One week from today we will be in my most favorite place! Yay!! But now we have to deal with "Frankenstorm"! I can't believe this storm that may hit us! I hate that one of the models shows it coming up the bay!! We finally have a whole house generator and as long as my plane takes off at 7am on Friday from DCA, I'll be fine! Sent my room request to IPO. Asked for a room that was closer towards the bay with a courtyard view, preferably one facing the water. Hoping for one of the two rooms that faces Bay Lake but don't hold much hope! Right now all I want is to get to Disney!
Debbie

This storm was not in our plans either. We were scheduled to fly out of Boston on Tuesday at 6am. Unfortunately right in the middle of when Boston will be getting hit. Jet Blue put a travel advisory out for Boston this morning so we were able to move our flight to Wednesday and we extended our trip a day on the other end. I just want to get to the OFC!!!!! Hope everyone has safe travels

Disney has been great about moving our WL reservations except they charged us a $15 fee. Weird seeing as though we have no control over a hurricane. Thought they might waive it ..but no. Not a lot of money but....

Kook- we have been very lucky the last two times- Irene and the H'ween snowstorm. But, we have learned to have batteries and water- they come in use anyway :)

Safe travels to those trying to get out or back :)

We are here and were welcomed with some pixie dust, in he form of a room upgrade, yay!!! We booked a standard and have a courtyard view. Let's see if I can figure out this picture upload thing...

I do agree with the other posters that say the sound control is just not great here!!!

We had a late half lunch atWhispering Canyon Cafe today. The chicken sandwich was sooooo good. And of course the milkshakes were yummy. We split the sandwich and I love how Disney divides it up for you!

Has anyone had an experience with requesting bed rails? A pack and play is too small for DD and she doesn't sleep well in them. I just saw you can ask for them but wanted to get more info/feedback. Would it be better to bring my own inflatable ones? TIA

We have gotten a bed rail twice (POR and POFQ) but not at WL. They weren't in the room upon arrival but called and they brought them right over. They were very clean and very large. Worked perfectly.

Similar topic, I also recently heard that step stools for little ones who can't reach the sink can also be requested. Does anyone know more about that, specifically at WL?

1 week from today we will be checking in at WL for our first stay there. I wish I could fast forward through the week because Sandy seems to be headed right for NJ:(

VBChristy, Congrats on the pixie dust. That's a great courtyard view!

On our last stay at the WL, I requested a foot stool so that my DS (4) could easily reach the bathroom sink. Housekeeping quickly provided a small stool which was just perfect! The stool was easily stored under the bathroom vanity and DS slid it out before each use. We are heading back to the lodge in a few weeks and am planning on requesting this once again.

Got back last night from a wonderful Disney week at the Wilderness Lodge. It was our first trip there as a family, and we had an absolute blast. The Wilderness Lodge is tremendous, and I'm soooo happy we chose to stay there. If there's a better property to stay at Disney, man, I'd love to see it. The building itself is so beautiful, inside and out, and the grounds, pool area, lobby, just everything, are spectacular, and I'm sure we didn't experience half of it. Its location is a huge plus as well, as it's such an advantage to be able to take either a relaxing short boat ride or a 3-minute bus ride to the Magic Kingdom. When we had to take buses back and forth to other parks, the time spent waiting for and riding (or standing) on buses was a lot more noticeable, which I guess is a polite way of saying annoying and aggravating. Having to deal with that every time I wanted to leave or return to my hotel would have gotten old fast.

I'm also extremely glad we went when we did. I can't imagine dealing with bigger crowds and longer lines than we had, or being there when it's hotter than it was. I was staggered by the vast distances we'd sometimes have to traverse through unpeopled mazes from the entranceways to many of the attractions to the actual ride. I can't comprehend actually standing in a line that long, which apparently people do during peak times. Or having to watch buses fill up and pull away and stand there waiting for the next bus, or the one after that. No thanks.

I'll post more thoughts later when I've had a chance to recover a bit. But for anyone who hasn't chosen a resort yet, I can''t recommend the Wilderness Lodge highly enough. I would have loved it even without kids, but it's really a great place for families with kids.

Can I just say that I really want to skip over the next three days and just get to the end of the week so I can leave for Disney!! As I type DH is outside checking the generator to make sure all is good. We are planning to hit Target this afternoon. I know it will be crowded but need some things for the trip. I keep reading everyone's reports from WL the past few days and remembering WL from our previous visits and it has a calming effect! I have never been so happy that we booked CL, going to need this vacation!
Question - when flying, is there any way we would get bumped from our flight in order to make room for people who are having to rebook from the previous days. I just looked at JetBlue and it says people who have flights scheduled for the next couple of days can rebook with no penalty with dates till Nov. 4th. Does that impact us flying out on Nov. 2?
Off to do more laundry and take another shower while I still have water! :-)
Stay safe everyone!
Debbie

SO excited!! We have had March 21-24, 2013, booked at WL for a little while now for DH's 40th and DS's 5th birthdays! Today, we got to change it to CLUB LEVEL!! I am so so excited!

We've never stayed CL before, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know what I don't know, if that makes sense! :lmao: I have already made our ADRs, so we're set there. Thanks for any tips/tricks! :thumbsup2

Good to know! We have a li'l shorty 6-year-old. Thanks for sharing!

Only 28 more days for us!! :cool1:

I will second the thank you! I took a rubbermaid-type container the last two years (packed it full of course to not waste suitcase space) to use upside-down as a stool, but even though still small, DS5 is getting a little to heavy to rely on standing on that anymore. Will certainly be asking housekeeping this trip instead if he still can't reach!

I'll be on the same Disney Dream cruise!!! It is my first time cruising but I'm not sure if I'll be staying at WL before and/or after the cruise but I am staying there this weekend!!!! It will be my 10th stay at WL in the past 12 years so I'm psyched to be able to share one of my fav resorts with my DBF. Happy planning!!!!

Bus or boat to MK ? We have only used the boat but it has been a long time since we stayed at WL. Does the bus go directly to MK or do we have to go to TTC ?

Does the lounge still close ? We usually like to pick up a few sodas after late nights at the parks and will need to stock some if the lounge still closes. Thanks.

The rain and winds have started here in Northern VA. I hope that everyone affected in any way by Sandy stays safe and if you're going to be traveling soon, I wish everyone safe travels. We made an important run for Krispy Kremes yesterday, so we are well fortified;)

Good to see you got your departure at both ends adjusted:thumbsup2

That is weird because you had a very good excuse and I have never encountered nor heard of a resort switching fee. I know it's only $15, but you might want to inquire about why you were charged this. Myself and others I know (helloooo pas130:rolleyes1) have changed reservations multiple times and have been grateful never to have been charged a cent.

Kook- we have been very lucky the last two times- Irene and the H'ween snowstorm. But, we have learned to have batteries and water- they come in use anyway :)

Yes, safe travels to everyone!

Kook- no luck on FLE. Tried twice and rejected both days
That's too bad. Have you already left or can you still try again?

You guys are really going to need a vacation after Sandy visits.

Thank you for your great TR, jcaboose! It does sound like you picked a great time to go. I don't like those lines either and they really cut into your vacation time.

Sounds like you'd return to WL - did you book a BB? Looking forward to hearing more details after you're all settled.

I can't answer your flight question, but I'm sure someone else can. That seems like a very good question right now.

If you forgot anything yesterday, I bet Target, if it's open, is a ghost town today. Think happy WL thoughts and I hope your trip goes smoothly.

Congratulations! What a wonderful upgrade. If you want, you can email the IPO and introduce yourself and ask them any questions you might have or make any room requests. They should email you soon, but that frequently doesn't happen. Just include your confirmation number in the subject line of your email. They can also make recreation or tour reservations.

I hope you have a wonderful stay this weekend and an uneventful trip.

Yes, the lounge is still closed in-between service for one hour. You can always take extras and store them in your fridge and/or you can ask a CL CM to get you any drinks you need when the lounge is closed.

Hope everyone in Sandy's path is safe! I am so far behind here, so I haven't posted in a long time. If I have power tomorrow, I will make a point of getting through all 20+ pages. I have loved all the pictures and posts from everyone. Happy 100th page (again). This thread is the best!!

Got my Mickey mail today!! :goodvibes love the new luggage tags:) can't believe how fast October flew by! Will really need to get serious about getting all our junk together lol
