Just back from AOA

We were in a LM room 10/14-10/20. It was wonderful. Anyone have any questions?

What did you think of the mattress and pillows? That's a question I've seen here on the DIS several times! :) thanks!

They were comfy! I did miss my memory foam pillow, but the beds were good, not too firm, but not squishy either. The pillows were not bad, but I'm so used to memory foam and a body pillow that it was different.

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2 Now I have a first hand account to share with people! ::yes::

Would love to see what the standard Mermaid rooms look like. We will be there in 96 days.

Hi, we are staying in February in a cars suite and I have a couple questions.
How was the transportation to the parks? How long did you wait for buses and how long did it take to get to the various parks?
How noisy was the room at night? Can you hear people in the halls?
Thanks :)

The longest we waited for a bus was 10 mins towards the end of the Halloween party.

It was a short trip to everywhere but MK, which was about 20 mins. HS seemed to be the closest.

We were in LM parking lot view and it was pretty quiet. Unless people we talking loudly right outside or room, we really didn't hear them.

This makes me feel better. 20 minutes to MK sounds reasonable to me. Is there a bus schedule at the resort? Do the buses leave at a certain time or do you just show up and hope for the best that the bus just didn't just leave.

Thanks! :)

It was rough at the end of a long day, but overall not bad. I think about 5-7 mins. I talked with the head maintenance guy for the LM section for a bit one morning and he did say they are looking into putting a drink station in the LM section. The big thing holding it back is controlling use. There really isn't a way to make sure is being used properly right now.

No schedule, but they did say buses leave about every 20 mins

The buses, to the parks, will start running by 6:30am, each morning. These buses tend to run less frequently than regular buses do...about every 25 mins or so. Then, about an hour prior to park opening, the buses start running no more than every 20 mins, and they get closer together as you get closer to park opening....in order to deal with the increasing number of guests. Then, about 30 mins or so after the park opens, the buses revert to coming every 20 mins or so..usually sooner.
There is no set schedule. But you won't be left standing for long. The system works very well.

HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE DELUXE HOTELS? WE USUALLY STAAY AT THE CONTEMPORARY BUT WE ARE MAKING A SURPRISE BITHDAY TRIP FOR MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN MAY..WE REALLY DONT STAY TOO MUCH IN THE HOTEL EXCEPT FOR SLEEPING, SO ITS NOT TOO BIG OF A DEAL, BUT IM KIND OF WORRIED ABOUT TRAVELLING TO AND FROM THE PARKS, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN HEARING MAYBE GOING TO THE FOODCOURT OR GRABBING A DRINK OR SNACK MAY BE A PROBLEM AS WELL...WE ARE REALLY JUST STAYING THERE FOR THE LITTLE MERMAID THEMING AS MY DAUGHTER LOVES HER AND IT BEING NEW I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A NICE SURPRISE. ALSO HOW IS THE POOL AREA? WE USUALLY TAKE WINTER TRIPS AND IM IMAGINING ITS GOING TO BE PRETTY HOT AND WE WILL BE USING THE POOL QUITE A BIT. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANKS IN ADVANCE.

We were in a LM room in Sept. (the day it opened) and had a room facing the pool. We didn't hear outside noise. The walk to the food court was pretty long and I never once went over there for a refill!

We are thinking about a stay at the AoA in the Little Mermaid Rooms before our cruise. Was wondering, are there laundry facilities near the LM rooms? Also, what time does the store and food court open in the morning?

Thanks for starting this thread and allowing all of us to ask questions to someone who has first hand knowledge :cool1:

Yes, there's a laundry area by the LM pool.
The food court and gift shop open at 6am
