1st disney cruise in june 2013. celebrating my niece's graduation. can anyone tell me if possible and how I might reserve the Outlook lounge for a private party?

On other lines, I helped plan cruise meet parties and we used the Event Planner. The ship provided all snacks and basic beverages.

You can go to the link and follow for your specific ship:

Depending on the ages of people attending and how many, you can always book the private rooms in Palo or Remy. There is no room up-charge besides the per-person upcharge for dinner.

The room in Palo on the dream looked like it could seat up to 14 and there are two rooms in Remy. Guessing they both looked like they'd seat 10-12.

You just have to get a hold of them before any higher level Castaway Club members do.

On the Dream and Fantasy, the private dining room is more of an alcove than a room. On the Magic and Wonder it is a separate room. It can be booked in advance for a party of 12--no more or less, although when I attended an event there, we had 14. After boarding, the Palo manager may opt to put a large group there who is not fully 12, but it must be 12 to book in advance. As above, no charge other than the $20 per person upcharge + any alcohol.

To book any other venue for a private event, call DCL. They are happy to help.

Great idea for a graduation, if everyone is 18 and over. What a special treat for an 18 year old!

Looks like we will have to make a phone call. We will have 2 in our party of 12 that are under 18.

Just wanted to add when we held the parties that were set up by the event planner, the Captain and all Department Heads stopped by to welcome us and describe their duties. It was so cool to meet them and then to stop and chat with them throughout the cruise. Maybe you could ask if the Captain had time to stop by to congratulate the Graduate! :)

Do mind me asking, how much does a party like that cost?

There was no cost involved. The event planner arranged the conference room, pastries, fruit, juices, coffee and tea were already in the room when we arrived. It was a highlight and an amazing way to begin the cruise. This was on two NCL cruises...and it was our Cruise Critic groups.

Thanks! Sorry, I thought these events were on DCL. Not sure if you would get a reserved room at DCL for free, unless of course you pay for a bunch of food. :)

No personal experience, but don't count on it being a "freebie" on DCL! Our large Dis group did get a room once for an event, but then they threatened to charge us the corking fee when some people brought wine. I KNOW that it says the stuff you bring on board is supposed to be consumed in your room, but it seemed a bit much. We didn't ask anything of them other than a space to get together for an hour or so. Ultimately they backed down on the charge. They did send a bar tender (which we didn't ask for!)

What if Roze placed a large number of Room Service orders and had them delivered or took them down to La Piazza, Skyline or some area that was always open but a little secluded? I only noticed that The Tube held a lot of events and Outlook was reserved in the mornings for the Bill W. meetings.

We are booked on the Dream in November 2013 for our 5 year anniversary. As of now 10 of our family and friends will be joining us (2 of whom will be celebrating their birthdays while on the cruise also). I am looking to do the private room in Palo one evening or a separate little party in a private room. I asked this a few daysa ago and I am actually happy that the private room in Palo on the Dream is just an separate alcove. We love Palo and would not want to separated from the beautiful space. Would love to eat early enough to enjoy looking out the window also.

I am interested in learning more also about a private little party. Subscribing here to get some more information.

On the Fantasy, the separate/private alcove was enclosed - no windows. This area is where most of the buffet items were placed during brunch.

Years ago when we were on the Magic, 16 of us had linked reservations and we had discussed doing a "cabin crawl" or tour to see the variety of staterooms we had booked and one of our party said Room Service could provide fruit and pastry platters for us. We never could coordinate our schedules for the crawl but it did sound as if requesting a large quantity of food through Room Service was acceptable.
