Wait a minute, I'm 40, when did this happen? Nicki & Todd LIVE reviews! Completed!

That's the second positive review I've seen for Maya Grill recently - I'd love to try that dulce de leche in a shot glass!

And your Kona breakfast looks really, really good. I love your idea of customizing the Big Kahuna platter to get what you feel like - I'd want eggs, pancakes with pineapple-macadamia topping, and tomato slices. :)

MG was such a great surprise, I am so happy we ate there. So far all the restaurants have been very accommodating.

Maya Grill looks really yummy!!

It sure was!

OOOOOO so mad I am late:guilty:. I love your reviews. There is alot to get caught up on so here goes.

Late is not a problem, there is lots more to come!

Ok my munching on reduced fat wheat thins is not working for me right now!!!:lmao:
I agree w/ you on the protein breakfast, I feel like a slug starting the day w/ sweets. LOVE tomatoes too!!!!:duck: [let's see if I don't try the::banana:]

What a FANTASTIC surprise w/ Maya Grill!!! The guac looks delish.& I LOVED a cilantro vin dressing I had @ Plant Hollywood in Niagara Falls. I tore that salad up!!Right up my alley!!!! Since we added 3 nights @ CSR MG might get added now!

Oh & ur hair looks great!!!!!! Such nice pics & review of Citrico's. [we went last year on ur suggestion & loved it!]

I love Wheat Thins! Normally I drink a protein shake and eat eggs on the weekend but there is just something about WDW eggs that I adore and I could eat them all the time!

So far all the salads have been fantastic...love me some salad. Having zero humidity in FL now means my hair never frizzes...love that! So glad you liked Citricos, its our favorite signature

MmmmmMMM! The Maya Grill looks yummy. :) Im looking forward to tomorrow! Epcot seems like the best place to eat in WDW, especially during F&W!! Yum! ^.^

Epcot was incredible, we ate there all day!

Wow does that Maya Grill look good. I so love Mexican food like that. And the fried ice cream, Yummmmmmm.

Have fun at EPCOT today. We only have one more wake up at home then vacation starts! Will be arriving Tuesday and cannot wait.

Enjoy!

That is my type of Mexican food too, not in love with La Hacienda or SAI. Have a safe trip!

I haven't seen the Maya Grill reviewed. I never think to go there. We love CSR. It is our favorite moderate. I can't wait to read if you do go back.

We never thought to go there either but I am so glad we did

What??!!! Nicki we ate Boma breakfast Sunday 10/7, our last morning and they had the goat cheese eggs!!!!!! If they're gone now someone up there really loves me!!!!!!!!!

You got lucky!

Are we married to the same person??!! Mike's idea of all day is 2 pm too!!!!!

Maya grill looks yummy!! Dh would die for those refried beans. I'm getting the gurgles just thinking of mexican hahaha.

Have fun at f/w today!

Could be, does Mike forget to take out the trash too :lmao:

Wow! Maya Grill looks amazing! Talk about a place that never registered on our radar, ha! It sounds like a much more successful meal than when we went to La Hacienda, though! But I do love SAI!

I cannot believe you are all the way over at SSR! That is such a bummer but hope to still catch up with you. MG is much better than LH and SAI

We stayed at Coronado and I never even considered Maya Grill. I am a bit bummed now. I don't see us staying at Coronado again but maybe a trip there for dinner will be in our future. We do not like SAI after two miserable experiences and do enjoy Hacienda but this may be a new mexican fix to try.

Def worth the drive over to eat at MG

I'm with everyone else- I have never even thought about Maya Grill, but WOW did your dinner look amazing! :worship: How did you come up with that one? Very glad you did- thanks again!

DH decided he didnt want to eat at Narcoossee's so I searched available TS locations and MG popped up. Since we were not going to a park that night I thought why not? So glad we ate there

Loving the reviews! I love the pics of you guys at Citrico's, you are so pretty! And now you have me wanting to try to fit in an ADR at Maya Grill, it looks fantastic! :dance3:

Thank you so much! I love when a picture is a keeper :thumbsup2

Finally someone who agrees with me that Maya Grill is quite a good restaurant! :thumbsup2 I was already doubting myself. :rotfl2:
But if the Queen of food reviews agrees with me I am :cloud9:

Karin, you are dead on about MG, it was soooo good!

I am joining in. Happy belated birthday!

I am loving your food trip report, thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Happy to have you here

LOVING your reviews as usual and your conversations with your DH are so entertaining. Thanks for sharing !!!

Hi everyone! Wow what a day! Up early because who can sleep while in WDW? My husband thats who! I waited for what seemed like forever for him to finally get moving. We had protein shakes in the room for breakfast because we knew we would be eating alot at F&W today. Coffee was a necessity we could not do without so we high tailed it over to the food court. What a nightmare. I think it was a little before 9am and the place was a zoo.

Grabbed some coffee and hopped on a bus to Epcot. The weather was perfect, lots of sun and a comfortable temp. We arrived at Epcot to find it pretty empty so we were able to get alot accomplished. Before visiting the F&W Center Todd needed a snack, the shakes do not always keep him full like they do me. Seeing that we were in WDW for 3 days and he has yet to have a pretzel that is exactly what he wanted

EpcotOct21001.jpg

He said it was great, soft and warm and just enough salt.

We loved the FW Center and plan to spend more time there later this week, want to check out the Chase lounge and all. Loved the Ghiradelli display and all the Disney scenes made from chocolate, we shared a cup of drinking chocolate, picture a melted GOOD chocolate bar in a little cup and you have drinking chocolate. One sip was enough for me as it is very sweet and thick, DH had no problem draining the cup

EpcotOct21004.jpg

I knew I wanted to be in front of Canada as soon as the countries opened, I wanted that filet! Not too surprised to find a long line at 10:30am! It moved very quickly though. Had a glass of Apple Ice Wine, which we will buy a few bottles of before we leave. The pour was nothing like it was last year, they were skimpy for the money. The filet was outstanding, super tender and cooked to a medium. We both loved it and plan on getting it again

EpcotOct21015.jpg

EpcotOct21016.jpg

Since Greece is right next door I had to get my Spanakopita...I love this stuff! Todd is not a fan so more for me. This was hot and delicious but a tad greasy

EpcotOct21017.jpg

At Ireland Todd had to get the cheese plate, he gets it every year. Doesnt eat the bread or the chutney, just the cheese and he said it is very good. I ordered the Bunratty Meade Honey Wine and the girl asked for my ID! Are you serious, honey I just turned 40 but hey if you want to check my ID you are MORE than welcome! :woohoo: The wine was super duper sweet, I didnt like it but Todd did

EpcotOct21018.jpg

EpcotOct21019.jpg

Onto Japan where we had the Sukiyaki sandwich, this ROCKED! Well, the meat totally rocked, the bun was pathetic so we ate the meat with a fork, super tender and lots of flavor. I plan on getting this again but asking them to leave off the bun

EpcotOct21020.jpg

Back in the good old USA we decided to give the lobster roll a try, yes again. Its always too chewy and loaded with dill and this time was no different...it was gross, for some reason I didnt take a picture of it..maybe because it was that forgettable. The pumpkin mousse was very good but sweeter than I remember. The Chocolate Boch was wonderful and neither of us care for beer that much, honestly I dont know why Todd ordered it but I am glad he did!

EpcotOct21023.jpg

EpcotOct21021.jpg

In Poland we had the kielbasa and pierogi with onions...I eat the meat and he eats the pierogi and we are both very happy! We also tried the new Belvedere Frozen Apple Lemon Tea...this was INSANE! So delish I want to buy the liquour so I can make this at home

EpcotOct21025.jpg

EpcotOct21024.jpg

I remember reading about chocolate caramel covered grapes in Germany and Todd wanted to check it out. I reminded him of the fiasco at MK the day before, terrible chocolate covered fruit but thinking the caramel would help he decided to go for it. One bite on his face told me that it was not good, too weird a combo I guess

EpcotOct21028.jpg

Also in Germany we had the brat on a pretzel roll. The sausage was great, the mustard was super good, the roll not so much.

EpcotOct21029.jpg

Welcome to China where we had the Mongolian Beef in a Bun and the Sunny Guava with Coconut Rum. DH said the beef was pretty good and had a nice spice but the drink, OMG the drink was huge and soooo good, the guy that made it added a huge rum floater on top and I was just in hog heaven...def going to get that again

EpcotOct21030.jpg

EpcotOct21031.jpg

While drinking and eating I thought I heard my name and I did, it was TinaCaplan! I knew she would be there with her mom and I am so glad we found each other. We talked and drank our rum drinks for 30 minutes or so, it was so great to see her again!

With all that as a breakfast/lunch combo we decided to save the other items for later this week, I think on Tues

Dinner tonight was Rose & Crown, another new place for us. The weather was starting to cool down, it was very nice. Epcot was pretty busy but nothing crazy or packed.

Checked into R&C a bit early and hoped to get an outside table. Since we had to wait a bit we walked around the Twinnings Tea Shop and DH found KCups for my Keurig! We bought the Christmas Blend and Winter Blend and are having them shipped to the resort...cannot wait to try these!

The buzzer went off and sadly we were seated inside...it was fun though because we still had a water view.

I was starving, Todd not so much, bummer because I was hoping he would order the Scotch egg, oh well next time. We both had ice tea and was very happy to discover it is Earl Grey Ice tea, I love that and make it at home all the time.

roseandcrown002.jpg

The Apple Frisee salad sounded good but I wanted all the items on the side, the server said no problem but the didnt put the apples or cranberries on the side, just the cheese and nuts. Todd ate the apples, cranberries and nuts and left me with the plate of weeds :rotfl: My "grass" was very good but not enough dressing

roseandcrown003.jpg

Nice basket of hot rolls and butter, DH ripped into these and said they were very good...I skipped them but they did smell great

roseandcrown004.jpg

My choice was the NY Strip and I subbed out the onion rings for french fries for DH, he loves the "chips" at the CS so I figured why not. My steak was ordered med rare with the mushroom sauce on the side. The steak was well done and the sauce was all over it. I would have sent it back but the plate was dropped off and the person disappeared. I said the heck with it, scraped off the sauce and cut into the steak...it was so tender and very juicy, loaded with flavor so I ate it all, but I really missed my rare! DH ate the mushrooms, I loved my crisp string beans and the roasted tomato was very good. DH said the fries were very good, hot and crispy and some had soaked up the sauce on my steak, those were his favorite

roseandcrown006.jpg

Todd went for the Cottage Pie, basically Shepherds Pie. He enjoyed it alot and said it was very filling, loaded with mushrooms and meat, carrrots, cheese and potatoes

roseandcrown005.jpg

I was too full for dessert and nothing wowed him so we went over to Australia where he had the Lamington. A dense yellow cake covered in chocolate and coconut...he loved it!

roseandcrown008.jpg

Tomorrow the plan is breakfast at the food court and spend the morning/afternoon by the pool...might walk over to Riverside for lunch or just eat at our resort. We have an early dinner at the Wave which we are both so excited about because its been a few years since our last meal there.

Todd: Why are we eating so early

Me: Um, no reason, why are you asking?

Todd: What do you have up your sleeve

Feign the shocking, I'm innocent face

Me: Nothing, I promise...well ok, MK is open until 1am and I figured if I gave you a restful day you would be up for a late night

Todd: Do I get to sleep in the next morning?

Me: If you think 7am is sleeping in then sure!

Todd: Jeez I wish you had an off switch

We love R&C but almost always go for lunch. I love the Bangers & Mash. Your steak looks pretty tasty ... I am a medium/well girl. May have to think about dinner.

Love all the food & wine pics! So excited that I will actually get to try some of those things in a few weeks!

Nicki, I finally got my TR updated, and now back to try to catch up on all of my threads again.

The picture of you and then you and Todd at your birthday dinner are wonderful...you look great (but Itold you that last month).

I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday dinner; unfortunately, would never get Mark there to eat, but I'm glad you and Todd went.

Kona looks marvelous yet again...I do love that place and can't wait to go with you guys in December.

I wish I ate Mexican because the kids and us could go there the night you leave us at Disney before we go to the Mickey Christmas Party. But, alas, I don't eat Mexican. Glad it turned out to be a great choice for you.

Despite a couple of blunders by your server at Rose & Crown, it looks as if you guys had a good meal there. I'm with Todd...I do love those chips.

If I had the time, I could write a ten-line sonnet for every F&W picture you have here. However, I'll have to settle for this haiku:

That food looks so good!
I'm totally jelling here.
Why can't that be me?!

Maya Grill looks yummy! We haven't ever tried it. Our bad it looks to be. Rose & Crown, the same. We haven't tried it either. Although I frequent the quick service cart next to it for fish and chips! They are definitely one of my favorites. We tried The Wave in February. Believe it or not, it was the best steak of the week. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the potato dish. It wasn't mashed potatoes but some other crazy vegteable. Oh well. The steak made up for it! Hope you find the restaurant to your liking!!!!!!! I so enjoy the banter between the two of you. And I agree, vacations/Disney is NOT for sleeping!!!!!!!!!! :) You'd think he was 21 again. What's going to happen when he gets OLD! ;)

Reading your dining report is fun as always! Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I'm pretty sure my DH wishes I had an off switch, too. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

That was HILARIOUS!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I LOVED that pumpkin mousse sooooo much last year I made it for Thanksgiving- people went crazy for it. I hope you got it on an off day- I'm like you, not good with extra sweet. Looking forward to the less sweet version I had last year.

And I forgot to mention, I am very sorry they did not have the pumpkin pancakes for you at Kona- they didn't have them for me last November, either. :sad2: I went right after you last year (just like I will this year) and I was REALLY looking forward to them, but managed to suffer through the mac nut pancakes instead. :) Kona has such a great breakfast.....

I just thought about this to tell you (as I sat here enjoying one) from one pumpkin lover to another...have you tried the Thomas's pumpkin english muffins? I LOVE THEM!!!!

The photo of Todd holding the eggrolls REALLY cracked me up! :rotfl2: And of course there had to be a Pretzel in there somewhere.

It's great to see so many offerings of food and wine. Thanks for taking it upon you to taste all that for us. ;)

Great reviews! Glad you are having a good time. I was shaking my head in agreement when I read about the lobster roll in the American pavillion. Dh and I were there for the preview night and we tried that along with the claw and they were so gross. We had to spit them out. We usually love lobster but this was beyond edible.

If you happen to be up for a DIS meet I would love to meet you! I am here doing the college program as a photopass photographer in Hollywood Studios. I love your dining reviews and just saw this thread today (So behind:rotfl:) Hope your trip is going great :goodvibes

great reviews! my mouth is watering.
