Emmysdaddy Joins the Damsels to Dine, Even with Princesses: Em started PDR see link

Wow - I could happily make a meal out of the three appetizers you all ordered. :thumbsup2 Everything else looks great as well (and the key lime cheesecake comes with the same rum roasted pineapple that I loved at The Wave!).

And the wishing star story is so funny - it's the first time I've heard of anyone actually redeeming their wishing star for a real-life wish! Maybe I need to book a CRT meal to get one of those. :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about your lunch with Linda! :goodvibes

Your Cali Grill meal looks yummy! I don't know if I could eat all of that raw fish! I like sushi but I have never had just straight chunks of raw fish!

I want to eat at Cali Grill so bad but Corey is picky and Yachtsman is really the only place where he would eat so that is going to be our first signature! Oh well, I am still excited about that.

Wow, your dinner at Cali Grill looks fabulous! This is a restaurant I'm dying to try, everything looks amazing. LOL over your debate with Em over the chocolate cake, but you definitely win this one because you have photographic evidence! ;)

I was sorry to read that your experience at LTT wasn't the best. What good is the ooey gooey toffee cake without the ooey gooey??

I hope you're having a wonderful visit with your son! It's great that you can share these two weeks with him before he leaves. I'm sure it will be a bittersweet moment where you'll be both sad and proud. We'll all be praying for his safe return.

First of all may I congratulate you on only 12 DAYS UNTIL YOUR TRIP!! And to be at the BC - so beautiful.

Ha! I love your logic and yes, paying full price for a bowl of disappointment wasn't so great! I have not tried the colony salad but I love salad and I love colonies so why not! Actually, doesn't it have turkey and cranberries and other delicious toppings? I may have to try that some time. Are you eating at LTT for your upcoming trip?

Oh my gosh I know! I am about to lose it I am so excited... especially since DH has been working 17 hour days because of the upcoming election and I never see him. Our trip will be the first time we've spent more than 15 minutes together in weeks :dance3:.

Yes the colony salad is packed with delicious toppings... except I don't like craisins in anything so hold those please! We are eating at LTT this trip. DH and I (but DH especially) are obsessed with colonial history so it was a must do.

Can I just say HURRAY to your wonderful meal at Cali Grill? Some people have been hating it on lately but I just love it. That is where we are having our actual anniversary dinner. I was going to order the filet, which I loved in 2008, but I do NOT like its current incarnation at all (brussels sprouts? Bleh!) so I will most likely be ordering the pork. So glad to see that you are still loving it. That exchange between you and Emily was so darn cute. I seriously love that she held on to that star as if she knew she was going to need it or something.

I had the pleasure of meeting Linda67 for luch at Disneyland today!

After the initial excitement from meeting this lovely lady we headed towards New Orleans Square where Linda had booked a lunch reservation at Cafe Orleans.

Cheers to new friends:

I made a suggestion that we should share the pomme frites which are an amazing garlic, parmesean basket of fries served with a cajun spice remoulade with a sprinkling of parsley. Actually, the remoulade is not spicy at all. These were so good even when eaten cold since all of our chatting kept us from eating them right away.

We both decided to go with a light option of having the appetizer salad which was a house salad with baby greens, candied pecans, crumbled goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, and tossed with a raspberry vinaigrette. C'est Bon!

In all my chattiness, I almost forgot to text Barb some photos! And the ones that I did send had literally no information including the important little fact about where we were dining!!! Poor Barb had to do all the work to look up what we ate. She did a great job! Here's her post for our live dining review.

Notice the lovely UK themed bag on the table... Linda was generous enough to gift me with a collection of wonderful UK inspired Disney treats and wares.

Linda knows me so well! My favorite things! Kona, cupcakes, Epcot, Disneyland, WDW, planning vacations, and being a premier passholder. ;) This was so perfect!

Back to the Dismeet...
After lunch we wanted to get a few photos together so what better place to go than Sleeping Beauty's Castle?

Seriously, the castle is already getting its holiday make-over!

It was an honor and a pleasure to get to spend time with Linda today. :yay: I wish her a wonderful couple of days at the parks before she heads back across the pond! :goodvibes

Here's the recipe for this non-alcoholic drink:
1 lb granulated sugar
6 cups water
1 1/4 ounces lime juice concentrate
8 1/2 ounces lemonade concentrate
3/4 cup creme de menthe (syrup available at liquor stores. Do not confuse it with creme de menthe liqueur)

Directions:
1. Combine the sugar and water in a 3 quart saucepan. Stir the contents until the sugar is dissolved.
2. Stir in lime and lemonade concentrate next. Continue stirring and bring to boil just below the boiling point (210 degrees.) DO NOT BOIL!
3. Remove pan from heat and chill. Once chilled, add a ratio of 1 part syrup to 5 parts chilled water.
4. Transfer beverage to pitcher and enjoy!
5. Garnish each serving with mint leaves, lime slice and a maraschino cherry.

I agree, those apps were marvelous! Actually, I can't speak for the other two! :lmao: I pretty much ate all of the pineapple from the cheesecake, it was so good!

At least Em used her wishing star in an appropriate and meaningful way - at WDW! It was so funny!

I've just posted my Dismeet lunch. :)

Hi Rachel! I definitely don't eat sushi so I would never touch the stuff! If anyone says it is good I just smile and make them think I know what they are talking about!

I hope Corey likes Yachtsman - we certainly did! Enjoy your dinner there!!

Hi Carol! The chocolate cake episode was funny but like my husband and daughter pointed out, it wasn't about being right! They just wanted me to let it go!

Thanks for the well wishes for time with my son. I will see him and his wife again later tomorrow and Monday!! :thumbsup2 And thanks so much for any prayers for a safe return, I certainly covet any that are offered! :goodvibes

I LOVE craisins so I should like the Colony Salad. If you get a really good server at LTT they will provide trivia and historical facts. I've never had a server do this for us but I have overheard some for other tables.

Cali Grill is a great restaurant to celebrate any special occassion but what better way than to commemorate your anniversary - Congratulations!! Uhhh... they are now serving brussel sprouts? I will eat them if they are roasted and have a ton of butter and salt but they are not my favorite veggie. I'm sure you can sub something else.

I didn't even know Em had her wishing star still ... it was such a perfect spontaneous moment!! :)

You dinner looks wonderful! The last time we were at Cali grill was in Sept of 04 on our honeymoon. In Dec (35 days!) we have a 9:40 ADR on one of our date nights and Wishes will be at 10. Good to know that it took about 15 min to be seated maybe we will try and show up a little earlier. This and CRT are my to most anticipated ADR's in Dec, and I plan on getting a specialty mini cake for us to share as a surpise... Still debating on what type of meal we will get there - the sushi looks fabulous but last time I did love the pork tenderloin....

I love the wishing star! Can I ask what it is? Even though I have no idea what it is, it's a star, you're in WDW so I love it. :) It's pretty cute that she has had since Feb and that is a great candid shot of her. Looking forward to more updates when you have the time. :goodvibes

What a great date night restaurant!! I would show up a little early if you have a 9:40ADR just in case they are backed up. However, you could always view the fireworks on the terrace before being seated but I wouldn't think they would be that far behind. If you are already seated and you have a window table you may not even have to take a break!!

Oops! I should have explained the wishing star! It is simply a commemorative item that they provide at Cinderella's Royal Table. They have a wishing star ceremony at the restaurant with the kids. Em must have saved hers and carried it in her bag from our visit in February this year. Her "redeeming" her star was essentially her saying to me she wished I would let it go!

It's so exciting that you and Linda had an awesome time in Disneyland! Cafe Orleans looks really good, and that gift basket is incredible! :thumbsup2

I hope Linda is still having a great time in Cali, and that you enjoy the next few days with your son and his wife. :goodvibes

Awww, what a wonderful update and DISmeet! The photos of you two are lovely, and those gifts are SO thoughtful! I've seen very few pics of DL food but what I have seen looks delicious, and your lunch is no exception!

What a wonderful update! I loved those Pomme Frites. May have been my favorite thing that we ate in DL!

What a great UK gift bag! Really love that mug! :thumbsup2

How wonderful you got a chance to meet and share a meal with Linda! You have a lot in common as you're both lovely ladies who write wonderful dining reviews. :thumbsup2 I really enjoyed reading about your DISmeet, thanks for sharing it with us!

Outstanding review of your Cafe Orleans lunch and DISmeet with Linda! :thumbsup2 I am so very glad that you remembered to send me the pics. I told my DH they I wouldn't leave the house to go shopping with him until I had received and posted your update. So it would have been a long night at home waiting if you had forgotten. :lmao:

And btw, I haven't heard anything from Linda today. Hmm...I wonder if she is still at the Tiki Bar? ;)

Your dinner at Cali Grill looks wonderful, and you guys look beautiful all dressed up (one of the reasons I'll never get Mark to a signature restaurant...he refuses to dress up on vacation).

And :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a DIS meet, and at Disneyland for lunch yet. :)

Wow! What an amazing California Grill dinner! We're eating there for the first time on our honeymoon and I really can't wait after reading this.

Is the door to the observation deck hard to find? If we don't get a window seat I definitely want to make sure we get out to the observation deck!

I'm here, I'm here :)

I've finally got back to my hotel room (I think I have spent all of 10 minutes here)

Brenda, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and I really enjoyed our time together. I really do hope we get to meet again some time - we need to get a dining boards DIS meet in WDW organised!

Oh and the gifts you got for me were just awesome, I've packed them away but as soon as I get home I will post a photo

World Of Color was AMAZING by the way :)

I really do hope we get to meet again some time - we need to get a dining boards DIS meet in WDW organised!

I love that idea, Linda! :thumbsup2 Okay, who wants to be in charge of organizing it? I'd volunteer but I've got my hands full with the Live Update thread these days. :lmao:

That mug is the cutest thing ever!! I love it!!

Your meal at CG sounds excellent - I'm so glad you liked it! We were not there at Wishes time but that must have made it even more amazing. I'm smiling about Emily's wishing star...because I carry mine around in my purse as well! I'm not sure why but I can't bring myself to take it out. I've never thought of redeeming it for a real wish. Perhaps I can bring it out and tell her that I "wish" she'd stop texting so much! :lmao:

As promised, here is a photo of the super cute and wonderful gifts that the lovely Brenda gave to me at our DIS meet :goodvibes

file.jpg

Aren't they lovely?

And so very kind :flower3:

I also had some delicious cookies but they were too good to resist and were eaten before I remembered to take a photo :rotfl:

Thanks again for a wonderful lunch and these perfect gifts Brenda xx

I've been playing catch-up! I keep reading on the I-Pad but have no idea how to comment (or even if I can!)

Grand Floridian Cafe looks amazing and will defo have to make the list on our next trip - especially for that dessert sampler.

I now really feel the need for some eggs benedict after seeing the wonderfulness of them at WCC. I'd quite like to follow my eggs with the breadbowl dip from LTT, but have to say I would prefer them not to cut my flatbread up into little bits! Now this is where it falls apart - what happened to the ooey gooey toffee cake

But nevermind, because I am now fixating on the Pork Tenderloin from Cali Grill :thumbsup2
