ok, so here is the deal.....when I first booked our trip(Feb 12) I had booked a prefered room. After the offer for free dining came out, I called and changed our resi, only no prefered rooms were available. We do still have the Free QS-it works best for us.....not big on the sit down-we have 2 ADRs and theat is all they are wanting......
As for the prefered rooms not being availablel...... Not a big deal, my kids are older now and no strollers( although I liked them to hold all the "Stuff" we had). so, with that, I am now trying to figure out what building to request when I do our checkin in Dec. any ideas? dont want to walk super far(that would be partly why we didnt do AOA LM)....we do have two rooms and unable to convice the DH and kids to upgrade to PORFQ.....they really liked POP......I like that they will be able to go through the main building to get drinks! any ideas would be helpful....thanks

Buildings in the 60s and 70s are pretty close to the classic hall and bus stop

We stayed in the 70's building facing the giant foosball players and it was close to the food court.

I was in Bldg. 10 - 70s - last week and it was close to Classic Hall and the 90s parking lot. It was an ideal location!

Ask for 60s building to be close. I've gotten it twice and also asked for lakeside and had great rooms.

Just stayed perferred 70's 1stfloor. It was great. Close to pool, lobby, busses. No noise even on bottom floor

Nothing at Pop is super far (ditto for AoA, since they're the same footprint) from anything else. It's been a whole since I measured, but I think the whole resort is about a thousand feet across or less - so 500 feet or less to Classic Hall, no matter where you are. That's shorter than the walk between the Epcot turnstiles and the buses.

You can see from the variety of suggestions how subjective "best" is. I have two suggestions:
Don't wait until you check in online to make requests. You won't be able to. Call back now and add requests to your reservation.
You said you have two rooms; if you requested connecting rooms, stop there. The more requests you have, the less likely they'll be met.

We have a preferred room booked for next August.
I would also like to request bottom floor, but am a bit worried about noise.
Which building/room were you in?
