Hello to all

As my DW and I will be celebrating our 50th birthday and 30th Wedding Anniversary in 2013, so we have booked our first Disney Cruise and trip to Disneyland.

The plan is arrive at LAX from Australia on Monday morning the day the cruise departs, taxi or shuttle bus to Ship Terminal, Depart on the Disney Wonder for LA to Vancouver Cruise, board and depart for the Alaskan Cruise after arriving back at Vancouver, flying to LAX from YVR leaving at 1.20 pm will this be cutting time too short or should we leave later in the day? Car hire at LAX and onto Disneyland for a few days and back to Australia. Thanks for any advice.

First up we where looking into the Alaskan Cruise only but the cost of the LA cruise as to flying to Vancouver from Australia is about the same so we thought might as well do both Cruises.

Since you're coming from so far away and there aren't many alternative international flights, if your flight gets delayed you could easily miss the boat, literally. i would plan to do the Disneyland portion of your trip before your cruises. That way if you're delayed getting to California, it won't be as critical. And if/when you wear yourself out in Disneyland, you can use the cruises to relax and unwind.

As for your return to LAX, 1:20 p.m. should be fine.

Are you planning to visit other parts of southern Calif besides Disneyland? If you're going to spend the majority of your time at Disneyland, you could take public transportation and avoid the hassle of driving. If you're not accustomed to heavy-duty freeway traffic, Los Angeles can be a nightmare.

Have a great trip!

I agree!! I would plan on arriving the day before just in case you are delayed for some reason!

My cruise in Sept 2011 we left on a Friday, and my flight was cancelled first of the morning and we weren't able to get a flight out till after 4....Ruined our plans for the day butttt didn't matter as long as we were in Fla for the cruise...that had been Saturday we would have not been on that ship!!:scared1:

Enjoy your vacation!

Sue

I also say either come in the day before for your cruise or do Disneyland before the cruise.

Congrats on the 30th anniversary and happy bday wishes ;)

DO NOT arrive at LAX the same day as the ship departs. You'll be tired, jet lagged, miserable, and stressed. And if anything happens to delay your flight, you could literally miss the boat (ship).

It is WELL worth the extra time to come in a day ahead and spend one night in a hotel. You'll board the ship much more relaxed and ready to enjoy your cruise and if something does happen, you have a lot more options!

The other alternative is to do Disneyland before the cruise--I'd much rather miss one day in the parks than stress out over the cruise. And you can take advantage of transfers from DL to the port. They will handle your luggage and make your lives easier.
