod to staying at a deluxe and were not happy with there not being a food court.

Values have double bed except the suites and most of the moderates and deluxes have queens. To me that makes a difference.

Deluxe and Moderate have shaded bus stops. That is truly welcome in Fla. Also, Deluxe and Moderate have shaded, lush landscapes and pathways, and that, too, makes your visit so much more pleasurable. Values and Moderates have Table Service, Values do not. Moderates have live entertainment Weds-Sat in an indoor lounge. I know at POR and POFQ, the entertainment lounges welcome families of all ages.

Moderate and Deluxe resorts have pool towel service pool-side. Values ask you to use the room towels as pool towels and they aren't very thick/heavy but I was very impressed with their cleanliness. It is much easier to get a drink refill at a Moderate or Value resort.

Having stayed at least once at each type, I would agree with everything said so far. But just wanted to add that in terms of the "niceness" of the resort and amenities, I noticed a much bigger difference between the values and mods, than between the mods and deluxes. As far as location and travel time to parks, I think there is a bigger difference between mods and deluxes though, than value and mods.

There's no difference among the people at the different resort levels.

Other than the fact that large groups, sports teams, school groups stay at values and mods and hardly ever at deluxe.

Mods and deluxe usually have 2 sinks to get ready, values only one.

Values and mods are surrounded by parking lots. If you drive, you're closer to your room. Deluxe usually have more remote parking lots and it's always a "walk" to your room.

Deluxe will usually have a couple different gift shops themed to the resort. Mods and values usually have only one and are more generic (although you can get Blackened Voodoo beer a Port Orleans LOL)

Deluxe has bell services in the lobby. Mods and Values have luggage services that will take your stuff and bring it within a couple of hours.

Deluxe has more services like laundry, room service, shampoo body lotion and shower gel are all separate. Mods and value have combination shampoo/conditioner.

All of the deluxe hotels have some sort of proximity and direct access to theme parks and usually by boat or monorail. Bus service seems to be better or more consistent at mods and values.

a lot. size, location, transportation, pool slides, ts, valet, people,
Ummm, I own DVC at both BWV and BLT. I've stayed at every level of resort....Pop, ASMusic, POR, OKW, S/D, BCV, YC, AKL,(Jambo House and Kidani), Polynesian, CR....I don't really think you can say the people are any different at any level of resort.

Yes, the rooms are a bit smaller at the values. But, since we seldom put more than 2 or 3 in a value room, we have no issues. I love the moderates, but find they aren't really worth the addtl money vs a value. I shun the hot tubs...can not deal with the kids playing in them during the day and the drunken adults in the evenings. I usually don't eat at the resort restaurants, so that's not a huge plus for me. I do like food courts though, so that's a plus.
And there are times that I really enjoy the over the top loudness of a value..it's just fun!!!

Transportation is usually better at the values..especially Pop and AoA...they have a lot of people, but the buses tend to come more frequently. And once you are on the bus, you go right to the park. They make no addtl stops.
The values don't have slides at the pools. The moderates have slides but they are shorter and not nearly as 'cool' as the slides at the deluxes.

Location can be a plus. WL and AKL are both considered deluxe but slightly lower priced deluxes due to their location. It's nice to be able to walk to a park from your resort, or take a boat or the monorail.

All in all? It just depends on what type of vacation you want to have. I've had wonderful stays at Pop and not so wonderful stays at the Polynesian. You just can't generalize about the resorts.

There is a HUGE difference between resorts and resort categories. I've spent the last 10 years studying all 28 resorts and they are all unique and wonderful in their own ways. I wouldn't even attempt to short list the differences.

AMEN! :thumbsup2 I stayed at the BC CL in August and I'm checking in to Pop on Friday. What kind of person does that make me??? :lmao: It's crazy to even suggest there's a difference.

just curious-do you have a favourite? :)

we have stayed in values, mods and deluxe villas.

all enjoyable experiences-but liked okw best.
this was due to the extra bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living area and laundry facilities.these are not available even in deluxe hotel rooms-so not an option for us.

personally-my opinion only-a hotel room is simply a hotel room-a place to sleep-if you want different facilities and will use them-eg water slide, gym,ts restaurant then book a higher level.
if you want to relax at your hotel, and spend daytime time there, then we need more than one room. :goodvibes

So far my favorite has definitely been Poly. Since we always take an afternoon break, the bigger room and nice pool were really worth it. And I loved being on the monorail!

CBR was nice, but unless there was no price difference at all, I would pick ASMo over it. The differences weren't enough to justify the cost to me.

We are staying at YC in April, and of course I'm totally expecting to fall in love with it, but it's going to take a LOT to beat the Poly for me. We'll see :)

poly looks lovely-maybe when it's just me and dh we will get to go!

dh said the only difference to him from values to por was an extra sink-that never got used-now an extra toilet? that's a better difference!
