Just waiting for Hurricane Sandy to make our visit here. Today was my 180 day mark - was very thankful that we still had power this morning... I was able to book all of my dining reservations without any problems.

Bring on the power outages!!!

Woot! Just got our ressies switched to June 5th! And the insurance transfered! *whew*! Now I'm SUPER excited for our perfect Disney vacation! :woohoo:

I think the categories have been changed and what was called "garden view" is now categorized as "standard".

I agree not to fax in any requests as that is a thing of the past. I always put requests in when I book our trip, and then I call back a day or two prior to arrival to verify everything. I have never done online check in, but from what I've read, if you do have requests, it's best not to do online check in because you will get a packet with everything in it upon arrival vs actually checking in/speaking with a CM. If you get assigned a room that doesn't meet any of your requests, you could ask the CM if it's possible to wait for another room, which can't be done when you do online check in. I know requests are just that and are not guaranteed, but sometimes a room that matches your request(s) might be available later in the day if you are willing to wait. With that said, I don't think there is a bad room/location at the Poly, so if you don't get your requests met, you will still have a great room/location :goodvibes.

Thanks for this info. I always do online checkin, but after reading this, I think I might wait. We were in Samoa last time 1st floor facing the quiet pool and I LOVED it!!! I'm hoping for the same location. Thanks for the great tip!

Help! I am trying to decide between getting a TPV studio in BLT vs a standard room at the Poly. We are only planning to stay for 2 nights in May after our cruise. We will be spending 1 day at MK, so that's why we wanted to be on the monorail. We have only ever stayed off site or at a moderate before, but would love to try a deluxe this time for the convenience to MK and the ability to view the fireworks from our resort on the night that we check in. Our kids will be 4 & 6 and will love using the pool and waterslide. I know that a studio is small, but we will have just gotten out of a standard indoor room on the Dream, so I don't think that will bother us very much.:rotfl: I am leaning toward BLT right now, and just wanted to know what would make you choose Poly over BLT. (BTW, In the interest of full disclosure, I know this thread is full of people that love poly, so I already posted the same question on the CR/BLT thread :) ) TIA

Atmosphere, atmosphere, and oh did I mention the atmosphere? LOL. I wouldn't chose BLT over Poly. Yes, the rooms at BLT look great but the atmosphere and theme at the Poly cannot be beat! If you want to just use the monorail the Poly is also more convenient when traveling to MK. The monorail will make one stop at the GF before dropping you off at the Mk. From BLT the monorail stops at TTC, Poly, GF, and then the MK. Last but not least, I would not pay the extra money for a TPV room when you can get that view for free on the beach of the Poly. I myself had contemplated TPV at Poly for our trip next year but came to the realization that's it's not worth the extra money. Most, if not all, the standard rooms at the Poly have great views!! We always like to stay in Fiji marina view (same as a standard view) and love it. The most popular seems to be Samoa pool view (also considered standard) but with a view of the volcano pool. Good luck deciding but I say stay at the Poly! :)

Once you stay at the Poly, it's just home. I can't describe it any other way. I can stay at any other resort on property, but when we walk through the doors to eat at Ohana, my daughter and I inwardly sigh and just say to each other, "We're home". It's just a feeling you get when you stay there. After staying at the Poly, no where else can compare. That many not be much help, but it's just very much how my family feels. :-)

We had the same debate....we are doing two night stay after a week in Clearwater....we chose the poly for convenience of monorail and the overall look of the resort. With three young kids I think the monorail will be awesome.

We haven't even stayed at the Poly yet, but I'm thinking of booking another (additional) trip. I just found out we most likely will get the whole week off for Thanksgiving next year. My question is, how soon do we need to book? Or rather, how long can I wait to make sure we have the week off, and still get a room? And for those of you who do Club Level, does that book faster?

Thanks!

Hi

We are here! We where greeted by Jennifer and she was so welcoming And fun with the kids! We were in room 1535 in Hawaii but it was dark and looked onto the loading area, which could have been tolerated except for the newly left snake skin on the patio! I couldn't sleep a wink worry about snakes. I know it is silly but it's my thing- hate the things! So we are moved to third floor looking out over quiet pool! All cast members have been amazing! Loving it.

Booked CL for the second week in April. Very excited. What happens if the refurb of Hawaii isn't completed by the time of our trip?

Glad the insurance transferred :goodvibes.

You're welcome :). We had the same location and although I requested a view of the volcano pool, we loved the quiet pool view.....it was very pretty and peaceful ;).

My choice would be the Poly. We've never stayed at BLT, but I agree with the pp that the beach at the Poly is awesome for watching the fireworks and getting to MK is quick as the monorail only stops at the GF before getting to MK :goodvibes. Plus the tropical atmosphere at the Poly is so beautiful and relaxing and can't be beat :cloud9:. Good luck.

If it's a possibility, I would book now as you can always cancel later if you find out you can't go at that time. We've never been during Thanksgiving, but that's a pretty popular week and those few nights prior to and after Thanksgiving are usually blocked out for discounts, so I would get the room now to make sure you get what you want :).

Have a great time :yay:. Glad you were able to change rooms. I would have requested to move too if I saw a snake skin on the patio......that would creep me out and I wouldn't sleep the whole time I was there. Needless to say, I am requesting 3rd floor for our Poly CL stay next summer .

Congrats on booking CL :thumbsup2. Not sure what will happen if CL isn't completed by your stay, but I'm sure Disney will accommodate you with something comparable or upgrade you somehow ;).

I really hope the rooms are finished because it will be nice to be one of the first people to stay in a fresh refurbished room.

We just got home from our trip yesterday. The Poly was great as usual. We were in Tokelau 3915 and it was a garden view room but we had a (partial) lagoon view. We watched Wishes/Hallowishes and the EWP from our balcony. So cool! However, one thing that I didn't like was the horns from the ferryboats were really loud and if you wanted to sleep in or take a nap they could keep you awake.

We did have an issue with housekeeping - we didn't get our room serviced one day - but that was no big deal. I know we could have called and had someone come up but we had enough towels and we just made the beds ourselves.

The weather wasn't the best. We didn't get any rain (well, a 10 minute downpour on Thursday was it) but Hurricane Sandy brought ALOT of wind and the temperatures were cool. With the wind it made it feel much cooler than the actual air temperature Brr! We usually take the boat from the MK to the Poly but they weren't running the boats on Friday afternoon because of the high winds.

Speaking of the high winds ---- Friday afternoon DH & I sat at the Barefoot Pool Bar and the sand was blowing everywhere! There were sand drifts on the patio and sand in the pool. When I walked by the pool early Saturday morning the CMs were shoveling sand like snow! And other CMs were busy vacuuming the pool.

I'll post some pictures after I get them loaded.

Welcome back!
Sounds like your room was in a great location.
I hope you still had a great time, even though the weather was not cooperating!:(
Look forward to your pictures! :)

Wow the sand must of been a problem  Sorry it was so windy and cold. I know the wind bugs me when it blows so hard and its irratating, that would put a damper on a vacation :(

Thanks so much for the report! We're returning to Poly in January and it looks like our first choice (CL - Hawaii) is out due to renovations. Our second choice (Samoa) may be out for the same reason. Would you request Tokelau over Rarotonga? I like that Rarotonga is close to GCH, but Tokelau has some nice views and isn't all that far. What did you think about the distance from Tokelau to the GCH?

This time next week, my family and I will be entering the lobby of the Poly to start our wonderful vacation.
So excited!!!!!:yay::yay::yay:

We are staying at the Poly for the 1st time and have a Garden View room. There are 5 of us with a double stroller. Which Longhouse do you recommend for two adults and three kids? Thanks!
