What a Mess!

I can never really plan ahead for Disney trips. I don't know when I can go sometimes and when I do, I book right away. I had wanted to stay Nov. 10-17 originally, but by the time I was able to book, only the 11th-17th was available and only at ASMu for our family of 5. So, I booked a passholder room with dining added for a ticketless package.

Fast forward to today. I notice that they have rooms available at Port Orleans Riverside and that they have them from 10th-17th so 7 nights for only $20 over the cost of 6 nights at the value resort. I call to change the reservation from 6 nights at the value to 7 at the Riverside with dining and the tell me I can't. That the room is available, but only as a passholder room only offer, but not with dining. I say fine, just let me have the room with no dining and we will pay out of pocket. Well, then she says okay, but you will be charged $200 for canceling a package.

So, the room is available, but they are the ones keeping me from making it a package, but I can't just switch to the room and remove the dining because it isn't a package any longer then and I will be charged $200. They want to charge me $200 for something they won't let me do, meanwhile the room is still available. Seems like flawed logic.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Disney, just seems weird and not so great of a way to treat passholders. I will just keep my reservation at ASMu and keep checking back to see if the 10th ever becomes available I guess.

Call back and ask for a supervisor.

Call back and ask for a supervisor.

Do you think a supervisor can override it so that it lets me make it a ticketless package with the passholder discount. I am not asking them to take a room that is not discounted and discount it. This is a room that is already available at the passholder discount, they just say I can't add dining because it is flagged as "room only."

I don't like to make a fuss, just seems weird when the room is available either way.

I agree with this!!! It wouldn't hurt to ask for a supervisor...you'll never know until you try:)

Yay! I called again, she disappeared to talk to guest relations for about 10 minutes and was able to change it! We got an extra night and switched to quick service dining and I got a $187 credit back even with the extra night! :dance3:

AWESOME:yay: I'm so happy for you!!!

Thanks everyone! I hate to be a pest, but it just wasn't making sense to me. So glad you all suggested trying again. Always great to get another day at Disney and save money. Funny how the excitement never goes away no matter how many times we go there.

So happy! pixiedust:

I had the POR booked for the past 4 months because was the only moderate big enough to fit my family of 5 (besides the Ft.Wilderness Cabins).
When I made the reservation they said the passholder rate had sold out and I had to book at the regular rate but because I was a passholder they allowed me to add the dining plan.
After reading your post I went on and checked and sure enough the passholder rate IS now available! I was able to change to the lower passholder discount price with out any trouble what so ever!
I now have $120 credit! YAY! :cheer2:
God, I love the Dis Boards!
Thanks!!!!

Yay! Yes, I noticed that there were still passholder rooms available even after I changed to the POR. When I booked originally at the ASMu, the POR wasn't even available at rack rate. They must have had a good amount of cancellations.
